Old Mexico Restaurant

Great food, great service, love the green sauce with my chips. House burrito with pork is my favorite. Tamales are also good. Coldest beer in town!

food is disgusting. nothing mexico about it. the tacos are hard shell tacos, not tortillas like they’re supposed to be. that’s gross. if you call your place «old mexico», make sure you have mexican food and mexicans cooking the food. if you americans want hard shell tacos, go to taco bell.

Seriously, would it be too much to ask for some acceptable service standards? I know that you shouldn’t expect much in Independence, but I’ve been better treated at the drive thru coffee shack down the street.
The food is not good and is certainly not inexpensive. And the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired as well. I’ve given this place multiple chances to show what it can do, and each time I’m reminded why I don’t come back. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. I suggest you do as well.

A very nice family owned and operated restaurant. The servers are always friendly and the food always comes out VERY fast! The prices are also great! Our family of four can eat here for $ 25 each time. The décor is a lil outdated but I’m not here to eat the décor! Lol

This was my first time here, and it was fabulous! The lady who waited on us went out of her way to make sure I’d like what I had ordered. The prices are very fair, and we didn’t break the bank. We drove over an hour and I will do it again. Its well worth the drive.

I walked in. Completely ignored for almost 10 minutes. I asked if they were closed as I was the only person in there (should been a hint). The sarcastic waitress said ‘hold on’.
Ok, as if waiting for 10 minutes wasn’t bad enough. She came to take my order-​very short and rude. Brought chips and salsa, which resembled and tastes like warm spicy soup-​horrible. 3 chips, got up And walked out.

If I could give no stars I would. We’ve been going there off and on for years and for some reason they haven’t heard of the says if it isn’t broken don’t fix it. Our food prices were raised and the portions were cut in half. I’d be happy with that but the food is gross inedible and service was rude. The daughter of the place argued with me when I asked why they changed the food. She told me it’s always been like this. Well it hasn’t. We would not recommend or return. Zero stars. VERY GROSS!!!

I am pretty opened minded when it comes to Mexican food, but this was atrocious. Sometimes the hole in a wall restaurant can make up for the dirtiness with amazing food, this was not one of them. Just go to Taco Bell, it’s cheaper and tastier. I am pretty sure the salsa was tomato soup, the Mexican rice was just minute rice with some of the tomato soup mixed in. Wouldn’t touch the beans with a 10 foot pole.

Nasty awful the worst and they charged us double the price of any decent Mexican restaurant save your money go to Taco Bell.
The funny part was the owner wouldn’t even eat the food she just ate chips the nasty cheese sauce and drank margaritas.

Tried this place for the first time a few months ago on a Sunday. There weren’t very many people there so we were unsure of how the food would be. The three of us were pleasantly surprised. Good food for a good price.

First off let me warn you that this is NOT a place you want to eat at. First issue was the chips and salsa. The chips were old and stale. They were almost rubbery and needed thrown out days ago. The salsa was simply a tomato paste of some sort and was absolutely disgusting.
The next issue was that the waitress came back to the table to ask us what our order was again 4 times. However to be fair I think they were understaffed. This must have been true because we were one of only 5 parties in the entire restaurant yet it took LITERALLY 1 hour for us to get our food!
The next problem I had was I asked if they had a taco salad fajita when I was ordering and she said yes. So I ordered that. I was presented with a normal salad with chicken on it. Although the order was wrong I let it go and dug in. The chicken was very over cooked but had a decent taste to it. I also ordered a burrito that I had planned on taking home for lunch the next day. However after losing interest in my salad I ate half of the burrito which was all I could stomach. The re-​fried beans were dry and crusty like they were old and the burrito had very little flavor at all. It had a red sauce on it which was just disgusting. It tasted like dollar general tomato soup.
Overall I would have to say prices were high, quality was low and service was poor. I hate to say it but this is one of those places that is destined to fail. I expect it to be vacant soon.

We went there soon after it opened and although the food was great (my burrito was massive), the interior was in poor condition and their table sauce tasted like cheap tomato sauce poured straight from a can. No, originality, flavor or kick to it at all. That being said, their food prices were affordable and so were their prices for drawn beer, but a good, zesty table sauce is a must for any decent Mexican food restaurant, IMHO. So, unless they’ve vastly improved on that, I highly doubt that I’ll go back.

Good food and very inexpensive. Service is okay, depending on who your waitress is. Décor is a bit worn, but with enough of their $ 1.25 draws, I can live with it. Nice little neighborhood restaurant.

Burnt food. Bad service, and dirty

Its been a while since ive been there but the food was great and their price was surprisingly low. Would recommend and I plan to go again soon.
