Beautiful park with good hiking and excellent fishing(need Nevada fishing license for 12+ years or older). Not a lot of people, so is nice to relax. Parking is $ 10. Services include an overnight stay in backcountry cabins and mountain bike rentals for riding miles of trails in the summer months. Spooner Lake is also a major trailhead for gaining access to the Spooner Backcountry. The backcountry comprises more than 12,000 acres of forested open space with over 50 miles of hiking, equestrian and mountain biking trails and primitive roads. Warning: General Store isn’t very well marked nor does it have much beyond rental equipment.

Only 20 minute drive from the smoke filled casinos filled with broken card dreams and lifeless slot machines is the natural charm of a near untouched lake and trails. Spooner also offers restrooms, picnic area with bbq stands, and during the summer bike rentals. We hiked the 2 mile loop in light snow and enjoyed the many Facebook photo ops.

It was a lot of fun! We hiked in the snow so I’m sure I didn’t get the full experience but there are nice and easy trails to follow. Fun for a group, families, or friends. A great alternative to gambling.

This is a gorgeous spot. I took like 50 pictures on my walk around part of the lake. Stopped at the mountain bike store and grabbed a snack. Lots of nature to look at and never get bored with. When you’re in town check it out. Entrance good for three spots: Spooner Lake, Sand Harbor, and Cave Rock.

Really beautiful lake. The 2.1 mile loop trail is super easy and you are treated to some awesome Aspen trees as well as views of the lake and mountains. Nice picnic area here, which is a nice place to stop after a hike. There are also several other trails here and a few for mountain biking. Bonus is that your $ 6 entry fee is good at Cave Rock AND Sand Harbor for the day. I’m still not sure if they would charge you the extra $ 2 or not for Sand Harbor since entry there is $ 8.
