This is not a review but me paying respect on the passing of Tsering Thondup. The loss of a gentle & knowledgeable soul through me for a loop when I walked in yesterday expecting to have another great conversation with him. I had moved away from the area so I hadn’t been in for some years & had just been literally talking about Vajra Books & Gifts with a friend yesterday & decided to stop in. Blessings to his family & friends at such a loss of a blessed amazing soul, though I am late in finding out, it just goes to show this man touched souls. Peace & Blessings Tsering, may your new journey find many beautiful wonders.

What a great place to purchase an unusual gift for someone else or yourself. Truly unique used books, vinyl, Tibetan jewelry or a vast array of potential offerings. Jack was quite fair in the prices we paid for some jewelry we just couldn’t live without. All in all a perfect place to listen to some amazing music and browse a bit of the day away after a delicious meal a few doors down at Stuff I Eat. So glad we stopped in and for certain we’ll return next time we need a gift or just to stop by.

This is a truly unique book store located in an area of the city that you would not expect a GREAT used book shop to be located within. Meaning, all around Vajra there are empty storefronts and out of business businesses. Perhaps the reason is, this business has been located here for over twenty-five years. Downtown Inglewood was once a thriving commercial hub. Now, there are few reasons to travel to the area. This being said, Vajra is one of them. Owned by a very nice Tibetan man, this book shop offers a great cross section of use books, vinyl LPs, CDs, and the like. They are all very well organized and housed in a clean environment — the kind you would expect from a bookshop of this type. This shop also offer things like a nice selection of vintage cuff links. So, this store can be your One Stop Shop. Parking is very easy to find on Market Street. So, that is not a problem. Though this place is a bit out of the way for many people around the L.A. area, it is worth the drive to check it out. You never know what you will find. Recommended.

An unintentionally unique space — think of it as all-in-one bazaar, time-capsule, and tattoo parlor for the human soul; meaning, it will create an indelible impression upon your spirit. Tsering Thondup(proprietor/host/MC) has apparently weathered more downtown revitalizations than Lindsay Lohan has relapses. I gotta go back in order to distill the essence of the place into a coherent review.

I love this book store! There are so many books from long ago and its VERY organized(chaos). I get a warm feeling when I step into a crammed book store like this and walk among floor to ceiling stacks of books from today to two hundred years ago. Lots of old magazines, great vinyl collection, including singles and wonderfully charming vintage greeting card and found photo collection. Great prices and easy to find what you’re looking for because the owner is so nice and helpful. PLUS this gem is right next to Stuff I Eat, one of the best restaurants in the LA area. You gotta eat there! Buy a book to read while you chow down on organic ethnic food!

This unique bookstore has been in Inglewood for as long as I can remember — since 1975 perhaps? It’s an undiscovered jewel — with books, magazines and vinyl from way back when. Plus everything is reasonably priced. The owner, Tsering Thondup, is interesting to talk with and is also an accomplished Tibetan artisan trained in the old school. I hadn’t been to the bookstore for a while, then dragged in my grown-up daughter in with me last week — and couldn’t get her to leave the cookbook section.
