Hye Meadow was our first stop on our informal Texas winery tour. Lindsey who conducted our tasting was super sweet and very knowledgable about the wines. I liked being able to select which wines I could taste from the big list and there were several I really enjoyed. I’m newer to the drier wines so this gave me a nice opportunity to try some drys and some semi sweets. The tasting was $ 15 and included 6 wines I believe and also included the glass. The price though above what I’m used to at home is standard for this area so they are right on par with the many other nearby wineries. Lindsey was also quite helpful in pointing us in the right direction to hit some other nice wineries and even finding us which ones would be open on a Monday since some of them were closed. They also have a nice patio area to enjoy a glass and the area is very peaceful and serene. I will also add that their bathroom was very nice and clean as well which is always a plus!

My fourth visit. Stellar as always. Great service, wines, and cheese plates. Hye Market is next-door with tons of other goodies to taste and shop for.

The scenery outside was really nice and open and enjoyable. I give that two thumbs up. The personality of the girl working in the tasting room… I give her two thumbs down. She had very little knowledge of wine and was insulting in her attitude toward me and my questions. The wine, well its a preference. I enjoyed a couple of the reds. I would have stayed a while longer, but when I feel insulted, I take my business elsewhere. I go to these small wineries in Texas Hill Country for the great experiences of good scenery, good people, and good wine. I didn’t find it here.

The Junkyard Red is to die for! Beautiful porch with great scenery. Would recommend for any romantic sunset watching evening.

The facility is very nice inside and out back. The staff are friendly, but lacking any depth of wine knowledge. They are salespeople who know just the basics. The grapes are sourced from Texas, Washington, and New Mexico. All of the wine is bottled and aged locally. Their prices are reasonable and the quality is good. Hye Meadow is on par with competing wineries of its caliber.

My husband dragged me here because he was hoping the owner was Armenian.(Hye-istan is the Armenian word for Armenia). Alas, he was not! However, we still enjoyed a lovely wine tasting. The owner is friendly and the sparkling wine is absolutely delicious. They also let you keep the lovely souvenir mug. Alas, no ice wine. Apparently they can’t make it in Texas because it requires a frost to get the sugar content up in the grapes or something like that. So I learned something too. They also have game sets so you can play bean bag toss in the yard(or corn hole as they call it in these parts. No, I do not know why.)

Tried to call multiple times to make a reservation and no one ever answered the phone but our group still went to the vineyard. We walked in and there were a few people at the bar and a party outside. We told them we would grab a few bottles and sit outside– the hostess was rude and said«only the person buying bottles go to the bar, everyone else needs to go outside»… Our group ordered multiple bottles and bar staff was negative and not helpful(rolling their eyes). Outside was open and pretty but not good compared to other nearby vineyards. They did have yard games(ladder golf and horseshoes) so I give it 2 stars! Don’t waste your time and money… There are other better places nearby!

A fairly new winery in the Hill Country that is quietly growing and making some great wines. I highly recommend them for an afternoon visit. A wonderful back porch, peaceful views and great wines.

We loved, loved Hye Meadow!!! The Junkyard Red was fantastic and we brought a bottle home. The inside of the building was very cool with the chalkboard border. Outside was spacious and inviting. We sat and enjoyed a glass and the view.

Came out for the Wicked Wine 5K. The venue itself was pretty. The vineyard looks new as the grapevines were young. We weren’t able to see the inside tasting room. The outside tasting areas were open. They had a great outdoor music venue with a live band playing. It would be a great place for a picnic blanket or folding chairs. Enjoy good wine, music, and family. The run itself was through the back part of the property and the end went through the vineyard area. Beautiful property with a lot trees and much needed shade. We got to try the Junkyard White(my favorite), Junkyard Red, and Hyejinks(my husbands favorite.) They had food trucks as well and it’s my understanding they have live music and a food truck out every Saturday.
Hye Meadow is hands-down my favorite winery in all of Texas! I’ve yet to taste a wine that I didn’t like. Have taken many friends out here and all have thoroughly enjoyed their time. Staff is always super friendly. Love it!

Picturesque winery with ample room for tastings. The tasting room staff was pleasant but not overly friendly compared to some of the other wineries we visited. I’m also not a big fan of a single tasting fee erased after a purchase of 3 wines. It seems contrary to industry practice when you compare to other locations throughout the US. We found some wines we enjoyed and purchased a Texas Tempranillo and a New Mexico Petite Sirah. Overall we had a good visit just not something I would rush to tell everyone about.

I came here with a tour group. It was rather cold and kind of drizzling outside, and they were going to sit us outside for the tasting. We asked to get the heaters turned on, and they said«no». Don’t know what the circumstances were, but they didn’t elaborate. Luckily, our amazing tour guide convince them to at least let us go inside into the tasting room, so we wouldn’t freeze our butts of outside. The staff was decidedly not friendly, and seemed annoyed that we were there. I asked for a piece of paper and pen multiple times(so I could take notes on the tasting), and eventually my friend just stole a post it for me from behind the bar. The sad thing is, there wine was delicious(though pricey), but the whole experience was soured by the owner and staff. We made a point to tell our guide that they shouldn’t work with that winery anymore, since they were terrible to their customers.

Best winery we went to on the tour. Loved the Junkyard red! The flight options could have been improved by allowing more choices, but all of the wines on the flight I chose were good! Great view off the back porch where we say and are lunch. Would definitely recommend !

Great great great great! The only thing I would do differently is order the regular wines to taste. I got the Hye and dry listed and(while I love my wine dry) my companions enjoyed their tasting better. Heck, I enjoyed their tasting better. Great view of the flat hill country out back. The tasting room was clean and not crowded. We got great indiviudal attention and they comp your tasting with a purchase of two bottles. Yeehaw!

After reading all of the great reviews about this place I have to say I was a little skeptical that they were all real — but out of about 10 wineries that we visited, it ended up being our favorite. The wines were very good, the pours were pretty generous, and the staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable. One of our favorite things was the big windows overlooking the land in the back — very pretty and nice to look at while tasting. Tasting fees are waived with the purchase of 2 bottles and the wine was so good that we did buy 2. Would definitely go back and put this on the top of my list to visit next time I’m here.

Park like fun setting, unpretentious, with good to better than average wines, highlighting grapes currently from Texas High Planes and Washington state. Hye Meadow has been at the top of my list of new 290 wineries that I have wanted to try. The winery is located on sublime land predominantly surrounded by an oak meadow. They have built a modest fun modern tasting room that highlights the park like oasis behind it. The three different outdoor decks and multiple hanging tree swings invite you to quickly take your tasting outside. Pets are allowed with you outside, and you can bring your own food items to have with your wine for a lovely afternoon picnic. I loved that some of the tasting room walls are painted with chalkboard paint so you can release your creative chalk energies. The owners are passionate and friendly, serving up the tastings themselves behind the counter. The other staff were also nice and informative. The tasting fee for a flight is $ 10, which is waived(for 1 person) if you buy 2 bottles. We didn’t get a chance to try everything, but from what we tasted they are off to a good start here. There was nothing horrid, the whites seemed stronger than the red’s here. The white’s were better than average, the Viognier was my favorite and a strong standout. One of my favorite Texan Viognier to date, tied with Hilmy. The few red’s we tried were OK, it seemed as if they were just too young yet and were missing something(Sangiovese and Tempranillo). The one that I found was better than average was the Aglianico, it had some spice and was complex and full. The prices here are fairly similar with the other wineries on the 290 road. They also have some snacks you can purchase to eat as well. I am excited to taste future offerings from Hye.

One of my favorite questions to inquire of a winery owner is what made you want to open a winery? Nearly every Texas winery or vineyard owner has a great story. And the owners of Hye Meadow Winery are no exception. The property has both an indoor and outdoor tasting room. The outdoors is designed to accommodate the winery tour buses on busy weekends. The winery showcases live music and a food trailer on Saturdays. The indoor tasting room has a large tasting bar at the center and the walls are lined with chalkboards with both witty and sometimes cheesy plays on the word«Hye». Tastings are $ 10 a person and you get your choice of one of two set tastings of about 6 – 8 wines. If you buy two bottles they waive one tasting fee. You also can purchase a bottle to enjoy on their patio or on the swinging chairs playfully hanging from trees on their property. I enjoyed the wines here and I do not like most Texas wines so that says a lot. The employee that gave us our tasting was super friendly and knowledgeable about the tasting notes and where the grapes are grown. Mike the owner is down to Earth and enjoyable to chat with. He was kind enough to offer us a taste of one of their small barrel wines which was a rose Dolcetto. Speaking of Dolcetto it was one of my favorites of their wines. We bought a bottle of the Dolcetto and The Junkyard Red made of 100% Texas grapes(55% Mourvedre, 38% Merlot, 7% Tempranillo). Tip: They have free Hye WiFi
