Last night I attended the male review that was hosted. I was extremely pleased with professional and hardworking the bartenders, staff and security members were. It was a fun event and I think they should have it more often. I went there with a bachelorette party for a friend and we were treated like royalty. They even gave us a gift bag full of fun stuff for reserving a table. I love Saddle Up. I feel so comfortable there not just at this event, but every weekend I go.

I have been here 3 times now and it is a lot of fun. Great place for country swing dancing and later in the evenings, hip hop dancing. Big dance floor. Three bars. Free line dance lessons on the hour on the weekend evenings. Fun place to bring a group. Nice to have a taste of the west here in Indy.

So my friend let me in on this awesome gem of a place. I had never line danced before, but I really love it now! They do lessons certain nights of the week, and will teach a dance like every hour from hardest to easiest. All the staff is very friendly and overall its just a really fun place. Whether you like to dance or just want to hang out for a drink, it definitely is a fun time! I suggest looking online for their different specials during the week. But if you enjoy line dancing or just want something fun to do on a Wednesday night with some friends, go check this place out!

This place is so much fun!!! They have free dance lessons on Wed that are at i8:30, 9:30&10:30. There is dancing in between don’t worry. If you have no idea what you’re doing No WORRIES! They are super friendly and welcoming. The instructor Heather is awesome and breaks down the dances perfectly. There are many people who are regulars and they are super friendly as well. I messed up a lot and never felt judged and had a blast. I’ve been 2 other times and I will be back. The weekends I hear are fun as well just more crowded. Admission on Wed is $ 5 but for ladies you get $ 5 in drink chips so it’s like it’s free!

I’m giving this boot scootin’ boogy of a place five stars because I honestly had a fantastic time on my first visit. Do I line dance? Nope. Do I own a pair of cowgirl boots and/or a cowgirl hat? Negative. Does that matter at all in terms of enjoying Saddle Up? No sir! So believe me when I say this — everyone can enjoy this place. Being surrounded by those that DID know how to line dance motivated me to get my behind out there on the dance floor and give it a shot. And it was fun. Saddle Up was a bit hidden and right off of 82nd St. Plenty of parking! I was surprised at how big this place was inside. They have three bars, a large dance floor and a DJ area that’s open for song requests. I honestly can’t wait to revisit this place with a group of friends again. I’m not one to hit up the dance scene much anymore(does that happen to 27 year olds?) ha — but I did enjoy this setting very much. Everyone there just seemed to genuinely want to dance and have a good time. Didn’t see TOO much ornery business going on. A little, but not too much. haha So my suggestion, regardless of your line dancing ability, age, or distance from 82nd St., give this place a try! It’s a great time for a night out with the gang.

You definitely know what you’re getting when you come here: Country music, bull riding, hot guys, and lots of people-watching. I don’t frequent as often as I used to, but it’s always a good time. I wish I knew more line dances – oh wait they teach them fo’ free!

Great northside stop for you and your friends on a Saturday night. Plenty of dancing and people watching going on most of the night. Themed dress events and concert giveaways are always a plus. Only knock I see here are the atrocious bathrooms and drink prices. I admit, I was the guy buying fireballs for my whole table one night lol. Just be careful when doing this. You really can’t put a price on a good time though. Giddy up! PS…The country stuff ends around 11 so you can do your little shuffles and 80s moves around then. Have fun.

I was SOPLEASED with this establishment. The wait staff was super friendly, the place is huge and it fills up nicely after eight o’clock. Definitely not a place to go before 8. I got there at 6:45 and was there even before the bartender. However, they did give me $ 2 back on the $ 5 cover for being early. Plus, you get chips to redeem at the bar for a cheap drink. I even rode the bull! Each hour on the hour they teach you a dance, and everyone gets into it. I had a blast!

Worst place to go if you’re of non white skin color but a great place to go dancing Today(12⁄27) marks the day of the worst experience in this place. Let me first say that I grew up in Indianapolis and have not had any issues here regarding race. However this place refused to escort the issue so we left on our own due to the respect we have to the people we brought with us. Though your staff was nice to boot us they didn’t offer to return our cover. Bad business for you. Saddle up thanks for the great time but it’s time for your crowd and employees to realize what it means to welcome people from other backgrounds.

Ohh this place is Ridiculous! If youre a self confidant pretty lady who will cut it up on the dance floor, they will bounce you out for no reason at all… even when someone admits to breaking the glass that you supposedly broke, aNd thus being kicked out… just dont go… its totally over rated and full of fake ppl and douches! I dont even want to give it a star… true story

I was visiting Indy from Tennessee back in May for my birthday and to see a m8 that lives there and I’ve heard lots about this club so I tried out this place on Friday, May 9th and I swear, they do LINEDANCINGAFTERLINEDANCINGAFTERLINEDANCING which is what I like! I love this place and I would consider going back once I visit Indy again!

Country music, cheap drinks, a mechanical bull, and three separate line dancing lessons throughout the night… what’s not to love?! I’ve been here a couple of times since relocating to Indianapolis, and I have enjoyed it more than any other line dancing club that I’ve ever been to.(I’ll admit it… I’ve only been to one other line dancing club…) For the drinks — I love the Jolly Ranchers one. They taste like candy and they’re $ 3 on a Friday night. It’s also a little more exciting than a something that’s fizzy, if you’re feeling something new. The dancing lessons are also really great. They get less difficult throughout the night, but the instructors do a really good job of breaking it down. I’m pretty green to the whole line dancing thing, and I think I’ve done well adjusting in. I suggest going on a night with less people if you want to learn(ladies night is a good option!). Then you can get more adventurous on a weekend night when it comes to dancing in front of a lot of people!

I LOVE this place! We’ve been going for almost two years. I love the vibe — every kind of person and style can be found in the crowd, it’s not just real country folk. You can wear whatever you want any day of the week, people show up in everything from heels to muddy cowboy boots. On Wednesdays we go for ladies’ night and line dance lessons. The instructors are wonderful and fun. They teach a new dance every hour on the hour. And you can’t beat the $ 2.50 drinks! But the best part is, even if you don’t know every dance, everyone loves to help you out! You can just get out there and find someone who knows what they’re doing, and literally stare at their feet and catch on. Most of the time they’ll(kindly) start shouting the steps at you so you can catch on even faster. Everyone is so nice. NYE2012 was the best NYE party I had ever been to at a bar, too. Low key, plenty of country music and popular music. A huge crowd but we still had room to dance, and it was just all around a great time!

A friend recently obtained her American citizenship and she thought what better way to celebrate becoming an American than going to Saddle Up. A few of us were hesitant at first because the thought of constant country music mixed with mechanical bulls didn’t seem that appealing. We sucked it up and went despite our lingering fears. This is a classic example of not judging a book by its cover. This place was extremely fun and we had an amazing time. The dancehall played a great combination of country music and top 40 mixed with rap and everything in between. Have you ever line danced to a rap song? It’s pretty incredible. I had never line danced before, and I was completely surprised how easy it was to just jump in with the rest of the crowd on the dancefloor and line dance away. I never in a million years thought I would be out line dancing on a Friday night. The people were friendly, it was easy to join in on the dancefloor, and the drinks, well, expect what you expect at any bar in the city. If you’re looking for a place with tons of plaid, cowboy boots, and drunk, young adults, Saddle Up is certainly worth looking into. Give the place a try before you fully dismiss it as a hick, country bar!

This would not be my normal scene, but it was fun with a group of friends. If you get there early enough they will teach you how to line dance. We went on a Saturday night and it was packed. If you can’t line dance, no worries! People were doing a little bit of everything on the dance floor, plus they did play some non-country songs. The drink specials could be better!

My first experience at Saddle up was 4 ½ star night, my experiences since then have been 3. They teach a dance on the hour 8 – 10, that way a beginner like me aren’t intimated by the regulars. Speaking of the regulars… everything from orange boots to two Michael Jackson fanatics(red jacket, glove, and crotch grabs included). The music and diverse crowd make this place fun. Being more of a fan of clubs that play hip-hop and EDM, I still find this place entertaining and a great way to wine-down after a long work week. Only night I would avoid is when they have the monthly birthday party, every single table is reserved as early as 7:30.

I like this place probably way more than I should. Full disclosure: I like to dance and I feel like that’s what Saturday nights are made for. Almost always my friends don’t want to go to Broad Ripple or downtown because, you know, most normal girls don’t want to get over-the-clothes raped at Rock Lobster or Bartini. So Saddle Up is a fun place to pretend you know how to line dance and drink and be Merry in a positive, non-judgy atmosphere. If you’re a group of white girls who doesn’t love getting grinded up on, and you’re celebrating a birthday, this place and its mechanical bull are ideal. If you’re a group of white guys who feels awkward grinding and being strange at night clubs, come be awkward and hit on girls you might actually have a chance with. Everyone else(people who can dance and do like to grind) go to Saddle Up anyway and have fun laughing at the hilarity that is 200 white suburbanites dancing to country music and what I call«wedding reception jams.» Tips: go earlier and they do free lessons on the dance floor. By about midnight, line dancing is gone and it feels like your cousin’s wedding reception, but with booze you have to pay for.

This place is great! I can’t believe I waited so long to check out ladies night and learn some line dancing moves. Free for ladies and $ 5 for guys on Wednesday nights. And a couple of line dancing classes. The place is very spacious with great cowboy décor. It was a little dead when we were there but that just made more room on the dance floor. There was a place like this in Tucson, AZ that was also a restaurant so I was anxious to order an appetizer but unfortunately, no food.

Corral your gal pals and dust off your boots for a little country western jig tonight! You’ve gotta experience a line dance at some point in your life. What better time to start than on NYE2014? So get your fancy self down to the Saddle Up Saloon to get the hitch back into your giddy up! My first experience was for a friend’s birthday party, where we reserved a table for a group of us. There is a cover, $ 5/person — cash or card. We received some casino chips that were worth $ 1/piece for drinks. After those quickly ran out(LOL), we opened our own tabs. Drinks were a good consistency, not watered down like some bars. Waitresses can around the tables with shots, $ 3 each. Sometimes they’d do a line dance with their tray of shots in hand. Now that’s talent. The dance floor is huge! Plenty of space for beginners and experts to mingle and dance in harmony. Sometimes a dance instructor explains a line dance or two to the crowd, and other times you just have to watch other dancers to pick it up yourself. Watch for the crazy awesome characters who are there every night taking to the floor like country western divas — mostly cowboys. Some dances are a bit advanced, but it was fun to try different dances after a few beers. Heck, dance WITH a beer in hand! We made a round on the mechanical bull, making total asses of ourselves and having a grand time. Later in the night, the DJ played some pop line dancing songs like Electric Slide and the Cupid Shuffle. That way it’s not just all country music all the time. I really, really dig this bar simply because I love dancing and it’s not pretentious in any way. The staff was friendly and attentive with our party, and the patrons are totally fun and friendly. Whether you’re a city slicker or a country bumpkin, young or old, beginner or expert, you’ll have a blast!

OK… this bar is inappropriately awesome in the best way! I never thought I would find myself at a country bar. This is quintessentially country. Do not expect 8 Second Saloon… there is no hip hop club in the back. This is large space with a HUGE dance floor for LINEDANCING. If you don’t like country and you don’t like watching people do their thing in a line, then I would avoid it, but if you want to have a great time people watching and learning some new moves, you will be pleasantly surprised. I went a few weekends ago on a Saturday night with some girlfriends. There was a $ 5 cover. SO worth it. Yes, it’s nonsmoking(as is every single other bar in Indy now). The dance floor is centralized and surrounded by a few options to get drinks(beer girl and three bars that I could see). I will say that it was VERY difficult to get a table. I don’t even know if arriving early(like before 7) would have helped b/c they were all reserved. It would be nice to have a section(and maybe they do) that isn’t reserved for guests who would like to sit a song out. The tables surround the dance floor and there is bull riding late night. There is a nice coat check. There is an outdoor area for smokers and will be open in the summer for drinks. There is no food so definitely eat before arrival b/c you are about to burn some calories! And, please watch out… there are ACTUAL line dancers here who come all the time who know every song. You will get run over. On the Saturday we were there, however, there was also a teacher in the house who helped us newbies learn a couple of dances so we didn’t feel like total dipshits the whole evening. I would definitely go back. It seemed to draw an eclectic but friendly crowd. If you are looking for a date, it may be harder to find here. I watched many men turn many a hot girl down in lieu of rockin’ his moves in a clear 5×5 space, but gals, if you love watching cowboys get their groove on, I can tell you there was plenty of fun eye candy to enjoy! Fun date night, bachelorette/bachelor party, birthday, girls night out, anything! Something fun and different than what most other bars are offering right now and frankly considering how packed it was, I felt like I had really been missing out! I will be back at some point!
