Spent two nights here for a team build with coworkers and it was lovely! The house looks very much like a tree house, with the tower room Eagle’s Nest perched at the top. I stayed in this cozy room with gorgeous views from all around. In the morning I woke up and opened my eyes to see all the beautiful trees and hear the birds. The cabana(a short walk outside across a bridge) bathroom was equipped with a little heater. Since the rest of my coworkers were, for the most part, sharing bathrooms, I felt spoiled to have my own. The living room is very comfortable and inviting, as well as the sun room and deck. I took about a million pictures of this incredibly unique home. Every corner carries interest, from the spiral staircases to the separate cottage. Having full use of the kitchen and being able to cook our own meals was fun and rewarding. The kitchen is large and well stocked with everything you need. We were able to grill local oysters on the grill, and even bake our own dessert. The hot tub is small but delicious after a long day spent outside, especially when it gets cold at night. The house is a great location for anyone looking to explore the beaches and trails in Point Reyes National Seashore and Tomales Bay. Having a car is key in this area no matter where you stay, but being able to have a home base in such a quiet, beautiful wooded area made the time we spent at the house restful and peaceful. I would highly recommend this place for large groups such as work retreats and intimate weddings so that you can comfortably enjoy the entire house!

We just returned from The Blackthorne Inn a few days ago, and I already want to turn around and go back. The house is simply amazing. The photos on the site are great, but when you are there in person to take in the trees, the stair tower, the fireplace, the sun room and all of the other amazing features at once, it’s even more spectacular. We had a large group up there for a weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday, and it couldn’t have been any better. Everyone was comfortably situated in their rooms, but there was ample common space for people to gather and cook and dance and sing. The décor has a nice modern twist here and there, which is a nice juxtaposition to the dark woods and metal fixtures. You truly feel like you are in a modern tree house castle with every amenity you could want. The hot tub was a constant delight, and all of the deck chairs made it so people could sit out there for hours, just talking and soaking up the sun. Robert was a pleasure to work with; he answered every one of my many questions in a very timely fashion. They have a very impressive movie library, showcasing a huge collection of current films. I highly recommend this space for your next gathering of family or friends as it will not disappoint!

Blackthorne was the perfect backdrop for a short film. The accomadations were extremely comfortable for the 8 of us and the hot tub provided a fine respite after a day of shooting. My second stay was to celebrate my partner’s birthday. We had several rainy days but not even the rain could put a damper on our stay. The Blackthorne swaddled us in comfort. The oversized fireplace warmed our souls. The extensive movie and music library kept us entertained. And the large well-appointed kitchen allowed us to make fabulous meals. 2 stays at the Blackthorne are not enough. I plan to be there again in a month or so. I highly reccommend this place! You can check out photos at: Note: It’s listed as a Bed and Breakfast but it is not.

Stayed here for two nights between hiking trips around Marin County and had one of the most memorable lodging experiences of my life. I can’t comment on the food, but the hot tub in the trees and the tree house rooms are fantastic. And yes, as others have mentioned, try and get the Eagle’s Nest room if you can– it’s not cheap, but it’s worth every penny. The smell, the trees, and the stars are indescribable. My only caveat to anyone thinking of staying here is that you must enjoy seclusion– if you’re the sort of person who can’t live without some electronic device stimulating your brain every waking moment, you probably won’t enjoy your stay here.

This place is the epitome of bed & breakfast. You have the best cooked meal in the morning. Now I’m writing on up up and away, the Eagle’s Nest. That is the most amazing rooms I’ve ever stayed in. You are up in the sky almost. After a certain hour, only you can use the deck with the oh yes, hot tub on it. I’d say the only minus to this place is you have to go outside to use the restroom. To reach this room from the inside you get to climb a spiral stair case and open the door like an attic style, or you can do the boring way and enter in from outside. I say this is a great place for an anniversary unless you are stupid rich and can just afford this place for no particular reason.

If you want to have an Out-doorsy hiking weekend at Point Reyes but not rough-it, the Blackthorne Inn is the perfect place. It is like staying in a secluded tree house cabin. It was clean, beautiful and charming. The bedrooms are far enough from each other that no one can hear sex. Yeah. Don’t deny you haven’t had that issue before. The women who run the inn are only there for the late afternoon and morning so the guest have the run of the house most of the time. The breakfast is served WAY too late at 9:30 and it’s not worth waiting for. Don’t go to Busy Bee Bakery at the end of the street. It’s over-priced and not yummy. The only good breakfast solution we found was driving to Point Reyes Station. What I enjoyed the most was the hot tub after a full day of hiking and the clean bed and bathrooms. btw, there is no TV or internet reception.

My wife and I stayed here for an anniversary a few years back. Really loved the people, the space was beautiful in a way, though a bit challenging for me due to my size. We stayed in the Eagles Nest and as a 6’7″ man, I found many of the stairs and hallways cramped. We had the run of the entire space to ourselves since it wasn’t a weekend, and really enjoyed the private hot tub(if you stay in Eagles Nest, I think its private after 10pm) I could have used a bit more connection to the wide world, but maybe that was a good thing :)

We escaped to Point Reyes to beat the East Bay heat last weekend and were so glad we did! We found the beautiful Blackthorne Inn through Unilocal and the iPHONE– always a winning combination! The inn is quaint and tucked deep in a canyon yet easily accessible. Be aware that most Bed and Breakfasts as well as Inns/hotels/motels are right on the main roads so you do get quite a bit of road traffic noise. Since we were visiting last minute we actually stopped at a couple other places to check them out(and to see if the noise was«that bad»). While it is not city traffic noise, it is not exactly relaxing if your room is located near the front of many properties. However we did see some that the rooms were in the back so it would likely not be that bad. There were also others that were technically«on the road» but tucked back quite a ways so the noise wouldn’t be an issue– just make sure to ask… But hence I digress… the Blackthorne Inn was quiet and very serene, the only noise I heard were the birds and the gentle wind. We were met with a charming check-in and then were off to do some hiking and exploring. I am a 7th generation Californian and am constantly surprised and amazed by our beautiful state.(See our Unilocal on the Pt. Reyes parks). We were only able to stay one night so my review is not as complete as Dave S. I agree that the Eagles Nest room looks amazing but be aware that it only has a full size bed and the bathroom is outside in another building(close by but you have to go outside to get to it). Our room, the Overlook, also had a feeling like being suspended in the trees with a beautiful little balcony. We also had a deliciously heavenly breakfast from one of the most kind and hospitable hosts on the planet! She alone is worth a trip back… There were a few things that I would have wanted to know prior to visiting so I am passing them along here… 1) Our room, the Overlook does have a «private bath» but it is not en-suite. You have to go out into a hallway passed the common staircase. Just a few steps but you could definitely run into someone coming down from the Eagles Nest or out from the Lupine room. No one was staying in the Lupine room when we were there but it could be kind of awkward! The Lupine room does have its own bathroom– very small and the room is quite small. It is a trade-off but I would still choose the Overlook. All of the rooms on the third floor have pitched cedar ceilings so there is an attic feel. I did not see the rooms on the first floor. 2) Hot Tub: There is a cute little hot-tub open to all the guests right outside the Eagles Nest room and about 8 feet from their bathroom. This is open to all guests until 10 pm. Again, the bathroom from the Eagles Nest is outside next to the hot-tub. 3) Other… small things but just FYI –No innkeeper is on site. One of the employees lives a few miles away but she leaves at 6 pm and no one is there but the guests until breakfast. –There is no cell service but they do provide free Wi-Fi and a land line that they do not charge for(even long distance). –Parking is very tricky and the driveway very steep. This Inn is not accessible in any way for someone with a disability –There was no ice, at all. No ice for drinks or coolers –There is a small fridge for the guests to use which came in handy –Great selection of board games and puzzles– we played some seriously competitive Yahtzee! –There are no TVs/hairdryers and other things like that– no big deal Overall it was a great place and we would recommend it!

I like being the first to review something, and I like the Blackthorne Inn even more. Came here for two nights on our little honeymoon. Stayed in the Eagle’s Nest Room. You have to stay in the Eagle’s Nest or else it’s just another B&B in a pretty spot. It’s basically an octagon shaped room at the top of the joint, up in the trees with windows all around. It’s unbelievable. I don’t have any other words for it. The lady who cooks the breakfasts is basically some combination of psychic and magician. She knows exactly what you want and conjures up something that is beyond scrumptuous. I can honestly say, I didn’t want to leave… not for anything. The place is just totally magical. It has convenient access to Pt Reyes which is one of the most underrated spots anywhere. Thank you Blackthorne… thank you very much.

This quiet, secluded and truly magnificent little inn made our recent family fourth of july weekend one to remember forever. As soon as you set foot on the property you feel as if you’re in another world. Though the pictures on their website are helpful, I have to say that the inn is actually much more beautiful in person. Things I liked: 1) very clean with lovely linens and clean bathrooms 2) very comfortable and«cozy»(as my mom likes to put it) 3) such a warm and comforting atmosphere 4) great staff– friendly, helpful, kind 5) delicious breakfast! 6) close to many of the trailheads at Point Reyes National Seashore 7) serene(and gorgeous) forest views from almost every window in the place Thanks for letting us hang out in your«treehouse for adults!» :D
