JW Marriott Lobby Bar

I really enjoyed my visit to the Lobby Bar at the JW. It has some cozy corners, some tall tables or get social at the bar top.
They have a great cocktail list with some really good drinks. We ordered some with fresh ingredients (herbs, fruit) and they tasted excellent.
The service was on par and timely.
We didn’t order any food, so I can’t really speak to the menu.
I’d definitely grab a drink here again.

I’m a huge fan of the JW Lobby Bar. The drinks are always excellent and made with fresh ingredients, the staff are always very friendly, and the atmosphere is upscale without being pretentious.

I rarely give one stars but there is a minimum expectation with any establishment like the JW, which is why it is a JW. I understand the JW in Indianapolis is new and there aren’t many places like this in Indianapolis or even Indiana but that’s just not an excuse for our experience.
PROS:
1. Very nice atmosphere. Upscale. Clean. Modern.
2. There is a restaurant, lobby bar, and a sports bar all on the 1^st floor to choose from.
3. Interesting and unique cocktail menu… but make sure they have the ingredients in stock.
CONS:
1. The bartender pointed to the menu when I asked for it and so I reached for it and grabbed it. How about handing it to me nicely? Service at a place like this should be top notch.
2. I open the menu and it was all stained from a brown liquid and crinkled from liquid damage (see picture). How about not putting this menu for presentation to customers in such a nice bar like this?
3. The drink menu is definitely unique and reminds me of not a typical bar but definitely a craft cocktail bar like the ones we have in San Diego. After perusing the menu for a good 5 minutes since the drinks are more complicated than your typical drink, the drink I ordered was not available because they were «changing the menu over to a new menu soon.» How about letting me know that before I take the time to order?
CONCLUSION: I came to the JW to have an upscale, nice experience but instead experienced something subpar. This place definitely needs improvement. I would NOT come here again. Much better places in Indianapolis to have a drink.
