We went this afternoon, my little younglings and I. We frequent this Baskin-Robbins frequently, about 4−5x a is owned by a husband and wife. They are so sweet and kind and always friendly. The wife knows my kids and I by face and is always glad to see us. This place is a ritual for us and we love it. We’ve been to many other ice cream shops including the place of Mass Ave you make your own flavors and Handel’s in Fishers. The kids and I both consider this our fave. The flavors, the service and environment, all top notch!

I grew up on 31 flavors, and with all the change over the years, I’m glad I can still count on Baskin Robbins to satisfy my sweet tooth. My coworker and I were scoping out a meeting location in Broad Ripple and I mentioned that it was discount scoop Tuesday. Before she could make the turn, we pulled into Donato’s lot and jumped the rail. She mentioned remembering her trips to BR many years back when she lived in the area and how she used to buy their cakes. She inquired about German Chocolate Cake, only available on occasion and in August as the flavor of the month. The owner confirmed that the last two available quarts would be in within an hour, so she bought them with my offer to pick them up on my way home. I zoned out and in on my all time favorite; Daquiri Ice. The only way it could taste better is if you blended it with a splash of rum. My guiltless pleasure. My Southern friend got a scoop of pralines and cream, a woman after my own heart. I almost forgot my post work commitment, then realized the secret was out about the discount Tuesday scoops when I entered a packed store. Even still, I was greeted and offered assistance right away. The BR logo’d bag didn’t go unnoticed when I got home, and I had to explain that it wasn’t mine to share. I must admit, had the owner not stapled the bag, that German Chocolate Cake deliciousness would have disappeared before she was able to miss them!

New owners, but that is not why the location bumped down a star. Now instead of the owners working there, they have minimum wage high school kids, and they are not the most knowledgeable. Their scoops are super small now. I could have sworn that a four ounce scoop still weighed four ounces. Prices have gone up despite the smaller scoop. The cakes are not as impressive as the previous owner’s creations. The ice scream is still good though, and the store is very clean. On Tuesday’s they have special promos that vary throughout the seasons. They also have 40 flavors! Many more than the traditional 31. It is an odd location for an ice scream shop because the only foot traffic is from the neighboring strip mall tenants. The location near MCL; across from Marsh, right next to 40 minute cleaners is not ideal. If you are not familiar with BR, and want to do something safe try the Gold Medal Ribbon, a vanilla and chocolate rice cream with a ribbon of carmel. If you are a coffee lover, try the Jamoca Almond Fudge or a Cappuccino Blast. Peanut butter lovers should try Peanut Butter and Chocolate, or Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. If you like nuts, try the Black Walnut or Pralines N Cream. If you love chocolate, try the Chocolate Fudge or Mississippi Mud or Chocolate Mousse Royale! Kids will love the Rainbow Sherbet or Pink Bubble Gum. However I would not recommend the latter for adults. There are sooo many flavors. You will have to come back to try them all! Cheers!

Great tasting ice cream, and service! Large portions, a little more than needed, but I’m not complaining!
