Original décor, good Mexican dishes. This Resto is located in a very nice neighborhood full of lovely shops and nice little bars. You have to go for the décor and ambiance, the food is just but.

Friendly staff, good food. I find the strolling musician strange but that’s just me. I know many people enjoy the personal music.

We’ve come here a few times and it’s always a gamble. Sometimes we go and they have an awesome guitar player/singer playing great music and the food is decent. Then other times the food is bad and the staff is unpleasant. This time, our waiter was really impatient. We had sat down and were immediately asked if we were ready to order. We had not even looked at the menu yet. He came back about five minutes later and asked us if we were ready, we weren’t, then he came back one minute later and asked if we were ready. He kept asking us if we were ready, so much so, that he was actually making us take longer to figure out what we wanted because he kept interrupting. We were ready to order — he came back and said, «one more time»… So we ordered. The food came back literally three minutes later. I was an idiot and I took about five bites. I immediately had to visit the restroom which had no toilet paper but ample paper towels. I had never gotten sick because of the food there before tonight. Because of the bad experience that I’ve had this time, I will never ever return.

Overall, the food was really good and the drinks were huge. The only downside is the atmosphere was boring and the service was horrendous, inattentive, and unappreciative. If the service improved, I would potentially come back.

giving this place 2 stars cause the food is awesome and super quick. service is horrible. I’ve eaten here several times since they opened and each time it gets worse and worse. I will not go back. just goes to show that poor service can ruin a restaurant

On the rare occasion now that I actually get to go out and enjoy a margarita, there’s always the same dilema… do I go somewhere with tequila bombs and crappy food or do I end up somewhere with good food and average margaritas? Rivera Maya leans more on the good food/average margarita side. It’s inside of the old Don Pablo’s with an upgraded interior. I enjoyed the fountain and natural sunlight coming into the dining room. I wouldn’t hesitate to take my children or burn a date night here again. I love fish tacos. I ordered fish tacos. I loved the fish tacos I ordered. I opted for the corn tortillas over the flour and my portion of grilled tilapia was plentiful and cooked perfectly served with fresh pico. My big frozen margarita was ample but not a great value for the price. I would go back again

Me and a friend was at Riviera Maya on Saturday 6÷21÷14. I ordered a Margarita and it was just ok. The Drink was $ 9.99 and when I checked out my bill was $ 9.99 plus tax and I tipped $ 1. When I checked my account I was charged $ 22.78 for 1 drink. Called the restaurant and was told they didn’t know what happened and to drive all the way back there to get my refund. Please check your statement if paying with a credit card…

Even that star is being generous! First time coming to this restaurant and what a disappointment. First off, the chips were not fresh and the salsa was below average. And that was actually the best part. After looking through their extremely large menu, I decided to order the quesadilla lunch special. I can honestly sit here and state, they DONOT use real cheese. It was so glossy, rubbery, and bland. The chicken that filled it was not well prepared. The rice that accompanies it had absolutely no taste, along with the beans. The whole meal was a total waste! To make matters worse, the margarita was one of the worst I have ever experienced. Never again will I come back! This is the first review I have ever posted on any restaurant and that’s because of how disappointed I was.

OHMYGODTHEIRQUESADILLASGIVEMELIFE! I think it’s the type of cheese they use! They have really good agua de Horchata! Their menu has options for everyone! Atmosphere is great! Waiters are friendly and it’s closer to authentic than other places in Indy!

This place understands me and my chips and salsa needs. When you sit down, you get a really big basket of chips and salsa to start off your meal. I powered through it and more chips and salsa appeared. It was like a dream come true. The prices are good for what you order. I got a combination of an enchilada and a tamale with rice and beans for $ 8.75. The menu is huge so everyone is easily able to find something they like. The issue for me was narrowing it down to one thing I wanted. Mexican food quite possibly is the love of my life. It’s hard to choose just one delicious entrée to consume! The service was a little slow at times, but it didn’t bother me as we were celebrating a friend’s birthday and taking our time to enjoy our meal and the time together. The waitress did take note that it was our friend’s birthday and brought him a scoop of fried ice cream, complete with a sombrero to wear while eating it. The atmosphere is so fun! It kind of feels like you’re outside in Mexico. It’s very bright and colorful. I loved it. This is the first time I really realized how much an atmosphere can impact a meal. One last tip: Their margaritas pack a serious punch! Bring a designated driver! I will be back. Chips and salsa, I’m coming for you!

We are here again last week — welcomed by very good chips and salsa. I ordered the fish tacos, which were delightful, especially with a few shakes of the XXXhot habanero sauce. My wife enjoyed a vegetarian combo plate. I’ve been here a few times and the food is always expertly prepared and the service is attentive, however a little slow when busy but never a long wait for service. Occasionally I do see the need for them to sweep and dust the crumbs off the seats but other than that, it’s hard to find a flaw with this place. Check it out and look for valuable mobile coupons.

One of my favorites on the west side for lunch. Always lively. Great, speedy service. Food is solid. I enjoy the arroz con pollo. They do it better than most. Building is an old Don Pablos. Cool décor, not small & stuffy :) plenty of room for large groups as well.

One of my favorite places to get lunch. The food is great and so is the service. I enjoy coming to Riviera Maya for lunch with colleagues and I’ve also held a meeting in the restaurant. Overall great place

This location use to be Don Pablo’s and still has the same footprint with additions of stone on some walls, recycled objects as decorations such as the wagon wheels, and chairs and benches with their name on each. Nice changes and use of the recycled pieces. I had to laugh though at the center fountain still here from the Don Pablo days. It’s still functional and continues to splash onto the floor. Guess turning it down or correcting wasn’t an option. Nevertheless, it’s still a nice feature and they have moved the tables away from the fountain. We had lunch today but since it was Labor Day only the dinner menu was available. The menu is extensive with prices ranging from low $ 8 to $ 15. The chips were warm and crispy with the salsa having the appearance of canned stewed tomatoes without much spice or seasoning. I didn’t find it that enjoyable but my husband found it fresh with a different flavor, slightly sweet, and tolerable for a change. Lunch partner had Chili Colorado with beans, rice and hot tortillas which was good, reasonably priced and he’d order again. My fish tacos were disappointing as the fish has no seasoning of any kind and extremely bland. Even with the addition of the lettuce, tomato and avocado the tacos were lacking flavor but a splash of hot sauce helped some. I did request corn tortilla rather than flour and I would again if I ever reordered. We’ll give it another chance but ask for additional spices.

Have been to this place several times and will come back. Pretty good all around, clean, friendly staff, good food and fair prices. The only thing holding it back from another star is a little more freshness in the food. I got the chicken taco salad and the tortilla shell I could tell was pre prepared and was stale because of it. Same thing for the chips, and the salsa was way bland(Cholula to the rescue!)

Recently had lunch here with a colleague. It’s nice that they have specials, and I do enjoy the open décor. I had the arroz con carne and my friend had a taco salad with ground beef. I wasn’t necessarily impressed with the chips and salsa. The chips were crumbled pieces and I thought the salsa was too sweet. When we went up to pay, I noticed that the price of my lunch was wrong, since I was not charged the special price. However, management took it step farther and noticed my friend’s entrée was also charged the dinner price. He made the change, which saved my friend a few dollars. So yeah I’m gonna say it… Management was awesome!

Riviera Maya offers an extensive menu of classic Mexican cuisine in a comfortable environment. The chairs are very unique, large and sturdy with their name carved into the wood. The prices are low to average. Food was tasty to average. I was a little disappointed that fresh hand made tortillas were not available. Not since I was dining at the Border Grill in Las Vegas did I have that and once you do, you crave it. Is there not a place in Indianapolis that offers hand made flour tortillas? If you do let me know, I will come running as well as many other Unilocalers I know. Just a thought. I would go back there are other dishes I would like to try.

My wife is from Mexico, meaning we go to A LOT of Mexican restaurants. This is definitely on the list of the WORST. Yes, it’s nice décor but that’s because it’s in an old Don Pablo’s. The service was TERRIBLE. The waiter blew it many times – ordered something vegetarian, he brought it with meat; asked for a cup of water 3 times; he said something came with rice, it didn’t or he didn’t bring it out. He definitely could not handle the job. The food was also among the worst I’ve had. The hour chats was REALLY watered down. Enchiladas were really bad. I would never ever go here again it doesn’t matter how nice the décor is.

Comfortable décor, prompt service, good food. Had the Burrito Gigante with shredded beef and it’s the best tasting Tex-Mex burrito I’ve had in Indy(keep in mind, I’ve mostly experienced the NW side of Indy Tex-Mex restaurants). It was $ 7.50 on a Tuesday — huge burrito with loads of shredded beef, sour cream, guacamole, rice, lettuce, and cheese sauce… YUM! Chips were fresh, salsa was very mild. 34 ounce beer was only $ 5. Prefer this place over Los Rancheros and Puerto Vallarta on the West/NW side.

Great Mexican restaurant! Daily specials(food & drink), superb service, authentic décor, and they serve the best spicy queso dip! They even ran to the store to pick-up a mixer for my drink that they ran out of. Too nice!!!
