O’malleys on Cayuga Lake

Another «write off» due to not just poor but horrible service. Arrived early for dinner at 6:00 pm. No line 2 of about 8 tables outside on the deck were occupied. Waited at the hostess stand for someone to seat us. Asked to wait for no apparent reason. Then told it would be a few minutes until we would be seated. Again 6 clean vacant tables??? After a 5 minute wait seated at the table furthest from the view of the lake. The wait began. Then they started seating people at the other tables. Before long all the tables were filled. Still no wait person. Finally a server came and took the orders from the table next to ours. I asked the server if he could take our order while he was there and he said no we weren’t «his» table. We waited longer another server came out and took orders from yet another table (again seated after us) again I asked if she could take our order and was again told it wasn’t «her» table.
When I started to complain about the poor service she said I should stop «yelling» at her. I wasn’t even speaking loudly. I was frustrated and I’m sure that was obvious in my tone of voice but by no means yelling. At this point we got up and left the restaurant. On our way out I stopped at the hostess stand where there were now 2 people apparently doing nothing and explained why we were leaving. I was told that the service had been unacceptable and they were sorry. There was an empty table directly behind them in the bar. I asked if we sat there could we immediately place our order. After a moments thought I was told «they weren’t sure»??? We left.
Unbelievable.

Food was good. I got a black bean burger and it was a good proportion and tasted great. The only downside is that they let people smoke in the patio dinning area. Fairly sure that is illegal, but no one working there seemed to care.

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying next door to O’malleys this past weekend. We went there Friday for what we thought was going to be just dinner and a drink — Well, that Dinner and a Drink ended up turning into probably one too many drinks. We couldn’t drag ourselves away from the place. We had a blast — Chris, the bartender was AWESOME. Makes a might fine Dirty Martini — along with everything else. We really had a blast, so much fun that we decided to repeat it again on Saturday night. Good food, good drinks, GREAT service, and a good jukebox. On Friday night — I got the California Surfer Wrap, which was delicious. My boyfriend got the Salmon Burger, which he really seemed to enjoy. We also split some Calamari which was great, too. On Saturday, we just decided to split some appetizers — We loved the Elgin Dock Fries. Later, we decided to split the Spinach and Artichoke dip. Only suggestion would be to serve the dip with some sort of pita, or mini toasted pieces of bread rather than Tortilla Chips. Other than that, it was pretty great! We had a great time hanging out with Chris and the Locals.

I was hesitant to come given some recent, poor reviews but came based upon a friend’s recommendation. It was well worth it! Beef on ‘Weck was melt in your mouth delicious. I’m a fan of sweet potato fries and their’s didn’t disappoint. Hubby loved his burger and mac-​n-​cheese, too. Staff was friendly and competent and the surroundings/​view lovely. Glad we came.

Where to even begin. Ordered the house steak special medium rare, when received it was well. And when I say well I mean charred. Get the second steak minutes later and it was raw in the middle. Steak comes back out almost Cooked perfectly, start eating the steak and it has this overwhelming char taste to it, there was simply no seasoning to the steak whatsoever. Girlfriend ordered chicken parm, advertised with angel hair pasta. Did not come with angel hair pasta it came with spaghetti. Found an uncooked clam underneath the chicken parm as well. Again the chicken parm was out there probably the worst I have tasted. Then came the rudeness from our waitress. The worst part is the two things we ordered are very simple mindless cooking skills, nothing over the top. The chicken parm was 18 dollars and the steak special was 23. I couldn’t even take the steak home it was that bad. Sorry but this place is a major flop!

Had takeout, and every piece of the meals we got was disappointing. The chef salad with chicken was overpriced for the portions, and they forgot the eggs. The sweet potato fries were soggy and lacked any flavor. Finally the pizza we ordered was not only quite small, but also tasted like a frozen pizza.
On a positive note the steak burger we ordered was quite good, but it was the only good article of food.
It’s common for restaurants to not care about their take-​out but it does not make it any less dissapointing.

The place is actually called O’malleys Cabin on the Lake. It was very hard to find this to review it!
In any case, Very good food, but very loud at times. We eat here every year.

Had the shrimp PO boy sandwich, the Irish fries and coconut shrimp (family of 4) and we were beyond satisfied.
Best place to eat on the lake.
Skip over wolffys (gross) and take the extra mile or two and come here!!!

Great owners, awesome wait staff (yes you Jordan) and incredible setting. Food is solid, nice gastro pub offerings. Philly is my personal fave. Seafood specials are really good.

While vacationing in Interlaken we stayed nearby. We had two meals from Omalley’s both as takeout so I cannot speak to what other reviewers have said about their waitstaff but I was treated well by the owner and manager in my experience.
The food was very tasty, we had the beef on weck, the broiled seafood and the wholly guacamole. The guacamole was absolutely delicious and I am very picky about guacamole! It tasted fresh and with just the right amount of kick. I had the cucumber tomato side salad and that was surprisingly delicious. Because I am gluten free and stay away from dairy they made great suggestions to help me find this dish while I called in my order from the lake. They were really busy and yet took the time to help guide me quickly to a delicious meal I was able to pick up from their dock to go back out to the lake. Earlier in the week I also had the broiled seafood platter that came with potatoes and that was delightful as well. The huge portion was well worth the money.
The restaurant has a very fun and lively vibe to it. People are often out front playing yard games and enjoying the view of the lake. I was pleased to see how many boats enjoy the dock. They are very close to local wineries and there isn’t a lot of options around, making Omalley’s a pleasant surprise. They also serve a lot of local wines by the glass and bottle.
They were very busy and I had to wait 40 minutes for a takeout order one night so be prepared to wait if they are packed. Worth it if you can wait. Any restaurant that has a full parking lot, dock and clean restrooms is worth the wait. Just be prepared to relax, they offer plenty to do while you wait. I would say that some better lighting on the dock would be helpful.

Oh no the owner is now claiming he might close his doors if his customers don’t stop complaining and treating his staff rudely. Really dude? How unprofessional. If your staff can’t handle your clientele that’s YOUR problem. As paying customers you are OBLIGED to give good service regardless.
After 22 years in the business I have never witnesses such a careless attitude toward simple hospitality.
Your girlfriend should not be running your restaurant, you should. I am sure this new sign you posted was indeed because of her. She’s overworked, doubles every day and she tells customers how over it she is.
So go ahead and close. Shoot yourself and your livelihood in your foot. You are not doing anyone any favors by being in business. We quit coming and this new sign you posted on your Facebook page is a clear indication as to why. Cry baby.
