I’m rating this beauty supply very high because it’s one of the few that are actually for Africans/African Americans that’s owned by African Americans. They’re very friendly and they normally will give you free samples. I’d like to get more natural black products featured in their store because there is definitely a demand for them. We’re waking up and realizing that we have to be sensible about what we use on our hair and skin. Support a black owned business so money flows into our community. It’s no secret that 99% of supply stores are owned by non-blacks.

«…Happy, happy, happy, happy people… ooohhhyeah, Happy people… iii yii yiiii ow, happy people…» Frankie Beverly and Maze Yep…you gotta know the near ending of that song to appreciate that line, but this place represents the love, peace and nappiness in me. If you’ve met me, you know I got some nappy hair. Try to turn that into a negative if you will, but it is cool with me. With the myriad of beauty salons in the area and the dominant style of Hollywood Black glamour is an expensive long flowing straight weave, I could mos def keep up with the times. But fuck it. I’ve never been a Barbie type bitch, more of a «kinky» sistah. I like the natural styles. Twists, braids,.knots, kinky fros, afropuffs, etc… But there was a time in my military life and subsequent corporate life when I wore my hair permed. ‘Glad that I can be ME now. Yes, lawdy! The secret to wearing Afrikan,(with a ‘k’…a different meaning) natural styles is moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Happi People carries beauty supplies specifically geared for healthy and shiny nap-licious hair, and for straight styles, too. I picked up some of the regular moisturizers that I use and enjoyed a 10% discount with a card that was given to me in the street as I exited a client’s spot. That’s how they roll in Inglewood, street marketing apparently works. They are closed on Sundays. They are at church. The card says so.
