Union Jacks has a very, very good deep dish pizza and a decent pub food menu as well as a huge beer selection. In the warmer months, when they have the front windows open, there is nothing like sitting at a window table, feeling the fresh air rifle your face, feeling all of the beer tickling your nose, and watching the people walking along the sidewalks of the Rip.

Great place to watch soccer! I went here on a night that Indy Eleven was playing. We were able to get a table in the bar no problem. The service was fantastic for being as busy as they were! The food was your typical bar food but no complaints! Great beer selection. I will definitely be back to watch another soccer game.

There are times when you simply encounter the right person at the right time. Such was the case today when I ventured over to Broad Ripple’s Union Jack Pub, one of Broad Ripple’s landmark establishments having graced the neighborhood since 1979. The truth is I was having kind of a melancholy Mother’s Day and was really just in the mood for some solitude, some reading, a quality meal and, yeah, a little bit of kindness. The minute I hit the door at Union Jack, not literally despite being a tad reckless in the wheelchair, I knew that I’d made the right choice. I was greeted warmly and enthusiastically by Rebekkah, who would end up also being my server. As I’ve noted, I don’t always frequent Broad Ripple — many of the businesses aren’t particularly wheelchair friendly and parking can be a royal pain. On Sunday, parking is free at meters and it just feels less chaotic. While I’d been to the Union Jack in Speedway, though it has been years, I’d actually never been to Union Jack on Broad Ripple. I’m assuming they’re related, though in looking them up they have two separate websites. So, hey, who knows? Union Jack is fairly wheelchair friendly. The front door is a larger wooden door, but not difficult to manage. While I didn’t travel the entire restaurant, the layout was such, mostly booth/table combos, that a customer in a chair can sit in a variety of spaces. As I entered, a sign was out noting to seat yourself. I chose a comfortable 4-top and Rebekkah was right behind me moving the chair in such a quick way I’m not sure I even saw her do so. Union Jack is an English style pub with an American twist. It’s the kind of place you go to watch soccer, especially the Indy Eleven and league play, though they also offer regular events. The menu is wide ranging, though there’s an emphasis on New York and Chicago-style pizza along with a popular fish & chips and various other sandwiches, salads, soups and more. The beer menu includes 21 rotating taps, malt scotches, whiskies and more. While there are multiple reviews that comment about slow service, my experience was that the entire dining experience is at a leisurely place. In some ways, it reminded me of Giordano’s in the sense that you don’t necessarily want to go there if you’re in a huge rush. The same seems to be true here. On this day, when I was in the mood for major chilling out, I found the pace and the atmosphere just perfect. Rebekkah took my unsweetened iced tea order and allowed me time to peruse the menu. I was initially concerned as the menu seems to emphasize parties larger than one. However, deeper looking offered up some«small» options and my selection, a 7″ personal pub pizza that comes with 2 toppings and choice of sauce. I chose pepperoni and sausage. While I’d contemplated a breadstick appetizer, most of the appetizers seemed a bit pricey and meant to share so I avoided it. I didn’t time the arrival of the meal, though I would agree that it seems to take just a touch longer than the current trend of four-minute, five-minute and six-minute pizzas. I didn’t find it unreasonable and thought the quality of the final product made it worth the wait. Rebekkah was sure to get me a refill even before my pizza had arrived — a definite plus. The pizza put nearly every other personal pizza to shame with the only possible exception being W.B.‘s. When you order personal, it’s usually compromising toppings and taste. Not here. The toppings were plentiful and it was still surprisingly thick. Seriously, I was very happy. Rebekkah’s service was the real winner here. She was friendly and familiar, yet not inappropriately so. She was timely and attentive. She was warm, genuinely warm. I don’t know if she knew I was a Unilocaler, as signing in can be tracked, or if I just seemed like I needed attention or if she’s simply always like this? The truth is the service was not only what I needed personally, but it was simply stellar service. It almost felt like I was in a smalltown diner where«babe» isn’t flirting but a sign of genuine warmth and welcome. I could tell she was actually listening, because she would respond to even small comments — «thank you» always got a response and she did this several times. One of her closing comments, said with utmost sincerity, was«I appreciate you.» Like I said, sometimes you meet just the right person. Today, I wanted to relax, enjoy my paper, have a quality meal and feel welcomed. The atmosphere was terrific, the pizza top notch and the service was the kind of service that makes you immediately start thinking about your next visit.

This place serves underwhelming food, and they have a misplaced sense of pride about it. Their«Union Jack» Deep Dish Pizza has a bland, cracker-like crust, a tomato sauce with WAY too much oregano(I usually like oregano), and POUNDS of bland cheese. The beer is fresh and cold.

We don’t get here as much as we like so it’s a treat when we do. The deep dish pizza is some of the best in the city, hands down. The beer selections are plentiful. The menu has many options but we were definitely there for pizza. Service was quick for a week night. The place wasn’t too crowded but it was early in the week so this was not unexpected. We like meeting our friends here because we have never been rushed to leave. We can hang out, talk, eat, drink and relax. We need to not wait too long to go back!

I’m pretty sure I just had the best fish and chips of my life here today… Breading was perfectly crispy with its peppery seasoning. I’m not a huge soccer fan but my husband is so I will skip the review on the atmosphere here since I probably won’t be the greatest judge of a sports pub. But I will say that everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I clearly only focused on the food, which in my opinion is the most important part(this is up for debate). Anyway, friendly and prompt service, above average quality food. Fairly extensive booze menu. Just… Don’t come here if you hate soccer! If you don’t mind soccer, at least come for the food and beer.

Union Jack’s is a decent place for a drink. One of those places that I never choose myself but am never opposed to when someone suggests it. One of their big draws are the garage-style windows on the bar side that they can open in good weather. They have a pretty good draft list and some nice cocktails. I am especially partial to Pimm’s Cup and their little cucumber & gin number. I’ve had food there on a few occasions and it hasn’t been something to rave about, although I have yet to try the deep dish pizza. In one of my many SNAFUs where I did not fully read the menu, I ordered the stuffed pizza assuming it would be a stuffed crust pizza. What came out was something like an apple pie, but with cheese and sauce in place of the apples? It classifies as one of the stranger«Amercian style» food item that I’ve eaten. The service isn’t extremely attentive but they’ve always been friendly, so no complaints there. It’s not a great place for a late-night drink. A few of us popped in here around 11 on a Saturday and they were shutting down, although the bartender very kindly did a final call for us. If you’re interested in trivia they have Family Feud-style trivia on Tuesdays.

This place is great! It’s been in Broadripple for really long time, they’ve got a huge menu, a huge beer menu with lots of rare items and Bruce. The service is usually good the place is a little bit rough around the edges, but that’s what gives it its character.

Our first time in trying brunch. We went in reverse getting a cinnamon roll first. It was warm and very fluffy with tons of cinnamon filling thru out. With the cinnamon roll we ate crispy bacon because well you got to have bacon. We ordered a brunch pizza and added ham. Loved it. Nice thin crisp crust. A thin layer of hollandaise sauce, sausage, scrambled eggs, cheese and ham. One pizza was more then enough for the two of us. Well on top of half a cinnamon roll and bacon. Very good service and on the dinning room side it was fairly quiet. We will be back for brunch again.

Great, great and more great! Bloody mary, great, queso appetizer great, fish n chips delicious, beer choice on point, breaded tenderloin wonderful, staff honest and nice. Pizza of course is great too. I hadn’t been to this location since I was a kid and enjoyed and appreciated this place so much more. Plus live music on the bar side!

Came here on the recommendation of a friend who used to live in the area. I’m so glad I asked him and even more glad he answered with this suggestion. We ordered the deep dish pizza with two crowns(toppings). I love deep dish. I love Uno’s in Chicago. This. Was. BETTER. By far. It took about 40 min(which they tell you right on the menu). Because of the wait we also ordered an appetizer of Pretzel Bread Sticks. Another excellent choice for sure. Our server did a great job and it was certainly busy. The table behind us got a traditional pizza and it looked equally amazing and I’ll most likely try that next time… or perhaps I’ll just order both! If you’re a soccer fan, this is place also. Soccer friendly indeed! Excellent décor to grab your attention — feels like a movie British pub. If your around Indy, this is the place to go for sure.

Union Jack is probably more of a 3.5 stars place for me. I typically order the Spicy Grilled Portabella sandwich. As a long-term on-and-off-again vegetarian, I’ve tasted many a sad, slimy portabella wrap/sandwich, more out of necessity and menu scarcity than anything else. Union Jack offers the best version I’ve tasted, heightened by the spicy giardiniera pepper mix and aioli. It becomes a sloppy, spicy, tasty mess to eat… you don’t even really need the pepper jack. Union Jack has a decent tap list in comparison to rest of Broad Ripple, with many local breweries featured. I prefer the quiet enclosed section of the restaurant, rather than the open-air portion that looks out over Broad Ripple Avenue; there are less tvs and less patrons to deal with. I’ve not been blown away by the service at Union Jack, but it is fairly easy to find a table there when your favorite restaurants are too busy. Case in point: Do you know Union Jack offers brunch on the weekend? So, when you are quoted a 1 hour wait at 3 Sisters and you’re in a rush, just walk over to Union Jack and be immediately seated. The breakfast offerings are über-basic and they won’t taste as fantastic or homemade/fresh, but they do the job. Order the celery-seed-heavy bloody mary and breakfast pizza, and you’ll leave very satisfied.

Came in for brunch on a Sunday. Stood by the hostess stand for 5 minutes with no one there… then when someone saw us they seemed surprised we were there. The dining room only had a few groups in it. Hostess finally came out and we were seated. Luckily our waitress was much more attentive. I won’t fault the whole experience just on that because everyone has an odd day, but if you are going to have people wait to be seated, you should have someone up there. Even if you aren’t super busy at Sunday brunch. This will be silly but I loved the cups the coffee was served in. It was a really nice touch. This was my first brunch trip and I really liked the food. It’s hard to pass up the chicken wrap on the lunch menu though because it is truly the best chicken wrap I have ever had. The food is great and the place has a lot of character.

The only way that I can summarize Union Jacks is with a simple«meh.» We got the pretzel sticks with queso as an appetizer. The pretzels were good, but I wasn’t a fan of the queso. My boyfriend was excited about the personal pub pizza, however his excitement quickly dissipated upon eating it. It arrived with what seemed to be normal pepperoni application(with one random pepperoni on top?) despite him ordering double pepperoni. My California chicken wrap with coleslaw as the side was pretty average. The avocado was only at one end of the wrap, and there was a small serving of coleslaw. Overall, we thought Union Jacks was overpriced for the average taste.

I didn’t expect a lot from Union Jack’s, but the food was delicious and that’s all that matters! Service wasn’t impressive but that’s not what I was there for. Our food came quickly and the windows were all open to the outdoors, making fun a comfortable, breezy environment. The place was decently full and I’ve heard that their deep dish pizza is incredible. I ordered the Penne Rosa and I HIGHLY recommend it. It’s a large meal and I got to finish the rest off later. The sauce was incredible and there was just the right amount. I’m craving it all over again after I type. I’ll be back.

I’ve heard a lot about this Union Jack’s pizza biz, so when given the opportunity to try it, I was all aboard that train! We went for the deep dish meat pizza and let me tell you… this may be sliding right up to my favorite pizza place in Indy… no joke people, this place has got it goin on! Our server was training someone, which sometimes can slow things down, but this crew was on their game because not only were they super helpful and quick to get our order in and out to us, they were super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about that menu! Can’t wait to come in and get another ‘za!

Nice beer selection and soccer is on the tv a lot of the time which pleases my husband. A okay bar food. I usually get the planet burger and fries. My favorite was the Texas toast grilled cheese and onion rings but they did away with the sandwich and switched to premade onion rings at some point. Bummer. The lady who waits on us during the day is always super pleasant. Enjoyable lunch + beer.

Soccer and beer! Seriously, Union Jack is great for those who are beer fanatics, soccer fanatics or simply soccer and beer fanatics. Indy Eleven games are always televised here and the small pub makes for a great fan atmosphere. Be careful though, if you want a decent viewing table you have to head there early.

This is a great soccer bar. I have been here a few times to watch games. The space is big enough to be able to play multiple games at the same time too. Service has always been pretty solid too. They have some nice beers on tap. a bit more european oriented. The menu is big too. Last time I went I had the pork tenderloin. It was massive and delicious. Plus Chelsea won that day so it was a good time!
