The food was good but not great. Service however was fabulous. Went right at lunch time and the restaurant was quite busy for lunch but we were immediately helped and our food came out quick. I would go back and try their dinner menu just because of the service and how convenient it is to everything in fountain square.

First time at Pure and my heart was immediately broken when the waitress said, «We’re out of crab cakes.» I guess that means they are popular. I won’t hold it against them. Next time! I ordered the Dijon Terragon Chicken Salad Sandwich(say it out loud, it’s fun) on ciabatta with chips. My sandwich seemed a tad too dry, so I was glad that I paired this with a tasty and affordable Malbec. Overall I would say I really enjoyed my meal, but I my have been suuuper hungry because I left thinking I could probably eat something else. Perhaps my mind was still clinging to that crab cake situation, but I think that an alternative side, rather than chips, would have been a good idea. Service was speedy and friendly. I definitely think I’ll be back to try something else.

So much potential… I’ve been here twice and you could easily call the experiences deja vu. Pure Eatery has a great location in fountain square, right in the middle of all the action, though the inside décor makes me not sure if it is a night club or a hipster sandwich joint. The menu has a decent spread of options, but most are on the lighter/healthier side. The main dinner entrees aren’t served until 5pm, so I havn’t been able to try their four cheese macaroni yet, though it taunts me every time. I most recently had the Purrito, it was a good portion, fresh ingredients and huge chunks of chicken breast. I was nervous to try it with the description of the spicy southwest sauce, but beyond the taste of tomatoes and spinach it was almost bland. My favorite thing about Pure– The Gigantic Water Glasses! Which are a must because the service is subpar. When our order is placed in the kitchen window and the bell rings, it takes the waitresses a few minutes to notice. Then after we have fully completed our meal, we have to wait up to 10 minutes just for our check to leave, with no water refills of course. The restaurant also has a hazy look to it, like the kitchen doesn’t ventilate properly, though the restaurant is clean, it feels very dark and smoggy. The food is good and the menu prices range on average from $ 7 – 15: And that’s the only reason to come back.

Ohhhh man. Everything is so great at Pure. Once they had a blue cheese watermelon salad that sounded gross, but was amazing. The bar staff is always great, which is where we normally end up. Always worth a pop in for a drink and some munchies. The amazing server Kim is always so great. Tip her extra and then some.

I never seem to get to Pure during normal lunch or dinner hours, but that’s never been a problem. They have fantastic food late(and on Mondays!), and even if I’m not eating I’ll stop sometimes for the Lick ice cream. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve ordered at Pure, but I’m especially fond of the Chicken Fiesta salad(nice mix of greens with a slightly spicy dressing). Definitely one of my go to spots in Fountain Square.

Pure Eatery definitely exceeded my expectations — in some ways! I dined here on a Friday night when a lot of other options in Indianapolis were closed. We were seated immediately after arriving, and the waitress gave us ample time to sort through all of the menu options — a lot of which looked delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant is very laid back, and there is a juke box at the front of the room. Tonight’s playlist gave off some serious E John/William Joel vibes, which definitely made this a more positive experience. I ended up ordering the mac and cheese with chicken and a side salad with bourbon peanut dressing. I think I was just expecting something like a the mac and cheese from Noodles and Company: some elbow macaroni with loads of cheese on top and a seasoned chicken breast on top. NO — this mac and cheese is something else. There were different types of cheese between rotini, and the chicken. Wow. The chicken was shredded and seasoned with what tasted like oregano, rosemary, and thyme? I can’t emphasize how flavorful they made the chicken. The salad was pretty standard — greens, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes. The bourbon peanut salad dressing was also delicious and flavorful but a little spicier than I expected. We finished off our meal with a slice of cheesecake with caramel on top — shockingly very store-bought tasting. I would not be surprised if the caramel came out of the can, and cheesecake out of Kroger’s surplus stock. TLDR; the chicken in the mac and cheese is absolutely phenomenal. What knocked down Pure from 5 to 4 stars was the cheesecake and caramel that tasted like factory manufacturing.

If they have Lick Ice Cream’s Peanut Butter & Jelly — ORDERIT! I had a single bite and, let me tell ya, it took some major self-control to not have more. I ordered the Purrrrrito and it was really good. Easily two meals for me. My friends ordered off of the Devour Downtown menu and enjoyed the Gouda-stuffed peppers and meatloaf panini. Tip for parking: if it’s busy/full on Virginia, keep in mind that there’s a surface lot behind the restaurant that you can use for free. Also, street parking along St. Patrick(street and church) is free.

Upon walking in, I approached the hostess and let her know we needed a table for two. She pointed to a booth and said it was open. We walked over there(by ourselves) only to find it had drinks already on the table because it was not cleaned yet. We went back and informed her and she did not apologize for the mix-up and pointed us to a booth close to the door. HORRIBLE move. We should have requested to sit somewhere else, it was freezing the entire time and I did not take my coat off. Our waiter came and took our drink order and put our appetizer in(Spinach & Asparagus Dip). The dip was tasty but it was all CHEESE and barely any vegetables. My friend has been to the Pure Eatery on the Northside and ordered this dip many times and she claims usually it is green with more vegetables compared to the straight cheese dip we got. I ordered the Spinach and Bacon salad with Shrimp added. My salad was pretty good, but had too many onions. My eyes were watering and I’m not sure if it was from the salad or the atmosphere. Overall the service wasn’t that great and the restaurant seemed a little dirty. However, the waiter made up for the hostess’s total lack of customer service. I probably wouldn’t go back. In my opinion, the food seems a little overpriced for the quality. I was disappointed as I was looking forward to this place.

This was the first restaurant I tried at fountain square. I was intrigued by how many good reviews they had. I ordered a portobello spinach melt sandwich with a side of their soup special(black bean and ham soup). It was good, the portobello was a bit too done so it was very black. The food was good nothing too exciting where I’ll be telling all my friends to come too. They layout was nice, the server was friendly, overall this is very hipster looking for sure! I might try it out again soon, there’s a lot of variety so maybe I’ll find something that really stands out

Pure is one of my go-to brunch spots. They have a variety of vegan/veggie options which makes it great for me because I’m a vegetarian. The nice thing is that they have lots of non-veg items for my carnivorous friends. I really enjoy the vegan tacos. It’s an appetizer that comes with two soft tacos. I’ve had it as a meal and I’ve also split it with a friend. It’s pretty filling. I’ve gotten bloody mary’s here a few times and they’ve varied on how they taste. I understand bartenders make things differently, but my friend got one and she didn’t like it at all. The atmosphere is hipster meets Wall Street. There’s a lot going on with its minimal approach. I enjoy coming here because it caters to almost any type of diet and it’s got a unique vibe.

Pure Eatery is my favorite place to eat in Fountain Square. Their sandwiches, wraps, and salads are amazing! If you come for dinner be sure to try their Mac n Cheese bowl — definitely split it. I like to add bacon and mushrooms… yum!

Judging from the quality of the food, Pure Eatery gets a 4. But I can’t rate the rest of it as highly because, over the course of multiple visits, it’s hard not to think the overall experience should be better. Truth be told, the vegan tacos make for a very tasty appetizer… but against all odds. The presentation is unremarkable or even disappointing, and nothing really clues you in to how the two modestly sized tacos should be shared. Each one gets two tortillas, so I ended up scraping some of the contents onto the other tortilla, which caused them to fall apart. Portion sizes aren’t small exactly, but the plates overwhelm them, making everything seem dinkier than it really is. You’d be hard-pressed to expect any wow factor when the servers bring the food to the tables, even if the results are consistently tasty. And service, while friendly, is slow – this is the rare occasion where I can’t tell if it’s the fault of the front or back of the house, but at least the friendliness compensates. Pure Eatery just sort of lacks a gestalt: it’s partly a bar, it’s got more than a bit of a coffeehouse vibe, it claims a veggie-friendly menu that steers people to brunch items(where the place really shines), and the blah interior tries to accommodate all of these, appealing to hipsters but without their aesthetic sensibility – or any real aesthetic sense. If Pure rethought its business model, it could become a Fountain Square staple.(Since it’s older than most establishments in the hood, it kind of already is one.) As it currently stands, I’d imagine it would make for stellar take-out if I lived nearby.

Pure Eatery is the embodiment of a Fountain Square eatery and is such a gem. I’m a fan, I’m a fan. They have one of my favorite appetizers in Indianapolis — the hummus platter. The sun dried tomato, garlic & herb and sriracha & goat cheese hummuses(hummi? is that a word?) are all equally good. Once the pita and veggies run out I find myself eating the remains with a fork, or convincing myself that I don’t need to eat it all now and can take some home for my next meal. After that appetizer, I’m usually too full to order a meal. but I really like how Pure has the option of ordering a half sandwich. Great for those«I’m not that hungry» days. The caprese panini is delicious, as is the chicken salad. For the sides, you can’t go wrong with the chips or the potato salad. They also have good drink specials and a decent selection of beers on tap and bottled. I have friends who love their cocktails but I haven’t ventured to those yet. A couple random comments: street parking is your only option, so sometimes that is limited or you’re stuck with walking a decent distance. Depends on when you go. Also, for some weird reason, I didn’t feel like the eating area was all that clean. The booth we sat in and the floors just seemed… dirty. I can’t really explain it and maybe that’s just me being weird. I will most definitely be back, if nothing else to attempt to eat the hummus platter by myself.

This place overall is quite tasty and rather reasonable; although the cocktail I had was nothing special. 8pm on a warm Saturday night in September and the place was quite busy. We sat at some high tables, which provide ample opportunity to scope out the whole place and see what folks are eating. I love the spring-like colors that decorate the space, fresh flowers on every table, and local art adorning the walls. I ordered the Rabbit’s Foot cocktail: Cruzan Strawberry Rum, Cruzan Orange Rum, pineapple juice, cranberry juice($ 5.95). It came in a small glass, but at that price I can see why. The drink was very fruity but honestly I could not taste the alcohol. If a drink is made strong and well, someone can’t taste the alcohol, but this was more so because I doubt there was much in it. If you want a good cocktail, go to New Day Meadery a few steps away — delicious and strong as hell. However, I approve of the food. Me: Portabello & spinach melt(potabella, spinach, provolone, homemade garlic Parmesan ailoi, Italian flatbread, $ 8.95 for whole) + side of Large Hummus(Siracha & gota cheese hummus /garlic & herb; $ 4.95). The Siracha & goat cheese hummus is AMAZING! Not spicy like you would think. The garlic and herb was also quite good! I ate this first, but it was hard to go from that explosion of flavor to the sandwich :/The sandwich tasted VERYGOOD, trust. But not flavorful. The most flavor came from the mushrooms. The bread was great, very panini-ish. Was it worth $ 8.95? Nah. And the hummus was delicious but only 2 scoops, so also not quite worth it. But it was still good and I would probably have it again. Although, I ate all this and a bit over an hour later and I am hungry again :/For $ 14 I could get a more filling meal elsewhere. Yet, it was tasty and it’s nice to hang out in Fountain Square. Honestly, the hummus WASREALLYGOOD. So. There’s that. Them: The Purrito(mission-style burrot, white rice, white chedar, spinach, corn salsa, pico de gallo, black beans, pulled chicken, homemade spicy sSW dressing, flour tortilla; $ 10.95). My friend said it was great. Note: If there is a show happening next door at Hi-Fi, their bass will come through the wall. Pure has nice chill classic rock playing and then off-beat bass that kinda makes for a strange sound experience.

Order the caprese panini but add chicken and pesto. Literally most delicious sandwich you’ll ever have. However, I do agree with most of the comments regarding service. Most of the time I’ve been there, it’s just one server. Because of this, I’ve sat there ignored for a decent amount of time until I finally had to flag down the server to notice me. The bartenders are awesome and the food is great so I continue to go but the place definitely needs to work on service.

Came here one tipsy day and enjoyed the hummus plate and some brews. Mmmmmmm… bottom line: they don’t skimp on their hummus – you’ll get what you pay for, and the hummus varieties are so yum. I love eating fresh and local, so this really hits the spot. Will have to review again when visiting not-so-tipsy.

Wikipedia definition of OK: As an adjective, «OK» means«adequate», «acceptable»(«this is OK to send out»), «mediocre» often in contrast to «good»(«the food was OK»). I’m on the fence with this one. The food, the drinks, the service, the feel — everything was ok. It was not bad, but it didn’t necessarily wow me. Had the Warm Goat Cheese bread bowl. I was puzzled by that one. There was no bowl. It was goat cheese and toast bread, but I liked it. The salad was the Cranberry and Goat Cheese Salad — Mixed Field Greens, Dried Cranberries, Goat Cheese, Walnuts, Red Onions, Cucumber, and Grape Tomato, and it was good. I liked the idea of the Meatloaf Panini Melt, but it was a little on the dry side. The Warm Merlot Brownie ala mode was just the way I like it, chewy and fudgy. The drinks from the bar were tasty but didn’t pack much of a punch. They were like punch. Everything was ok, but«beware the lollipop of mediocrity; lick it once and you’ll suck forever». –Brian Wilson

I very much enjoy Pure! What gives it the 5th star? The fact that it’s open until 2am! They have such a great selection of sandwiches, apps, and salads. My gal pal and I shard the stuffed pepper appetizer and it was so nice that they weren’t deep fried! We also shared the mix that is a delicious mix of chex type things and popcorn and has a very flavorful seasoning. I had a craberry goat cheese salad with balsamic dressing and the goat cheese tasted so fresh and the pop of cranberry made it a perfect brunch salad! My friend had some sort of roast beef sandwhich, but she had trouble choosing because they all sounded so good. She ate it all before coming up for air, so it must have been great! Also, $ 2.75 Sun King beer on Sunday. Happy brunching!

Wow. My experience from last night left me so disappointed in Pure’s service we had to leave because, well, no one ever came to our table and we were literally the only people in the restaurant other than two folks at the bar. Let me set the scene: There were not one, not two, but 5! Pure employees(in uniform) hanging out in the restaurant(they even stopped to watch us walk in and didn’t say a word) when we entered. There was such a weird feeling in the air– no joke, it felt like the whole gang was stoned and we were late to the party. They continued to ignore us — standing only 10 feet away– until we were left with no other option but to take our business elsewhere. I hate leaving reviews like this but the experience was so dumbfounding and upsetting.

So, I thought I reviewed PURE months ago(I’m talking Summer-Time). Apparently I didn’t, so let’s change that because they deserve some words: It was summertime, 2014 when I met up with some friends at Pure(my first time). They were celebrating a wedding anniversary and about 14 of us piled up in the back and ordered rounds of drinks and food. I actually came to perform a poem; not eat. But I was encouraged to order SOMETHING. Since I had already eaten, I figured I would ‘try’ something. I choose the macaroni. Where to begin with this??? The rotini style macaroni is available for you spice up with several different add-in options including red peppers, chicken, mushrooms, bacon, spinach — just to name a few ;) At $ 9.20, it is well worth it’s price. Not knowing what to expect and experiencing that overwhelming desire to ‘try something different’, I opted for adding chicken, spinach, roasted red peppers and mushrooms. They are .90 a piece, which can be pricey if you do a lot, like I apparently did, but your stomach only lives once right!!! This macaroni makes me need to use these keys: *(#$&(#&(*$# &*()&*(!*&$()*&(%&*( It came out in a huge, angled bowl, full and piping hot. The rotini was cooked perfectly with a hint of al dente and whatever in the world that cheese blend is deserves it’s own review! The chicken was shredded and they do not skimp on how much they give you. The same with all the extras I had tossed in there. There was so much macaroni and cheese and spinach and chicken and peppers that this dish was an entire meal plus leftovers for a couple of days(at least for me). I wasn’t that hungry, so I tried a few bites and enjoyed them greatly, but had to get on the move so I had it boxed up to go. They provide a recyclable to go container that they outlined in aluminum foil for what I like to call Master Food Preservation! The funny thing is on the way to my next location, I found myself eating out of the container at each red light opportunity. I stuffed my already full stomach with mounds of macaroni for 30 seconds at a time at each street that caught me in a standstill. THIS mac and cheese is worth many more visits and I kick myself today, right now, for not having made it back as of yet, although I have thought of them on many occasions. I will definitely change that soon. The rest of the food that came to the table looked abundant, delicious and enough for leftovers depending on how hungry one might be. I have no complaints about Pure Eatery… only about myself for such a late review. I can’t wait to go back and bring my friends with me for a round of mac & cheese extraordinaire !!! NOTE: S/O to Unilocal’s AUTOSAVEFEATURE !!! I accidentally clicked off the screen and thought I lost my review !! Yayyy, it’s still here !!! #Win I should celebrate with a huge, diagonal bowl full of macaroni, cheese and add-ins !!!
