Female owned and operated business. Use them if you love to be abused! They need a course in Customer Relations THEYTAKESHORTCUTSBUTCHARGEFULLPRICE. SUMMARY: Cantankerous from the first minute of their late arrival; bitched about my request to just make keys for the lock vs. drilling; refused to use customer-requested graphite in new lock; agreed but later refused to repair two earlier jobs done by them involving a crooked front door knob backplate(both sides of door), and an upside-down back-door backplate; refused to buff the keys smooth if I brought them in; bitched about how many jobs they still had to get done that night. AND they were able to collect double $$ for coordinating TWO jobs in the SAME building, running between them rather than finishing one before starting the other! DETAIL: Two women showed up to rekey the mailbox. I wanted to know why keys couldn’t be made for the lock to save money. «It doesn’t work that way,» and without even looking up at me, said«Anyway, you’d have to pay $ 75 for the service call.» HUH? [Yeah, cause you can get more f*kg money if you drill out the lock!] Then they couldn’t even pick the lock;had to pry the door with screwdrivers and other tools. I was afraid the aluminum door would get warped or broken with the force of prying but they finally got it open far enough to turn, open and remove the lock when she said she had to go back to the store for parts. Now, I’m not a locksmith, but doesn’t it just make sense that, if you know why you’re going to a job, you’d be prepared with several various sized items – especially when you have a service van? About 90 minutes later a knock at my door for payment from the older woman. The locksmith was still working in the other unit. I asked to try the keys and determined the stiff lock needed graphite. She wanted to use WD-40.(Every good locksmith should know that WD contains solvents and can gum up locks) «I don’t want WD-40» «Well, you don’t want graphite because it’s messy.» Long pause. «Then if I bring the keys in, can you buff the sharp edges down?» «Those are new keys, they’ll wear down eventually.» DUH! After arguing about the trim plates behind both door knobs that the other one installed in September, the bill collector first told me there was nothing wrong with them, but finally said they’d come back later and fix them at no charge. When I asked her to put it in writing on my receipt, she insisted first on payment($ 160) for the mailbox lock and keys. She told me they had lots more jobs to go to(at 5PM on a Friday?) «I told you I was willing to wait until Monday or later. It was your choice to come today!» By that time they both had successfully worn me down by ARGUINGAGAINST everything I had asked, so I signed and told the old one to leave and just forget about it. The«smith» is a middle-aged long-haired blond lady and the bill collector she brings along Is about 80y.o. with short blond hair, garish makeup and dresses like a teen-ager(or streetwalker) in a vest, tight jeans and boots. I had a candy machine with no keys. Brought it into Ace Lock & Key to get new keys made. I asked how much for new keys I was told $ 18 and it would take a few days When I picked it up, the price was $ 74 and it only took a couple of hours. What happened to $ 18? Had I known it was going to be that expensive I would have thrown it in the trash.

What a day! I came into work, and the cleaning lady had locked all our offices. Guess what? We don’t have keys for our internal office doors. We spent a good 45 minutes trying to break into the offices. After we wasted our energy and time we needed a lock smith and pretty fast. We get very busy, and without our offices open there isn’t much we can do to help people. I called around, and Ace Lock & Key had the shortest wait time. They were a tad later than they quoted us, but not so bad. My only gripe is that it cost $ 150 bucks to open three interior doors. Seemed a little steep. The lady was nice and fast so all and all I would probably use them again. Hopefully I don’t have the need.
