Great food and super fast service, every time. i also like the ability to customize your sandwich to your personal specifications!

Worst Jimmy Johns I have ever ordered from. I would never eat here if it were not the closest JJ. Regularly, the lettuce tastes bitter or soapy. I assume it is the employee’s fault as I have never had this happen at any other JJ. Every time I go, the sandwich is wrapped poorly. Heck, I wrapped Christmas gifts 100x better when I was 10 compared to these jokers wrapping a sandwich. On top of that, the employees seem disengaged and can never get your order the 1st time. Occasionally the bread is pretty stale too. Drive to either location in Coralville, this location is a waste

This JJ’s was usually about 45 minutes late when I was in school and it appears nothing has changed. We ordered two sandwiches four hours ahead of time to be delivered 0.2 miles, paid in full. I understand it’s very busy, but the manager was not«Iowa nice» whatsoever. He was very unpleasant, with no regard for their lack of «freaky fastness» or customer service. Try ordering from a different sandwich shop, or maybe JJ’s on Benton, instead.

Absolutely beautiful. What’s better than getting a BLT(not a real blt, tomato is gross) on a chilly Friday night in your dorm room at midnight. 10⁄10 would eat there again.

Ordered a sandwich for delivery.35 minutes later they said they were outside. Went outside and they were not there. Turns out they went to the wrong place. They then proceeded to blame and yell at me for«giving the wrong address.» I asked for a refund because I needed the sandwhich before I had work. They started yelling and telling me how if I get a refund then they loses money, then they hung up on me. I never got my sandwhich or a refund. Will never order from them again.

These idiots don’t care about making a decent effing sandwich. Every time I ordered my tuna, they put a huge chunk in the middle and nothing at both ends. They just don’t care. Edit: the person who usually did this is not working here any more.

The sandwich was amazing, don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t my first jimmy johns experience, but next time I will question who is making my sandwich. My work associate and I walked into the facility and only one jimmy johns team member greeted us, at first I thought maybe the other members left him hanging and called in sick, but to our great surprise he was the member leaving his teammates hanging, in the bathroom. As they both walked out, the female employee walked like she just ran 40 miles up hill with the look of seeing a ghost. On the other hand, the male employee’s expression towards his teammate behind the counter was that of him getting the winning touchdown in his high school years, if he even is out of high school. Needless to say my work associate and I enjoy the shit out of our sandwiches and walked out of jimmy johns watching the two employees explore each other’s insides through their mouths.

During our whirlwind tour of Iowa City, it was time to get a snack. BIL suggested Jimmy John’s which I’d heard of when I was visiting my family in Washington State so I figured I’d finally give them a try. We made our way into downtown, parked and BIL went in while I waited in the car doing some people watching. During my people watching and texting with friends who had no idea why I was in Iowa, I spotted a young man who stopped in front of a restaurant. At first I thought he was going to go in or look at what they had to offer on the posted menu outside the door but instead he picked up a sign they had near the sidewalk to fix it because the wind knocked it down. I then thought oh he must work there, they pay him to do that… wrong again. He made sure it kept it’s place and then walked away. I began to wonder if I was still in America, well the America I’ve come to know in the past 10 years or so. Shortly after BIL came back with a sandwich for us to share. The sandwich was a Turkey Tom(8″ with fresh sliced turkey, topped with lettuce, mayo and tomato) and delicious in it’s simplicity. The bread was fresh and spongy like I like it and the combo of the ingredients were not overwhelming at all. Definitely a perfect snack for a continuance of the day.

I frequently order online for pick-up. I have never had any issues, other than one time they forgot to include my pickle. But because I named my order«Joker» and the sandwich maker labeled it «Why so serious?», I have forgiven this one error. It was the best day.

Of the 5 times I’ve ordered here in the past year and a half, two variables were a lock: 1) I’ve never ordered more than 2 sandwiches at a time 2) It’s never taken LESS than 50 minutes for a sandwich to come. 1 sandwich, 5⁄8 of a mile, 1 hour +. Once, I ordered a sandwich from the library, they made me wait an hour, then delivered the wrong sandwich. I asked for a veggie and they gave me ham and cheese(I haven’t put meat in my body in 16 years). Twice I had to call after an hour to see if they forgot about the order, which they did. I waited almost two hours on a single sandwich once– they threw in a free cookie in attempt make amends. The timeframe defies all logic. unless the method is employees waiting on their bowel movements before they can defecate in your food and deliver the order. Can’t rush a BM.

Don’t buy from Jimmy John’s. I don’t mind hunting but poaching is another thing. Check out this loser, the owner of the chain:

Look, I’m a service worker myself, so I get it. I’m always polite to others in the service industry. Sometimes the job sucks, BUT… Basically, I ordered a sandwich and it was wrong. I called back to ask if they could just deliver the stuff they left off and I could put it on the sandwich myself. I know mistakes happen and I didn’t want to make a huge deal of it, but I’d paid for it and i wanted it. But the guy on the phone insisted they would make me a fresh one. When the new sandwich arrived they asked for my old sandwich back and then grabbed it out of my hand to open it up and examine it. I don’t know if this is common policy or what, but it was really shitty. He treated me like I’d done something wrong or had been lying about my sandwich. He was very rude and condescending and said there was nothing wrong with it. I really don’t understand why he was so rude about it. he basically rolled his eyes and walked away from me. I was super polite during the whole process so it was completely unwarranted. I won’t ever order from this company/location again and you shouldn’t either. I’d give them negative stars if I could.

This ain’t fine dining, but for what it is, it’s more than adequate. This is for midnight munchies only. In fact, for midnight munchies this is 5 Star fare. 2 words, 5 syllables, 1 late night taste bud orgasm: Italian Nightclub. Get it with hot peppers, they give the sandwich the perfect finish. Oh yeah, have it delivered. You DONOT want to be stuck in line with Bro Namath and Madame Slutterfly. Trust me, I learned the hard way. P. S. — «Free Smells»

I usually dont review chains. But I go here often for lunch or when working at the office late at night. Breads are good, love the wheat loaf, and the standard white sub bread has got that light crust and soft inside. I like getting the California on wheat. Filling and their own BBQ chips are nice and sweet(and the jalapeño are good too). I also like buying their«day old» bread for like 50¢ a loaf and take home and munch on or make sandwiches. When I do I usually buy an extra loaf for the drifters that hang out around there and give it to them. Sometimes they are nice about me being nice to them. p. s. Dont expect much seating areas in this location. Tight row upfront and some more in the back.

Freaky good? Yes. Freaky fast? Hardly. I usually like Jimmy John’s enough to make it a staple sub sandwich, no matter what city I’m in. This location is off my Iowa City list. My sister ordered some party platters online well in advance of a party. She received the confirmation and her credit card was charged. When we stopped on the way to the party to pick them up, the employees had no clue about her order. Freaky fast? No one seemed in a hurry to resolve the situation. Everyone stumbled around like a scene from a Three Stooges episode trying to figure out what to do. One employee even pointed to the machine that generates online orders and noted that it’s where they usually come out. Obviously, it wasn’t there. I expected the next move to be remiscent of «2001: A Space Odyssey» with a bunch of the employees gathered around the machine, poking it and banging on it, confused by its existence. Instead, a bold employee grabbed a new order sheet to write up another order and said it’d take about 10 minutes to make them up. Hungry people waiting at a party for food that’s supposed to be on its way now? I think not. When I suggested that they figure out how to look up the order that was already placed, one employee said, «Well, I guess I could contact my store manager and maybe they know how to look it up.» I realize that could be a system in place within Jimmy John’s that can’t be accessed by general employees. Still, there should be some way to get the information. Better yet, not lose it in the first place. When we demanded the food be delivered, we were told 20 mins. After 20 minutes had passed, we called and were told the delivery driver just got there and it’d be another 20 minutes. Time frame: food was supposed to be ready for pick up at 12:30. Food was delivered at 1:55PM. Freaky no.

It’s nice that I am able to work so close to downtown Iowa City. I get to try a variety of the local sandwich shops and keep going back to the ones I like. Jimmy John’s is one of those I keep going back to. They do one thing and do it well. They make great subs. Nothing fancy. No fancy breads or exotic ingredients. Just good subs at prices that financially challenged students(and non-students) can afford.
