We have eaten here several times. Usually we have an awesome experience, but tonight our waitress was not familiar with the menu. We had to get the manager to explain it to her. Also, our dessert was burnt. However, the manager made everything right by taking care of our meal for us. It is refreshing to find a manager who stands behind the food and service.

First time visit and I will definitely be back! My entire family of BBQ lovers enjoyed dinner, even the toddler! I had rib tip dinner and it was tender and seasoned just right! The fried biscuits were very good and so was the apple butter. Business was a bit slow on a Friday night. Really hoping this place lasts. I hope to make this a regular.

My family and I went in 30 mins before closing time and as first time visitors and were greeted with SUPERB customer service. The food was beyond all expectations. REAL bbq!

Love it. We have been eating here since it opened in March 2015 because we used to drive to their West 86th location Their food is always consistently good. We enjoy their choice of sides which are always fresh. Baby back ribs are our favorite thing on the menu.

We really liked this place, first visit. Clean, friendly, and empty on a Monday early afternoon. Started with fried mushrooms, hot tea, and a very competent and professional server, Shane. Shrooms come with a smokey dipping sauce that set the mood for some great BBQ to come. Full rack of Baby Backs. Yes. Our choice of dry or wet, dry comes with wet on the side, which is how it should be, far as we’re concerned. It’s big, it’s long, it’s meaty and smokey and we couldn’t even share it until gone so we took 5 bones home. Sampler platter… 3 choices so I got brisket, turkey, and pulled pork and I’m jealous of their brisket smoking ability because try and try again I can’t smoke a brisket to this level of tender at home no matter how hard I try. And I have tried. Great smoke ring, cut with a fork, tasty and smokey. Turkey was not nearly as smoke drenched as I like, but still tender and really pleasant to eat. White, not pink. Pulled pork was good, not the best I’ve ever had, but a really close second. All in, no room for desert, two big meals plus two to take home for $ 50. Yeah, we’re coming back, don’t know why it took us so long to visit in the first place.

Carry-out was quick and easy. Unfortunately, I don’t think the food lives up to the hype. We ended up with brisket and a full slab of ribs. The meat was a bit under-seasoned. Most of all all of the sides, with the exception of fried biscuits and apple butter, were all disappointing. The green beans were overly sweet, macaroni and cheese — bland, potato salad — ok, and the collard greens — full of fatty and burnt meat pieces. Also, the portions were extremely small. They came in what should be sauce cups.

Very disappointed. When my food was served there was a finger nail on my plate! I returned the food and the«apology» I received from the manager was«I heard about how your food came out, they are making you a new plate now.» Then I received the check and they did not even discount my bill! I do not normally complain, but that was disgusting and I feel at minimum we should have been offered a discount. I will not return.

I have been to the Squealers on W. 86th a number of times and was curious why that location(and the Mooresville location) were«Squealers award winning barbecue» and this location was Squealers BBQ Grill. My son and I visited this location for lunch on Sunday when it was quite empty. We were seated immediately and service was prompt. My son ordered a burger. I think it was called J’s burger and I ordered the«Texas-style» brisket sandwich. The food came out in a timely manner and was warm when it got to the table. In fact, my son’s burger was so hot that he couldn’t eat it right away. Not a bad thing but the BBQ sauce ran down the burger and saturated the lower bun making it sloppy to eat, but that BBQ! He said the burger was good but hard to eat. My brisket sandwich looked like overcooked beef roast from a slow cooker so I took a couple pieces off of the sandwich a pulled it. It just crumbled into small pieces. I have had the opportunity to eat real Texas BBQ brisket and it was firm and juicy and slightly elastic when pulled. It had a good outer bark and tasted of smoke. The brisket at Squealers on Sunday did not taste of smoke and had a very small smoke ring and was not elastic at all. It was roast beef. Luckily, the hot sauce gave I some flavor. Also, the coleslaw was way too sweet for me. If you are going to be a BBQ restaurant, you need to get the BBQ right first and then work on the details of everything else.

My wife and I tried this place out last Friday night for dinner. The greeters seemed like they’d rather be somewhere else. The place had no style at all — nothing. Walls, windows, chairs and tables — boring. I really love pulled pork so I ordered the dinner plate with barbecue beans and steak fries. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork had very little sauce and what it did have was pretty flat tasting. We both had ordered our food with the«Smoky Sweet» sauce and there was neither smoke or sweet flavor — just flat. Really — I almost couldn’t tell it was barbecued. The beans tasted just like the Van Camp’s pork and beans I remember eating when I was a kid. Maybe they were. Runny and no real flavor. The steak fries were fine — thank goodness. The best part of the meal was the fried biscuits and apple butter — they were really good. I will say that our server took great care of us and I tipped her well for that. But I go to a restaurant for the food and we will not be going back to any Squealer’s again.

Baby back ribs! First time we went they were amazing. And we’re still wearing the rose tinted glasses from that time. Went around 3 today for a take out. They only had one rack of baby back ribs. Yup, a restaurant known for its ribs only had one rack, at 3pm, on a Saturday? Saint Louis style was my alternative, which I went with, but I just don’t like them as much as the baby back. And this is the second time I’ve been that they have run out of ribs. That time the server said that was very rare. 2 out of 6 rare. And then I found out they had forgotten one of my sides. Still love the baby back ribs, but starting to lose faith.

I love this place ! My review is super late but we reserved a party back in December ! The owner kept us informed and seats were saved. We had 3 waiters total and drinks were always flowing! My boyfriend and I always split the full slab baby back ribs and share our two sides ! It’s perfect ! Great place to enjoy food and cold beer.

The fried pickles are good. If you tasted the bbq without knowing where it came from you would know immediately that wherever it came from was a chain. If you’re ok with that then there’s no reason not to go to squealers. If you like bbq you’ll probably have a decent time, but you could do better somewhere else.

If you like smoked food and southern-type cuisine, you’ll love this place! As someone who doesn’t usually enjoy that type of food, I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed a salad and pulled pork and my daughter had a kids meal that came with ice cream! Also, instead of the usual coloring pages, the kids meal came with bendy sticky straws for kids to build things with. Very innovative! Service wasn’t great, food was wonderful, atmosphere is cool. If it wasn’t for the guys in the kitchen though, this place would sink.

I’m a self proclaimed BBQ fanatic and have authentic BBQ all across the country. With that said, this place’s pork was tender, moist and flavorful. Their sides of their baked beans, macaroni n’ cheese and coleslaw were excellent. We ate here for lunch on a Monday and while they weren’t super busy at all, it did take our food an extra long time to come out, so I could definitely see how the service would be subpar on busier weekend nights(Thurs.-Sat.). Our waitress did bring us a sampling of all of their sauces in small cups to try, however it would’ve been nice to already have them at the table as we sometimes like to mix sauces. I would return.

Last weekend was our first visit to this Squealer’s location.(It’s been quite some time since I went to the one on W. 86th.) We had three adults and three rather picky boys between 10 and 12. Several of us had the pulled pork entrée-it was YUMMY and reasonably priced considering you got your choice of two sides plus fried biscuits and apple butter. Their sweet BBQ sauce was excellent(you could also have a hotter sauce or mix the two). Two of the kids had kids meals-pulled pork sandwich and corn doggies-which they liked. The oldest opted for the adult pulled pork platter, which proved to be too much for him. The kids all got sundaes with their meals, which were popular. They all liked what they had. The server we had, Jewel, was excellent! She was on top of everything-both efficient and friendly. They had TVs here and there so we could watch the game. A full bar is available. I recommend this place for fine barbeque! Give it a shot.

Had beef brisket, slaw and potato salad with the half and half sauce. Brisket was so tender and falls apart. Flavored were perfect for the meat and sauce. The slaw was a touch mild and potato salad just ok. An excellent lunch place.

This was my first trip to Squealers. I was a bit worried when I saw some of the reviews. I’m glad we went anyway. I had the breaded tenderloin. The breading was very light and not greasy at all. The meat was tender and juicy. My husband had the pork BBQ sandwich. The meat had an incredible smoky flavor. I can honestly say I was in HOGHEAVEN at Squealers. By the way, the service could not have been better. We will be back!!!

Great BBQ. Our server was very friendly and very apologetic when an order for someone who had mentioned an allergy came out wrong. She immediately corrected it and brought out a replacement meal.

The only reason this place gets 1 star is because I can’t give it zero! This is definitely a case where I should have listened to the other reviewers! We had quite possibly the worst experience dinning out ever here, from the moment we are seated until we left. Starting with the hostess station they were disorganized, unprofessional and arguing with each other in front of customers. Yes the booths were Horribly uncomfortable and the décor was generically bland at best. Our server was absolutely awful and seemed like this was the last place on earth she wanted to be. When we Finally got our food it was mediocre at best. Reminded me of bland hospital food. Certainly not worth the wait or price. As mentioned by others the sauces were in tiny cups and you had to ask for more which seemed to bother the waitress a lot. I would never go back to Squealers, even if it was Free!

The Squealers on the west side is one of my favorite bbq spots in town, the food here was just as good, sadly the service wasn’t great. I waited almost 10 minutes to put my drinks in, then it took another 10 for someone to take my order. The strange thing is when I was there last week it was barely full. The location on the west side is always packed during the week and the service is outstanding. Service was a big disappointment here. That being said, the location is great, right off Allisonville rd and 465. The facilities are big and very clean and much brighter than the west side location. My favorite food at Squealers is the fried ribs(app), the Squealers favorite(main) and the fried biscuits(side). I’ve never seen fried ribs before. They smoke the ribs like you’d expect then they batter them and deep fry them. This leaves an amazingly crispy crust on the outside with melt in your mouth smoked rib meat inside. Get the spicy bbq to dip them in and you are all set. Squealers favorite is the standard pulled pork sandwich with a nice portion of coleslaw on top. I love the creamy slaw with the spicy and smokey bbq pork. Lastly, you can’t go to Squealers without getting their fried biscuit and apple butter. Light fluffy biscuit with a crispy fried exterior. The apple butter gives it the perfect hit of sweetness to balance out the fried aspect. Although they need to work on their service in a big way, the food is still outstanding.

Just left after spending 20 minutes in a booth with no server coming by. If it’s busy you definitely do not want to stop they probably will never get to you. If management sees this I was there 5 o’clock on Sunday not very busy blonde hostess was about brainless and waitress with lips tattooed on her neck was lazy. By the way, GT South’s service is excellent.

This is the first time that I have visited this particular squealers location. As compared to the restaurant on the west side of town, this one is larger and has more space for groups to meet up. My rating is average — food was good. Service was good. The number of steps and corners and other areas where a person could get tripped up — that is what bumped this down to three stars.

After being seated by the hostess, we waited ten minutes at our table. Nobody ever came to take our drink or food order, or even so much as acknowledge us, despite that it was only about 8 pm and the restaurant was dead(only about three other tables with people). Ridiculous. I’m not sure how much more inept they could possibly be. The funny part is that the hostess and another employee, both of whom were just hanging out at the front desk area doing nothing, cheerily said«bye» to us on our way out, not at all concerned about why we were leaving. I considered saying something, but decided there was no point since it should have been pretty obvious why we were leaving. I don’t chase after people to give them my business and money, and I definitely won’t be back.

I’d really love to be able to tell you what the food at Squealer’s is like, but unfortunately I was never served. We were seated promptly at around 5pm on a Sunday afternoon, and the restaurant was almost totally dead. However, my partner and myself sat in our booth for about 15 minutes without so much as a glass of water, watching the tables around us get service. After we’d had enough time to decide on another venue, we got up and left, notifying the staff on our way out. I’m not sure whether I’ll decide to return, but if this is how service is when the place is near empty, I can’t imagine how it is on a packed weekend evening!

Service: excellent. Food: average for a bbq joint. Ambiance: nice, well decorated, bar like but with a family area. Blues music, but it’s in the bar or kitchen, could barely hear it in the dining. Cleanliness: dining area ok, men’s room needs scrubbed. Notes for families with small babies: no changing table in the men’s room. Do some scrubbing and install a changing table, and it could go five stars easy.

I love this place! I’ve been to the other locations in town, and this one is the coolest with the ambiance/décor. Nice blues/jazz plays in the background, plenty of TVs in the bar. The food is outstanding! My personal favor is the breaded giant tenderloin! When I say giant, I mean it. It’s almost the size of your plate! My other favorite is the pulled pork. The sauces are really tasty, and you can mix or get your choice! I recently had the apple cobbler & it was amazing! Some of the entrees come with fried biscuits and apple butter which are also delicious! We sat in the bar, had excellent beer(locals on draft!) & cocktails, and the service was great. Please don’t be deterred by the other reviews! This is a great addition to the BBQ scene on the NE side.

To be clear I am reviewing the service only. We went on a Saturday night and the place was slightly busy. We asked about sitting outside at a dry table(because it rained) they acted like it was a ton of trouble. We asked for a booth inside and were told it would be 20 minutes. Then we were seated at a table next to an empty booth. We sat at a table and watched everyone walk by and try to avoid eye contact. 10 minutes no greeting. Then we see a server go to the hostess stand and obviously talk about us and the hostess mention we wanted to sit outside, then eye roll. As we were walking out the host staff pretended we weren’t there. We’ve been to the other location and it is sort of bad too. We were hoping for a better experience. Did not have one.

Squealers Barbeque is now a three-location mini-chain here in Central Indiana with the addition of their Castleton location that opened up in April in a vacant free-standing restaurant behind Castleton Square in the same retail center as Meditterano. This location, along with the West 86th Street and Mooresville locations, offers Squealers’ trademark Southern style barbeque recipes, classic side dishes, a selection of Indiana craft beers, and a variety of meals, sandwiches, appetizers, and some desserts. They offer carry-out and catering. While I haven’t been to the Mooresville location, this location has a very similar design and feeling to the West 86th Street spot. I give a slight nod to this location as it just has a newer feeling to it and it feels like they’ve really cleaned it up. They have about 3 – 4 accessible parking spots, but you might want to note that they’re toward the back of the restaurant rather than the usual front spots. They’ve definitely added nicer ramping than they have at the 86th Street locale. The menu, not surprisingly, is high on the meats — barbeque, chicken, pork, and burgers. I ordered an $ 8.00 Hand-Dipped Chicken Sandwich that you can add a variety of toppings to for $.60 per topping. It comes with steak fries or chips(I chose chips), but they do also offer some premium sides for an upcharge. Of course, I got my usual unsweetened iced tea. So, how was the experience? It was almost exactly a carbon copy of my experience at the West 86th Street location. The chicken was a big olé’ hunk o’ chicken and was juicy as all get out. The breading was pretty masterful, though I will say that the rather bland bun does detract from the overall experience. The bun didn’t bother me as much as it did with their giant tenderloin, which really overwhelmed the bun. In this case, it just seemed like the bun muted the flavor. As I noted in my West 86th Street review, the steak fries are slightly better than Ore-Ida steak fries and the serving seems a bit slight. The iced tea was good and I got a refill to go. My server was Bridgett. She was friendly and attentive, though not quite in the«Y’all come back now, ya here?» kind of way. I couldn’t help but feel like she kept trying to up-sell me during the meal, and it obviously wasn’t very effective because I noticed it. While I’d noticed it in the menu, I also think it would have been good for her to mention that the toppings she was asking about all involved an extra charge. I enjoyed Squealers, though I’m not sure I see it becoming a «go to» option. For a little over $ 11, I got a good meal and was able to enjoy a relatively quiet meal and some reading. The food was good and I wouldn’t hesitate to return with friends, though you might want to check out their online menu if you have special diet needs. While their website says they opened April 1st, they had sort of a «we’re new at this feeling» that I’m sure will work itself out a bit more over time. They seemed a bit befuddled by how to respond to a wheelchair — the host did initially move toward the door as I entered, but the person who took me to my table seemed to have no clue that moving a chair would be fairly basic customer service. 3-Stars feels about right. This was a fairly middle-of-the-road experience, though I’m inclined to push the rating upward thanks to my server and the better than average food. If you like barbeque and brisket, Squealers is definitely worth checking out. You may not be blown away by it, but it’s a needed niche’ in the Castleton area and judging by the growing crowd as I left they’re starting to find an audience.

Beef Brisket: awesome Fried biscuits with apple butter: amazing Tenderloin: dry, lack of flavor Chips: not homemade, regardless of what they tell you Baked beans: awful and full of pickles Prices: high Service: disappointing My husband and I were very excited to try this new location. We had no wait which was nice. Our waiter was very creepy and put his arm on me… awkward. I asked to sub onion rings for my side and he said it would be $ 6 to switch it out. Wow. He didn’t ask which BBQ sauce I wanted so when I realized it and asked, he said, «I put the sweet on it for you, sweetie,» with a wink. Again… awkward. My drink was never refilled, I never got a lemon for my water, he didn’t check on our food while we ate. When he picked up our plates, he asked how the food was overall, I said«so so.» He said, «that’s great.» Overall, the expensive price you pay for disappointing small sides and a little bit of good meat, paired with less than satisfactory service, isn’t worth it.
