This place was not very good. We tried multiple things including the frog legs, duck, and classic BLT sandwich with fries, oh and also the fried pickles.

But… Five of us went for the Devour Downtown. Various appetizers(sorry — late in writing this and I don’t remember everything everyone ordered) in addition to the devour downtown option. Two people ordered from the menu. We all liked our food and all of us want to go back. But… Service was good. Our waitress was brand new and was having some obvious«new waitress» issues. The trainer she was working with was doing great. But… The location looks great. But… So, why do I keep putting«But???» Well, every time we talked about how good it was there was always a «But, …» that followed. Location is nice. But, the bathroom was filthy and when I mentioned it to the chef who was working on his laptop in the restaurant he just looked at me and mumbled something that was not all that positive. My dates dish was really good. But, one of the sides was served tepid when it should of been hot. My friends appetizer(knuckles) were a hit. But, they were too salty.

Devour Downtown is like a foodie’s Christmas and I always try to take advantage of it! This week myself and a couple of friends decided to try Bacon Legs and Turntables; its been on my list for a while. I haven’t heard a ton of buzz about the place since it opened but decided to give it a shot. We were greeted by hostesses that almost looked annoyed that we were there, one escorted us to the dining room which is pretty much the basement of the building. The atmosphere and décor were super trendy and attractive but this place was EMPTYYYY. Our server(who seemed to have just woken up) kept coming to our table in 15 minute intervals which made it hard to decide on food since we all had questions. She told us the wrong price on their craft beer special and was very little help to us when we were trying to decide. We split the shrimp corndogs which were tasty but didn’t remind me of a corndog. I got the Old McDonald Bbq Bacon Burger which was just ok. My friends and I won’t be returning to this place but I’m hoping these reviews help them turn things around, there’s nothing worse than a struggling new restaurant.

My east coast work team was in town to visit and I wanted to treat them to a unique experience they’d only find in Indianapolis. Unfortunately, our visit was the stuff of reality TV and gave them a really bad impression about the city. Despite the fact the place was nearly empty – there was one table and one guy at the bar – we waited 1.5 hours for our entrees. The wait was particularly odd because two of the entrees were salads. We had put in an appetizer when we first sat down but gave up after asking about it two times; it never showed up and we had to ask for it to be removed from our receipt when the bill came. When our food did eventually come there were only two entrees for three people – the other order was never entered. We waited another 45 minutes before eating so our friend would get her entrée and — no joke — our waitress brought out the wrong order. Eventually, we had to divide the two entrees that had sat on our table nearly an hour among the three of us, and I promised to make it up to them somehow. Our waitress was overwhelmed even though the place was empty and cried when she realized she only put in two entrée orders, once more when she brought out the wrong order the second time, and then again when we had to remind her the appetizer never came and had to be taken off the bill. We felt bad for her and she was genuinely sorry, so we still tipped her generously. However, the experience was so awful, that I had to send my coworkers an apology email and asked that they not let it color their opinion of Indianapolis. Needless to say, I will never go there again.

We recently went to BL&T with a group before a Colts game and were pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews here. After arriving earlier than the rest of our party, we headed to the bar so that my guy could check out the beer selection. The bartender was incredibly friendly and offered samples on some of the beers that he was unfamiliar with prior to buying. She was very attentive and friendly while we sat at the bar. When our group arrived, we were escorted by a very friendly staff to our table. The décor was very modern and the restaurant was very clean. Menu options were diverse and the price point was extremely affordable considering the location, quality, and portion size. Our waiter Wayne was friendly and informative. One of our group had read a recent review asking about sides, but it wasn’t even necessary to ask since he informed us the normal side was fries, but that other options were available. for substitution. We all ordered a variety of items and everyone was impressed with the quality of the food. The Cubano, and Bacon Cheese Melt were favorites, and my Old McDonald Bacon Cheeseburger was fantastic. I definitely think that if this restaurant promotes itself appropriately it could become a staple in the area. I know we’ll be back!

Looking for a new place to celebrate my birthday(with my husband and son)… this looked like a fun restaurant, so we gave it a shot. It was a beautiful evening, and parking within a half-block was easy, so we were already in a good mood. We were greeted very warmly on the street and escorted to the basement-level restaurant… although a very fun décor(up-tempo music, fun colorful furniture and lighting, etc.)… we were the ONLY ones there at 6:15pm on a Tuesday. Weird.(we were there for a total of an hour, and only two other tables came in… each with their own server) The menu looked fantastic! The concepts were interesting and sounded delicious. Sadly we were not as impressed once the food arrived. The Cubano sandwich was made with crusty French bread that overtook the ingredients inside leaving the overall impression very bland; and the Creole Shrimp and Andoille Mac & Cheese had absolutely *NO* spice whatsoever… it was just plain ol’ mac & cheese with four good-sized shrimp and 3 thin slices of flavorless sausage(for $ 19!!!). Our son gave the BBQ Bacon Cheese burger a thumbs-up(he’s 13) and we all agreed the fries were above average. Service was borderline ridiculous(with the exception of the warm welcome)… It took about 10 minutes to get two craft beers on tap(remember, we were the only ones in the place), our food took about 20 mins which was acceptable, but when the food was served we asked for water… and it wasn’t brought until after we were finished eating. Once we asked for a check and to-go box, it took almost 15 minutes for her to return… she was just hanging out behind the bar… not sure what was going on there. One of the biggest service turn offs was when we ordered the two sandwiches, it wasn’t clear that there was a side served with them, so we ordered a side of fries to share. When the meals were served, each sandwich had its own side… plus she brought an extra side… instead of explaining to us in the first place that the sandwiches already came with fries. We mentioned this to her when she served the food and she just shrugged… literally shrugged and walked away. We didn’t touch the extra fries at all. So for three meals, two beers, and a soda… $ 75 before tip. We were sorely disappointed in our experience and will not return. A quick positive note: No DJ tonight, which was fine. They had music videos running, and we quickly realized we could log into a website via smartphone and request videos for free. My son loved this bit of surprise entertainment!

We have been waiting to try BL&T since they opened and since they were on Groupon this was our chance. After being greeted by an employee on the street he walked us down a steep staircase to the basement of the building. We were seated by a girl at the bottom of the stairs. She also took our drink order. A minute or so later another waitress walked up and tried to take our drink order. We told her the other girl was helping us. Since this was the first time we had been there we had some question. I don’t think she could answer any of them without asking someone else. We are ordered. I got Old McDonald BLT. Kyle got chicken tacos. And my mom got the Chicken salad sandwich. About 20 mins later the food finally came, oh and we were the only people in the restaurant. We got 1BLT and 2 chicken tacos??? We told her that we didn’t order 2 tacos and she said we did. After she asking a few more question my mom finally got her chicken salad sandwich. The food was okay. My fries were cold and the meat on my BLT was so tough I could not bite thru it. Kyle’s tacos had pieces of skin and fat in it. Plus he bit into a bone. Mom was okay with her sandwich, her only complaint was there was not enough on it. The waitress brought our bill and brought out 3 checks. I had already told her one bill cause we had a Groupon. Needless to say we will not be back.

Décor: cute little underground spot with lots of seating for groups and tv’s that were playing videos for the music that was playing over the speakers. I don’t think they actually had the dj start spinning on the turntables until about 8p and we were there on a Saturday. Food: VERYDISAPPOINTING. Two of the people I was with ordered the Indiana Fish Fry. The fish fillet was huge and the flavor was there but both of them had food that was undercooked and greasy. We think the grease the chef was using was old because they sent back their food and ordered chicken wings which turned out to be undercooked as well. We also ordered the meatloaf which was dry and not good flavor wise. I had the old mcdonald Mac and cheese which I only ate because my table had already sent back two dishes and I didn’t want to risk sending bank a third. The only food we had that was good were the pork crostini and fried pickles. Even the shrimp corn dogs we had were nothing special. Service: the servers seemed clueless. One of the girls even brought out wings without the fries we ordered and told us they had just been put in the fryer… we never got those fries. The manager was very accommodating and she didn’t charge us for the food we couldn’t eat but with everything going on we just wanted to pay and leave. It took another 15 minutes for the waitress to figure out what the manager had done to our check so there was clearly a lack in communication. I definitely won’t be returning here.

This place makes comfort food fancy. Dimly lit and worthy of a dress shirt, this is a perfect spot for a unique and relatively inexpensive date night or gathering with friends. The menu is elegantly crafted, and provides a little something for everyone. There are many one-of-a-kind menu items you can’t get anywhere else, including cream cheese bacon sauce and ghost pepper cheese sauce. I went with the aptly titled«I’m not a bum; I’m a jerk!» also known as jerked hog shanks. The 3 shanks are served over a sweet potato plantain mash with a scotch/rum drizzle. They. Are. Incredible. The meat literally falls off the bone, leaving a completely white bone that took zero effort. If this was an option at the last supper, Jesus would have chosen this meal. The drinks are interesting(I recommend the Bacon ‘N Beam) yet delicious. My only complaint is the staff. Most of the wait staff do not belong in a «higher-end» establishment and seem to have little-to-no experience. The service isn’t the best, and if made better, this place would be a lot busier than it is. Great food, great concept, great location, and great atmosphere. Not-so-great execution. Either way, I’ll be back for the food, and I recommend you take the gamble as well.

I really love how this place looked. its so cute and eclectic! Not sure why review was so low here. Went here a few days ago on a Wednesday to use our groupon. Of course being downtown its hard to find parking, but good thing we found parking near the streets near monument circle for FREE! BLT is in between Qdobos and Jimmy Johns and there is a hostess outside to direct you it is downstairs. Looks like its in a basement. I really dig the décor. One thing I didnt like, I didnt like the music. I am all for hip hop, but the music felt like it was a club going on. It was a weekday so i didn’t think the club music was necessary. We were seated right away and we were able to use the $ 30 groupon on anything wanted. It was very hard to choose, not sure if it was over or underwhelming menu, but we really couldn’t decide. I think I was expecting a full menu of entrees like steak and pasta but I take that there menu is like bar type food. I ordered a pork tenderloin sandwich and my boyfriend got meatloaf. Food came soooo quick! Now that’s service. Tenderloin sandwich was huge! I couldn’t even finish it, i ate only half. It was good. I really enjoyed the fries that went with it. The meatloaf is ok, maybe because I am not a meatloaf fan. But I guess that’s what you order when you cant decide. To me it tasted kind of try, but again I don’t know how meatloaf tastes like. My boyfriend seem to enjoyed it. Also the sangria i order was the special white sangria, it was strong but I don’t know why the call it white for it was more pink. Maybe because they use fruit so the infusion of it made it change color. I enjoyed the sangria, it was strong and not so sweet just the way I like it. Got our check and noticed they gave us only $ 27 dollar discount for groupon instead of $ 30, but Heather our waitress went ahead and fixed that right up. I think this place is perfect for a place to kick back and chill and have a few drinks and appetizers. I would be back for a random chill night if the music was different. I hope this place does very well, because when we were there, it was not busy at all. Overall wonderful experience hope to be back to a different type of genre of music.

I’m not sure why the ratings are low here… furthermore I’m not understanding why the buzz for this place isn’t bigger. this place is awesome. First I love the interior. A very nice contemporary yet cozy atmosphere. .great place to have dinner before heading for a night out of town with friends or hell even better after a concert or a night out about or after a football or basketball game… the portions are large. .price…mmmmm mid-range. You must have $ 20 if ya want to eat solo! The bar was expansive… great choices. I had the BBQ shrimp and spunach/mixed green & strawberry salad. It came in a HUGE bowl. .but the salad was not THAT huge. but the flavor was good. The menu is extensive with items like Jerk Dog with scotch bonnet drizzle and lamb/duck bacon Mac & cheese. Most of the men ordered burgers(they had a variety) and the concensus was the burgers were really good. All in All BL&T is a very nice place with good music and even better food, to come ad a group or host a bachelor/Bachelorette party or birthday party or graduation party. .ok u get the point… come one come all. it’s worth it.

Good food and quality ingredients, using Smoking Goose products is a bonus. Service was OK and they made a great Moscow Mule. I would go back and try every single thing on the menu — I love the concept food-wise, but the staff’s clothing was lost on our whole group. Rather Hooters-like and not necessary. The great food can do the work to bring in the customers.

Went here for a quick bite on Saturday. There seemed to be a lot of confusion at the server/host stand on stand. The ambiance is cool. Had the trio of country bacon and blackened gator. The gator was a bit salty. The bacon was quite decadent.

I decided to give BL&T another try. My second time they still did not have a full menu. Third visit was 4÷4÷15. A decent Saturday night — definitely not overwhelmingly packed but not dead either. I walked in with two guests and got seated promptly. All three of us ordered waters. After about 10 minutes our server came back to take our food order. Two of us ordered the shrimp corn dogs and one ordered the French toast. After reading that it takes them forever to order the food, I decided to time the cook time on my phone. Started to get antsy after 25 minutes of not being served… At around 30 minutes our server says our food will be up next. By 40 minutes, I flag down our server and ask about our food. Her response was«oh, I thought you guys were just drinking.» Huh? We ordered waters so not quite sure where she got that idea. I asked where the food was and she said«um I’ll have to go check in the kitchen», which everyone knows is code for«I forgot to put it in.» The server never once apologized or offered to take it off our checks. We waited another 10 minutes — the time in which she didn’t make it back to our table to let us know what happened — at this point frustrated and starving, we walked out. I was absolutely blown away at the servers attitude and the fact that a manager didn’t once stop around to make sure everything was going ok. BL&T, you need to get better servers. I will not be not be returning. Good luck staying in business.

You thought you knew what the letters B, L, and T stood for, but you have no idea… Went here for the first time last night with some girlfriends and I must say, this place is quite the gem. You enter and head down two small flights of stairs and you’re suddenly taken to this underground, dimly lit, sexy, and sassy restaurant. The appropriately named Bacon Legs & Turntables, this restaurant prides itself in its unique menu options which include selections such as Blackened Gator and Crispy Frog Legs. We also indulged in their ‘I Ain’t Afraid of No Ghost’ appetizer which you think is going to be the usual chips and salsa, but this baby comes with guacamole and ghost pepper salsa and queso! The salsa was great, but the queso was a bit too hot for us ladies. Oh, and they also serve breakfast all night long — the perfect ending to a night of libations! This is definitely the place to go if you’re on the prowl for a hot date night locale. And, if you want to know where all the hot men are in Indy, they are sitting at this bar! Go get em ladies! :) They have a nice bar area with TV screens and a very cool area housing booths. Treat yo self and head down to BL&T sooner rather than later!

We went there on a sunny but cold Saturday around 2pm. When we walked in, no one was at the host stand so I after standing for a while we went to the bar and asked if we should just seat ourselves. He told us to talk to the hostess… Who still wasn’t there. After explaining this to the bartender hd was kind enough to grab menus and take us to a really nice booth table. He came with water and said although he usually doesn’t wait tables other than the bar, he’d be helping us today which we felt was kind. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes and finally went to the bar to let them know we would like to order. After that confusion things went much smoother. The food came out quickly and looked great. The price wasn’t too bad about $ 12.50 for the BLT sandwich with amazing fries. The sandwich was good filling, however I would have preferred actual avocado to the avocado mayo they they had. Overall it was an OK experience. The venue was unique but it felt off being underground. There is no ‘T’ while we were there. I am glad I checked it out but can’t say I’ll be a regular. I will say the fries were some of the best I’ve had.

Grand Opening: Entry via the red carpet, short walk down the stairs, and into a vibrant and energized atmosphere where all staff conveyed the attitude that they were happy to be there and happy that you were joining them, was our initial introduction to BL&T! We arrived around 10PM; DJs were in the DJ booth, music videos were displayed on multiple TVs throughout the restaurant and bartenders were behind a long bar handling their business. This, coupled with the trendy décor, created a great atmosphere. We received a friendly welcome from the hostess as she immediately showed us to our table. Lo and Bree(hope I have the names right), our servers, were outstanding! They were very familiar with the menu and gave good meal suggestions. And yes, they do have a fully functioning kitchen with a full menu now since the grand opening has occurred. Following our server’s suggestion, we ordered the Shrimp Corn Dogs for an appetizer, and we were glad we did. They are jumbo shrimp that have been battered, fried, and skewered on a stick. The plate on which they arrive is graced with alternating zigzags of spicy mustard and balsamic reduction, which provides a pleasant and eye catching display. They had great flavor, were nicely fried, and the spicy tang delivered by the mustard and balsamic made it an interesting dish that I would order again. For my entrée, I ordered the I’m not a Bum I’m a Jerk Hog Legs, which are jerk hog shanks. Wow! The legs were spicy, succulent, and so tender they fell off the bone. Additionally, they sat on a Sweet Potato/Plantain Mash and the entire dish was finished with a Dark Rum Scotch Bonnet Drizzle. The mash was mild and creamy, and the Dark Rum drizzle definitely complemented it. Simply, this dish was DELICIOUS! My husband ordered the Pork Tenderloin and fries and was generally pleased with it. The one drawback he mentioned was that it was too thick for his liking, and not pounded thin enough. I did taste it and thought it was well seasoned. Presently, he is on the search for the best Tenderloin in Indy so it is hard to get him to order anything else if it is on the menu. Unfortunately, we did not order dessert because we were stuffed. This was an excellent dining experience and I’m sure that BL& T will be a restaurant destination that I will visit often. In fact, I have visited a second time with my daughters. It was early in the afternoon so the vibe wasn’t as energetic and the DJs were not present, however, the staff was still as nice and helpful as the first time I visited, and music videos played on the TVs. My daughters ordered the Kitchen Sink Pot Pie and the Smoked Turkey Legs with Bacon Mashed Potatoes. The servings were large enough that they were able to take some home. Both were very pleased with their choices and had no complaints. I was just in the mood for appetizers that day, so since they have Roasted Bone Marrow, I finally took advantage of the opportunity to try it. I also ordered the Chips and Salsa, that is accompanied by guacamole and mild and spicy salsas. Unfortunately, I was not too crazy about the Bone Marrow, but that is not to say they didn’t prepare it correctly because the texture seemed to be nice and creamy, which is what I’ve read about it. I believe this is a dish that either you like it or you don’t, however, I did enjoy the toasted bread that accompanied it. The chips, salsa and guacamole were good, but I will say that the chips need a bit more salt. Finally, our server made a great drink suggestion, Red Mimosas. They had nice flavor, which included a mild tartness. To sum this all up, I love BL&T and plan to keep coming back. I plan to try some of their breakfast items and will definitely try some of the other legs on the menu. The creative and great tasting dishes, the energetic vibe and the super friendly staff have earned five stars!

It almost feels unfair to review BLT on my recent lunch visit. See, they don’t have their fryers, so there are no legs – part of their namesake. They have a limited menu and some interesting options. I went for a salad and added turkey(it was good quality deli style slices). That thing was HUGE! It was easily the size of a salad I would offer up at a dinner party for 4 – 6. I couldn’t eat the whole thing. Most of the people in my party got some sort of BLT and they were hugely impressed. That’s what I’ll be ordering next time. Loads and loads of bacon on thick slices of Texas toast. Some even had duck bacon. The servers are a bit scantily clad, meaning that I probably wouldn’t bring any big groups of ladies there, but it was a fine stop for a work lunch(where most of my party were guys). This is downstairs and easy to miss from the street. So look for the ginormous owning the protrudes from the building and take those stairs down. I’ll update once I return to see how the menu changes once their menu is finalized – or if I get to stop by to see how this translates into the turntables part.

Not much more I can add to what«Peter P.» said. They still don’t have fryers, so the menu was limited to bacon. That’s disappointing, but the staff was nice and attentive. I liked the ambiance of the place, it was a truly nice setting. The high tables are perfect for a big group of friends to gather after work for beers and a satisfying meal. They didn’t have a drink menu, so we all went off the waitresses memorization skills. One friend ordered a Bloody Mary. However, it was $ 12! I wanted to keep it to about $ 20 bucks tonight, so I had to go with a Sun King Cream Ale($ 6) the«Old McDonald 3BLT» and the Horseradish Bacon Potato Salad($ 10.95). I loved the crispy bacon. My only suggestion for this dish is in regards to plating. The sandwiches come halved and stacked on top of each other. The problem is the bottom sandwich gets a soggy crust from the heat of it being toasted. Looking forward to seeing what BL&T will have in store!

I’m usually not a fan of theme restaurants, but BL&T keeps it real classy. As the name says, BL&T is all about bacon(the perfect food), legs(turkey, chicken, frogs, women’s) and turntables(live DJ). I was here during the soft-opening so the menu was limited(no legs as the necessary kitchen equipment hadn’t been installed yet). However, bacon was available and was amazing. The Old McDonald BLT is the way to get the full bacon experience(with a side of bacon potato salad). The thick slab bacon(lamb, duck, pig) was cooked to a perfect crispness and was complemented by the house mayo. The potato salad wasn’t too bacon-forward and had a touch of horseradish to kick it up a notch. Service was fast and friendly which is a surprise(the fast part anyway) for a new restaurant. The all-female waitress brigade wore short shorts to keep with the«legs» theme. But don’t think this is another Hooters wannabe. The leggy waitresses fit right into the theme and aren’t to be considered the main attraction. Décor is all done up in black, white, and red and is befitting a lounge atmosphere. There is an elevated DJ booth by the entrance(at the bottom of the staircase) which is where the turntables come in. There are several flat-screen TVs around the restaurant(kid-friendly) and bar area on which old R&B music videos were playing. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience at BL&T and the prices were reasonable($ 10 for my sandwich and side). It’s just a stones’ throw from my office so I foresee many a lunch date here.
