On a mini vacation family reunion 25 of use had dinner here. After all the road food and junk food I wanted some good southern country food. I was not disappointed I order country fried steak, mashed potatoes, smothered in white gray and corn and sweet tea. With 25 of us I figured it would be a longer wait for our food, the waitress was outstanding taking orders, serving up drinks and keeping the drinks full. When the food came I was not disapointed. Chicken fried Steak was the size of the plate .Very tender the breading was crispy and seasoned well, mashed potatoes were creamy with little bits of potatoes(love home made mashed potatoes) the white gravy was fantastic. I have to say this was the best meal I have had in the ladt few weeks. Thanked the waitress and left her a 25% tip. I don’t mind tipping for great service.

I was in chicken fried steak heaven! The waitress was also very friendly. We arrived with a group of nine and they set us up without any issues. Most of our group ordered the buffet and was satisfied as well.

This is hands down the best place to eat in Iola. I have been here several times and have yet to be disappointed. The last time I had a grilled chicken caesar salad that was absolutely delicious. If you don’t like a lot of dressing, ask for it on the side. The chicken was freshly cooked and the lettuce very crisp. The server was extremely friendly and attentive. I highly recommend coming here if you are in Iola!

A small diner in a small town. Usually means great food. Nope, not this time. My wife ordered a swiss cheese and mushroom omlette. Notwithstanding the fact that the omlette showed up as a cheddar cheese and mushroom omlette, what she had trouble getting down was the canned mushrooms. I had a hsm and cheddar omlette. Deli ham, still it was okay. I ordered a blueberry pancake described as «fluffy». Not. A very dense 8″ manhole cover with a couple blueberries in there. The coffee was good, the staff nice. Probably should have driven through MacDonalds.

We normally get the buffet, and it’s almost always good. Could do with more salad options, but the main course items are usually fresh, hot, and appetizing. Would love to see more fresh food and non-fried food, but for a small-town restaurant, this is top-notch. The best all-around eatery in Iola.

Not impressed. Kinda run down looking. They haven’t updated their menus in I don’t know how long, so when I tried to order a gyro I was informed they don’t sell those anymore. That was disappointing. I settled for a Reuben. It was okay, but not great. The service was okay, but not great. Overall, a very«meh» experience.

This week I visited several small towns in South East Kansas, I grew up in a rural area and love visiting these small towns. I enjoy stopping in at local eateries, to see what the locals are up to… so a place like The Greenery is right up my alley. They offered a lunchtime salad bar and buffet, so that is what we ordered. The hostess allowed us to take the seat of our choice. There were about 5 or 6 other tables dining while we were there. The servers were friendly, and the food was just fine. I enjoyed a salad, hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, and fried chicken. I also sampled their bread pudding for a little desert. Everything tasted good and was seasoned just about right. There were other items on the buffet, but I could not get to everything! I would visit here again next time I am in Iola.

Food on buffet was probably left over from the day before. I would not recommend choosing the buffet. If I pay to eat at a restaurant I don’t expect to eat leftovers.

I had stopped at the farmer’s market in town & asked the locals as I was buying fresh tomatoes for a local family restaurant. 2 people suggested The Greenery & I’m glad that they did. I arrived around 6:30 which I guess is late by Iola standards as there were many diners when I arrived but the last half hour that I was there I was the only diner until one single male who arrived shortly before I left. I did not eat the buffet but ordered a patty melt & country fries. The wait was very long. I don’t know if it was because the country fries took a long time to cook as my waitress never let me know why it was taking so long. I was very glad I had taken a book to read. Well, the wait was worth it as the food was delicious. However, my waitress wasn’t very attentive. There was another waitress who I could tell was a much harder worker & attentive & courteous to her guests.

The Greenery is an excellent restaurant. The restaurant is clean, and well furnished. They have a decent menu and serve breakfast all day being open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 in the evening. They have a daily noon buffet and again for the evening, with a breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday. Friday and Saturday the evening buffet has steak and seafood. The buffet and salad bar is well maintained. The breakfast menu includes the normal offerings for the area. They have a varied choice of sandwiches for lunch and dinner. Their hamburger is one of the best I have eaten anywhere as it is has a generous portion of meat on a large bun and is made from scratch. They have a somewhat limited choice of steaks with KC strip and rib eye but these are as good as steaks as I have eaten and I live in steak country. A special mention must be made of their wait staff. They are friendly and efficient. All around the Greenery is a fine place to dine. It is adjacent to the Best Western Motel there on old highway 169. That said it is off the main track for folks traveling through, but definitely worth the effort it takes to drive through town.
