Great place. I went a few places trying to find that traditional friendly place and I found. I drive OTR and like to shut down and find me a nice place to relax. They are owned by a firefighter. The patrons are just friendly as they can be. The food is great, so is service and not bad priced. I will definitely be stopping back in. I’m from West Virginia and I got to say these people make you feel at home!

Probably won’t find a family from Ohio stopping here on the way home from the Zoo! Very, Very, Local. 99% of the customers probably stopped for a beer, found good food, and keep coming back. One of the best, non-advertised low-key Tenderloins in the city limits.(or is Shadeland Dr. the city limit)?

I don’t know where to start but here we go. A group of friends and I go to different venues’ to watch football often. This time it was recommended MIH. It was the playoffs so they had the game on(good). Service from the beginning started off slow and challenging to say the least. Finally after the bartender came over(his area) I ordered a beverage along with a tenderloin w tots. Minutes later he brought my beer and asked«that was fries, right?» I replied«tots. The other servers seemed seasoned and quite reliable as they hustled around us. Finally my sammie arrived curled up(bad sign it’s overcooked) and barely resting on the bun and with FRIES. And yes the tenderloin was badly overcooked but I was starving. I tried to get his attention but he was too busy. After eating(remember I’m starving) he shrugged shoulder walking away when I mentioned to him. The jukebox then came on as we noticed someone feeding it with $$$ during the start of the 2nd quarter and was brought to the attention of the staff by another in my party. The said nothing could be done and at that time the bartender came over and said his shift was over and needed to collect. We paid and left for another place to watch the game. After pulling out my recipt after arriving home I noticed he even overcharged me for something else on the menu and more beers than ordered. I noticed there were a good number of regulars there and guess thats what you have to be in order for good service. We will not be back and do not recommend to non regulars. :-(

My No-Frill’s Review of the No-Frill’s Irish Mutt, an Eastside neighborhood pub: –Cheap Eats –Cheap Drafts I did not order the tenderloin, but I did have some Irish nachos. I think I would have liked it more had I been on my 5th Bud Light instead of my second Two Hearted. Long story short: Is the Irish Mutt a big city bar over-saturated in local craft beer? Absolutely not. Is it a local drunken destination with a small town feel? Definitely.

I arrived with a group of eight to have a good time. All was well until I dared to play a different genre of music than the constant country music that was being played. I made this selection about 1:30 a.m. That was enough to get the music shut off by employees of this establishment after they rudely insulted me and my choice of music. I will not be back after the rudeness and intolerance that was displayed by staff. After this, they started closing down when they are supposed to be open til 3 a.m. They were putting up chairs and getting rid of customers. To top it all off, just before I left I went ou the front door and I heard a waitress on the patio exclaim that someone had taken a crap on the patio. It wasn’t me but I kind of wish it was now after my shitty treatment at this establishment.

My cousin was in town to visit before my Pops was headed into the VA(review already done — great peeps), hadn’t seen him in ages so we went out for a bite and a couple pints. I can tell that this place has a good set of regulars and the size of the joint belies it is used often but not on a weekday at lunch(which is when we went). The Smithwick’s was nice and cold and went down REALLY well, attentive bar staff and lots of TV’s in the joint. Fresh on the menu was touted an Irish Stew, they«just» finished it. Well hell we said, we’ll have that. Sadly what knocked a star off was the stew. The meat was tough as shoe leather and the broth/gravy didn’t have a real good depth of flavor and I could taste the alcohol in it. Telling me it either had too much put in, or it wasn’t put in soon enough. I get the feeling that instead of searing off the meat, then cooking the veg, adding in the liquid then braising the meat slowly at low heat for several hours, they just put everything in a pot and boiled the shit out of it. Too bad, because they kind of had the right idea with what was in it. All in all a good spot for a pint and if you like Notre Dame, even better ;)

This is an excellent bar! They have great food and wonderful service. I always get the Hoosier Tenderloin. I will recommend this place to everyone. It better to go during the lunch hours. It gets really busy at night.

I went here because of high Unilocal ratings, and because I try to patronize local businesses when traveling. Unfortunately, the service was so bad I have to give it just 1 star. The waitress messed up both my drink and food orders in multiple ways, and the 2 men uttering profanities over the video golf game didn’t help with the environment. The Thai chicken tacos were pretty good, but I asked for no sour cream and got it anyway. It’s really more of a barlike atmosphere, loud and charmless. Wouldn’t consider returning.

Nice neighborhood Irish themed bar. The food is good bar food, and they offer all of the usual suspects in the beer and spirits department. They have live music on occasion. There’s a «paddi-o» for outdoor seating. If you can get our little cutie Danielle serving you, the service will be good. Tip: St. Patrick’s Day is a huge party here, and it’s cash only on that day!

Tenderloin, Western Burger and Fish and Chips are all favorites here. Don’t sleep on something on the menu that seems out of place in this Irish drinking establishment; the baja fish tacos are a must. Chase, the kitchen manager, has a new smoker on the patio that he loves to play with. Hopefully you’re around at 1 am on a weekend– if you’re lucky enough, he’ll let you sample some delicious brisket. A great bottle selection for craft beer, but you’ll find your old standbys on tap: Smithwicks, Guinness, Blue Moon, Sam Adams BL, Triton Railsplitter, and Killians Irish Red all are guaranteed ready to pour. I come here for the camaraderie, but I stay for the food, drinks, and live music on weekends. A must if you find yourself feeling some Eastside pride!

There’s a pretty good chance that you’ve spied Manley’s Irish Mutt if you ever find yourself on Indy’s Eastside near 10th& Shadeland Avenue. It’s located in a free-standing building directly off of East 10th Street not too far from the Kroger. If you’re like me, you’ve looked at the sign a million times and thought to yourself«I wonder» as you drive on by. A couple weeks ago, I actually found myself driving by and made it into the parking lot before deciding that it was probably too crowded and I wasn’t in the mood for a crowd. So, I ended up over at the Tie-Dye Grill where it was too crowded and I wasn’t in the mood for it. Tonight, I was in the mood for a decent meal and some time to linger before heading home after a long work day. I wanted to try something new, but I really didn’t want to have to get cleaned up. Hey, I’m a paraplegic. It’s a hassle. So, I drove by Manley’s and made it back into the parking lot and thought«Oh, what the heck. Let’s try it.» They have four accessible spots up front, though they aren’t really ADA spots and they don’t have the metallic signs(which means it can’t actually be enforced). They have a small ramp going up to their entry sidewalk — again, it’s an older building and I wouldn’t call it ADA compliant, but it definitely worked. There’s two doors at the front — take the decorated one. It’s not clearly marked, but it makes sense. If you want fancy, Manley’s ain’t it. If you want new or shiny or contemporary, Manley’s ain’t it. Manley’s is your standard issue neighborhood dive bar, but it’s clean and comfortable and roomy. I liked it immediately and quickly found myself thinking«Why haven’t I been here?» As you enter, you have a huge dining room on the right and a nice sized bar on the left. You’ve got wide-screen televisions around the place and various bar-type games, mostly electronic, located throughout the place. They host music on weekends and you can easily see where they have the room to do so. I was honestly kind of stunned with how big the place is — much bigger than it looks on the outside. They have a jukebox, though it’s a fairly newfangled one. The dining area is comprised of fairly casual tables with chairs that can be easily moved. The walls also have a variety of Irish-themed photos/prints and the bar definitely maintains a casual Irish theme about it. I picked a four-top and got comfy in the corner that was still bright enough I could read. My server, whose name I’ve completely forgotten, was over in a couple of minutes and brought a menu. I think it always throws people off when I order my usual unsweetened tea in a bar, but I only drink occasionally and wasn’t in the mood tonight. The menu consisted mostly of bar-type foods, though appetizers are available. It looked like most of the meals are in the $ 10 – 15 range and sandwiches all included a side of either fries or tater tots. It was refreshing to not have tater tots cost an upcharge. Strangely, potato chips are an upcharge along with onion rings but it’s only $ 1. I’d heard about their burgers and their tenderloin. I opted for a tenderloin sandwich and tater tots. My entire bill including iced tea was just over $ 10 without a tip. It was definitely a good value. The sandwich? Freaking awesome. It’s a thick n’ juicy cut of meat with nice breading that is consistent. The bun was toasted, an awesome plus, and I used some mayo that soaked in perfectly. I’ve been trying to decide if this is my favorite tenderloin. It’s definitely in my Top 5. I would order it again in a heartbeat and despite its size it didn’t sit heavy on my stomach. The tater tots were also very good. From what I hear, they are popular. My sense was they might be frozen, but maybe not. Even if they are, they’re very good. I would easily order them again. The unsweetened iced tea was terrific. I got a refill without asking and, in what has become increasingly rare, I even got another refill after I’d paid my bill and was still reading. I fell in love with Manley’s. I really did. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. The customer population was fairly diverse, especially in terms of age. My server was stellar. She was friendly, helpful, welcoming and warm. Sometimes, bar service can feel like«I’m flirting with you to get a bigger tip.» This felt genuine and comfortable. While I can’t say I spoke with everyone, it definitely had a «locals only» feeling about it and yet it was also welcoming. There was one friendly guy who’d used a lot of cash on the jukebox and asked me if I had a song I wanted. It was incredibly friendly. The final touch for me came from actually watching an encounter from another server. A few minutes before I left, a customer came in pushing a friend in a wheelchair. The guy in the chair moved a chair(as did I) and they sat down. This young woman had the insight to look him directly in the eyes, then stoop so she could have eye-contact. Stellar!

Tenderloin! That’s it. That’s all I need to say! Okay maybe I should say more… I love the breaded tenderloin. When I walk into the Mutt I don’t even look at the menu. Its all about that sandwich. It is one of the thicker one no pounded out, thin as a paper plate. No way! For side you can get fries or tots. I go for the tots. They are well seasoned and just better than fries. Everything else– Service is always great. There is normally 1 waitress working the dinning room and she is on it. At noon the place is pretty business and you don’t have to wait on anything. If you are at 10th and Shadeland give them a chance, you will not be disappointed!

I had never been to Manley’s Irish Mutt before, but my friend from Ireland was playing music there about a week before Saint Patrick’s Day, so we decided to go in and check out his set. Manley’s reminds me of a locals only watering hole in the best way! The energy was great on the night we were there! Everyone was having a good time. Although we didn’t get anything to eat that night(my husband had a diet soda and I had a pint of Guinness) there were people all around us that had a lot of good looking and smelling food! We don’t get to the east side of Indy that often, but we will be going back to Manley’s.

One of the best and most consistent burgers I have had in a long time. Always a fun crowd and friendly staff. Bartender was pleasant and fun. Have been there several times and will gladly go back again.

Are you into dives? If so, Manley’s Irish Mutt will be more than a 2 for you. If not stay far from this place. When reviewing a place that is obviously a dive and seems to embrace that role I try to turn my focus away from things like the quality of the menu and ingredients and instead focus on basics like restrooms, service and comfort(because why go to a dive if not to sit there and drink for a while.) The bartender at Manley’s was good. She never let us sit empty and we ordered easy drinks, so no problem there. And it was comfortable enough to earn about a 3, but the restroom… oh god the smell. It smelled like someone made all over the ground and then just poured some cleaner on top of it and left it. All things considered, I wouldn’t go back on my own, but I wouldn’t protest too long if a friend wanted to go back.

After a long day of work training, my motivation to venture too far from the hotel was minimal. Thus, a trip down the road to nearby Manley’s was my dinner decision. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was at least hoping for a decent meal. I was first surprised at the size of the large interior; a sizable bar and plenty of tables. Obviously, MIM is a local, regulars hangout, which is usually a good sign. Although it wasn’t very busy for an early weeknight, I’m assuming it fills up as the week draws to an close. There weren’t a ton of surprises on the typical bar menu, but I decided on a chicken Caesar wrap with a side of coleslaw. Honestly, I didn’t expect either to be as good as they actually were. The wrap had plenty of chicken and saturated in dressing, which I liked. The coleslaw was a simple mix, but very creamy and tasty. Regarding the service, I think the bartender must have been battling a case of the Mondays. Aside from conversing with a couple of the female locals, she wasn’t very enthusiastic or even fake-happy about working this evening. Or maybe it was just the overly loud jukebox. Oh well.

After growing up in the burbs of Indy you become accustom to these great hole in the wall bars that offer local music and loud neighborhood friends. I’d heard of Manley’s through some friends so when their band had the opportunity to play here we joined them for my pop’s 72nd birthday weekend! The atmosphere of the bar was fantastic with all of the murals dedicated to the firefighters. The food was a mix of typical bar fair and a step above. I had the North(side?) wrap… I think it was named something to that effect. It had an avocado spread and bacon in it. That topped off my choice! It was a really good wrap for a bar like this! And the homemade chips were the best that I have ever had! My parents shared one of the pizzas. I wonder if it was a store bought packaged one due to the fact that they found a piece of plastic in it. Though the server said she would do something about it; she didn’t. I found this somewhat appalling. Though the server was good with everything else we found this to be quite disappointing. Rating would have been higher if she had done something!

Drinking beer, eating good chow and meeting old friends has a dignity all it’s own. My first visit to the Mutt. Is that a leather couch in the corner, and over there? There’s one in the back too. No one was lounging there. Were they reserved for the beer gods? Naw, just mortals like us. Comfy. I didn’t have a chance to eat here, but the overall good feeling here made my bottled beer taste as if it were from Valhalla.
