Rose is a Racist. I stopped in because Stoney’s was recommend by a friend. I picked up a 6 of Robert the Bruce and a random IPA. After Rose checked out the previous customer, she finished telling her story about her recent car accident. The customer leaves. She then rings me up and looks me in the eye and says, «My friend and I are in love with the same person.» Me, «oh?» Rose, «It is America. My friend has fought his entire life to keep immigrants out of this country. His whole family has. His ancestors started by fighting the Spanish.» Me, «That is quite a story.» I pay and leave. So everyone is clear, I am of Spanish ancestry. It did not feel welcoming, and it ruined my evening. You may do whatever you wish, but I will be recommending that my friends not go to Stony’s. Just ask yourself if you agree with this view and whether you are ok with turning a blind eye to bad behavior. Too bad, they did have a good beer selection.

The thing that makes Stoney’s special is the cramped, poorly lit room. It sounds bad, but trust me, it’s why you’ll come back. See, when you go to a place like Kahn’s on Keystone, everything is clean and bright and there’s plenty of room to walk and browse, and you’ll find nice things, of course, but why wouldn’t you find nice things? It’s a nice place with nice things and it’s just meeting your expectations sans excitement or dramatic flair. There is no adventure. Every time I walk into Stoney’s, I look to Rose and nod, then embark on a quest deep into a magical booze dungeon, where mystery and intrigue and exotic liquors lay around every corner. There is no space. The lighting only marginally exists, dim and blocked by towers of hooch screeching toward the sky. If even one more patron comes, you know the store may burst. Yet somehow… somewhere… buried deep in this dungeon… are some of the most obscure Trapist ales I’ve ever come across. And I’m always finding new things, and having my expectations based on the exterior and interior BLOWNAWAY by the actual content of the store. In my three years in Irvington, Stoney’s has never been any less than an adventure. So eat across the street at the Steer In and grab a night cap here. Tell Rose I said hi!

Just as the reviews stated, this is a hidden gem. Great beer selection and friendly service. I have found my go to liquor store on the near east side.

A real diamond in the rough! The east side is notorious for shitty booze marts but this one fates outside the lines! Great beer selection and a bomb bourbon gallery!

It’s pretty much unpossible to dislike this place. My top 10 reasons for going: 10. Rose 9. I get to pass by Steer In, which is always a hoot. 8. Rose 7. Proximity to my house 6. Rose 5. Supporting local businesses 4. Rose 3. They carry Las Rocas(one of my go-to spanish wines) 2. Rose(seriously love her) 1. Beer Selection(and this is coming from a wine-gal) Yes, everyone else who has reviewed has said it, but holy wow. The selection. There is definitely something for everyone, even those who don’t drink beer as their first choice, like moi.

I’ll be honest, had Stoney’s not been recommended to me… I might not have ventured in. From the outside it has that«scary liquor store» look. You know what I’m talking about. Well fear not, this place is a really nice Ma and Pa type with a killer craft beer selection. They’ve always had what I was looking for(and some things I didn’t expect to find). The owners and employees are really friendly and are willing to help you get the beers you’re searching for.

Best local craft beer store on the east side, if not in town. Kahn’s can rival it with sheer numbers, but the random variety in such a small building make it a powerhouse. I can always find something worth my while here, whether an obscure Belgian brew, delicious sours from Michigan, or conveniently cooled beers from Sun King, Flat 12, and Oskar. Hit them up. And buy that enormous Stone from behind the counter, holy crap.

I’ll keep this short and sweet — their craft beer selection is no joke. Very impressive. Beer lovers will not be disappointed.

Ah Stoney’s. how do I love thee? Let me count the ways… Stoney’s is what I like to call«ol’ reliable». If I can’t find what I want while out in other parts of town, I KNOW that I can get it at Stoney’s. Sure, the store is what I’d love for my house to look like were I ever to become a «hoarder», but just look at what the aisles are crammed full of– wonderful hoppy goodness! Sure, they have crap macro-brews for those with un-educated palates, but for those of who love our craft beers, this is THE place. They stay up on seasonals, special brews, and one-offs, so I know that every single time I walk in, there’s going to be a beer I haven’t tried yet, which is an amazing feeling! I think I’ll wrap all of this up because I’m beginning to sound like an alkeyholick, but if you like your beer you need to get to Stoney’s. Seriously. Your liver will thank you.

If you are an eastsider, then you are probably quite familiar with Stoney’s. It an eastside insitution. I think the best thing about Stoney’s is their beer selection. It has shocked and amazed friends from Chicago. They have everything you could possibly think of looking for, plus a lot you don’t even know to look for. I make it a point to grab something new every time I am there. The second best thing about Stoney’s is their friendly staff. They always have recommendations and will help you find what you are looking for. They’ve even come up with options for me when I didn’t want to buy a whole bottle of liquer for a recipe.

It is smaller quarters inside this neighborhood jewel, but you soon see the reason is to make as many unique beers available to us as possible. They have any kind you could ever want, and will order it(if they can) if they don’t. Nine times out of ten Rose will be behind the counter ready to direct if you need help or recommendations. We live 2 minutes from here, and boy are we glad we do. It is nice to have access to this kind of variety for reasonable pricing.(i.e. 6 pk of oberon or 4 pk of Osiris=$ 9.99) We love this shop and don’t care to shop elsewhere!

This is the only eastside liquor store we shop in. There is an awesome selection of «good’ beer(including Sun King). The owners/cashiers are super friendly and occasionally will give you an aloe plant. :)

I absolutely love Stoney’s. The cramped little aisles are filled with the best craft beers. Or if you just want a sixer of a domestic, hey, that’s ok, too! The prices are average to that of your local liquor store. $ 8-$ 9 for a craft brew, etc.
At the register, you’ll find Rose who will drum up some of the best and most interesting conversations ever. If Rose isn’t there, you’ll find a guy who’s a bit more quiet and introverted. He always tells me to «Be careful out there,» as if it’s a zombie apocalypse. Nope, just the Beast side.

This is a little beer/liquor/wine shop on Indy’s eastside near the Little Flower and Emerson Heights area. It Isn’t a very big shop, but the shove as much product in there as they can. This store covers the thinks I love(craft beer, a good selection of the local brewer’s like Sun King, Brugge, etc. and a respectable selection of Scotch) and the the other stuff other people love(cheap, fizzy, yellow swill). :) Prices aren’t bad, considering since you are supporting a local business, you might tend to pay a higher price on some products. However, isn’t it worth it to support your locals? I think so. Small parking lot, gets busy on Friday’s and Saturday’s, and the staff is always very pleasant.
