We go frequently. Our favorites are the shrimp, fixed any way you like it, steamed, grilled, fried, coconut, they are all good. Nothing is pre– breaded, good Gulf shrimp. The fish dip is a very tasty appetizer, well made and consistent. It is a 25 mile trip one way and well worth our travel time.

We stopped for a quick bite to eat, I had the crabby patty lunch and hubby had the grouper fingers. Mine was fine, but hubby said although pretty good, the fish tasted like it was fried in dirty grease. He owned an opeated his own seafood restarant for 25 years so I trust what he was saying. We will try it again.

So the diet coke tastes strange like it has root beer in it. They were out of fried chicken… Hmm, but they have a chicken breast … They can’t batter it and fry it? The shrimp tasted like something from the freezer section at a cheap grocery store … and not like the good frozen stuff, more like the brand x store brand. Needless to say, we left most of the food departed and looked for something else to eat.

This place is amazing! Best breakfast we have had in a long time. Biscuits were homemade, skillets are unparalleled. I wish they had one in Jacksonville!!!

Stop here on the way home from the sheriff’s youth ranch in Live Oak with a group of my Defender Motorcycle Club friends. We ordered the all you can eat fried shrimp I think everyone at the table had it. Despite a little confusion on drink orders from the waitress the shrimp came quickly and hot fresh and with a very light batter it was not greasy like some others and said and very tasty. I will return to this place again if I find myself in the area on route 19.

The first thing I would like to mention is the fact that our waitress was very nice. None of our issues have anything to do with the wait staff. We were acknowledged instantly with a cheerful, «Hello!» and a smile and allowed to sit where we chose. The menu looked an interesting mix of country home-style and seafood which got me pretty excited. Of course at someplace called Shrimp Landing I ordered a shrimp dish and so did my husband and we ordered appetizers. One of my favorite things about having moved to the south are fried green tomatoes. When they are well done they are one of the most delectable of savory treats. And just like I always order Hot and Sour soup when I try a Chinese restaurant for the first time, if fried green tomatoes are on the menu I do so at a home cooking place. These dishes and how they are prepared provide a really good barometer for how the food, in general, is going to be. Where our tale takes a turn the wrong way down a one way street is upon visiting the restroom. The walk there my shoes stuck with each step… but I’m willing to look the other way because there are lots of outdoor activities in the area and I don’t eat off the floor.(hopefully!) But the bathrooms and floors could definitely have used some attention from some cleaner and a bit of elbow grease. As I said though, unless the place actually stinks that is something I can easily overlook. What I cannot overlook is poorly seasoned food. I go to a restaurant to get food I don’t normally prepare at home. I go out to indulge in something outside of the everyday. I go out because I enjoy food and I love good food. I do not go to a restaurant to have politics shoved down my throat. The politically correct methods of preparing food hold little interest to me unless they are also, from a culinary point of view, superior. We received our appetizer, a dish of beautiful looking fried green tomatoes. When we opened the little pots of dipping sauce my nose was met with a fine scent of dill and horseradish. Oh, I was looking forward to that first bite… Lo and behold there was no salt at all to be tasted. The whole flavor was flatter than roadkill on I75. With dismay I rose immediately and hunted down our server and asked her if there was salt in any of the food, specifically the fried food. I asked also, with great hope if we might request salt be added to our food during cooking. «Oh no, we don’t salt our food. You do that yourself.» Was the answer. I at once told her that if that was the case we needed to cancel the rest of our order and we’d gladly pay for the appetizer but we didn’t want the food if it wasn’t seasoned. Our server went and got her manager, something I expected to have to happen and was met with a truly abysmal attitude. «No one salts their food.» and«You are going to pay for the whole order.» seemed about all she was capable of saying, oh and, «I have to call my mother.» In all honesty I felt badly for her, she looked very distressed, as if she dreaded what her mother was going to say and trying like crazy not to have to give an inch on what to charge us. The appetizer came to the table and even though we were not going to eat any more of it, we were happy to pay for that. However, never have I ever been to a restaurant where after you have declared the food unsuitable they try and force you to pay for what has yet to come to your table. We tried to cancel the order as soon as we realized we were not going to eat it and we were met with a really bad attitude. I have eaten in restaurants all over the U.S. as far north as Upstate NY, through the midwest in Michigan and Minnesota and I grew up in the San Francisco Bay are eating in restaurants representing cuisines from all over this planet. Never before have I heard uttered such a ridiculous statement as, «No one salts their food.» There are reasons one adds salt to food during the cooking process, not afterwards. We are dealing with chemistry and the function of the human taste buds. Not to mention we are talking about a restaurant in the south where you could lose the salt you had from Big Mac and large fry just walking out to your mailbox. The bottom line: You could not pay me to eat at a restaurant where I had been on the receiving end of such an attitude. If the food is inedible by my standards then I will not eat it and I will not pay for it.

Great all you can eat that changes every day. We went in Tuesday for shrimp that can with fries, hush puppies, and slaw, and they keep bringing it until you tell them to stop. Good service and clean. Will go back for the clams in wednesdays

For breakfast, their biscuits cannot be beat. The service was good this time and people friendly. It’s hard to do breakfast wrong! They are giving Momma Sally’s a run for my breakfast money!

Ate here once. And yes once was enough! Had way over priced fried shrimp for the small portion I received. French fries tasted like they were cooked the day before and reheated. Won’t be getting anymore of my money!

Wow — As a weekender in Inglis, I looked forward to trying the«new» Shrimp Landing on US19… I will NOT look forward to such an outing again! The food was down right awful. The special of the day was grouper — I really should have known better but I thought what the heck! When I asked the waitress where the grouper came from meaning, was it frozen or fresh, she flippantly answered«from the Gulf.» So I said, «Oh you mean it’s fresh?» She replied«of course.» Did I say I really should have known better? What came was«faux grouper» — I guess she forgot to tell me that. I took one look at the size of the filet and told my husband… definitely not grouper! He begged me not to make a scene so I had a few bites and then set it aside. My advice to the owners… don’t lie! It didn’t look like grouper nor did it have the taste or texture of grouper. Worse yet, the size of the filet did not seem appropriate for a fish that is illegal if under 20 inches — definitely too small! All of this probably won’t matter anyway — they’ll likely be gone soon enough because EVERYTHING we ordered was very bland, without a lick of seasoning, the salad was anemic, the«fresh corn» was obviously poured right out of a can, tinny taste and all! Too bad — it would have been great to have a «seafood restaurant» with even mediocre quality in Inglis… this place wasn’t even mediocre, just awful!

Shrimp Landing is one of very few options for dinner around Inglis – and yes, it’s in Inglis and not Crystal River despite the address provided here. With a seafood and sea-faring theme, it could be a pretty cool place, but the food really doesn’t measure up. I had fried shrimp and it tasted as if the shrimp were frozen and not fresh nor local and overall the sides – cole slaw and fries – were not impressive, either. The waitstaff is nice enough and most folks dining in seemed to be locals and thus regulars, but the food failed to take advantage of the location(quite near the Gulf) and the bevy of fresh seafood coming into nearby ports like Cedar Key. Just a very typical country cookin’ place like you find all over the South, which would be fine if its food was remarkable as some such places certainly are – Robinson’s in Cedar Key or Sisters’ in Brandford, in example. As things stand, I’m not impressed though, really. A pity, since there aren’t many options in this area without going all the way to Crystal River and the countryside is lovely for nature-viewing, camping, and hunting.
