People need to appreciate this place for the fact that it serves a very necessary purpose by contributing to the limited nightlife scene in Hyattsville. Like another reviewer, my experience was on the walk back from a night out in DC. Drunk and looking for snacks and a nightcap, my friend and I ambled into the bar late on a Saturday night. The chips and salsa hit the spot and our drinks were promptly served and reasonably priced. Although the atmosphere was loud, we were never made to feel out of place. Even late at night, it was a welcoming environment

I do not recommend this place to anyone. 1.) The seating arrangement at this place is horrible because it feels as though everyone is too close. 2.) The chips and salsa they give are bad as well. The chips were super hard and didn’t have any flavor. 3.) The music in this place was super loud to the point I felt I was yelling at my friends. Second, when English music came on it was really inappropriate. 4.) I ordered nachos with no meat… And It took 40mins for the nachos to arrive –_– The nachos weren’t great either. My friend got some type of burrito and she said it wasn’t good. 5. Lastly, the bathroom was super dirty. Note: you are much better off going to chipotle :)

This place is just around the corner, so I took my sis and niece for a bite here when we didn’t have a car seat and needed to walk. I’ll admit the location is supremely convenient(admittedly, that might be where my stars come in), but that’s about where it stops. First, they only brought water for me and my sis and completely ignored Amalie for drinks. The chips and salsa they brought out to start was a nice touch, but the rest of the food was just disappointing. My sister got tacos and said the meat tasted kinda funny. I agreed with that as the shrimp and beef in my mixed fajita platter were not great. The veggies and chicken were okay though — so I’d say stick with chicken for your meal.

I can only vouch for the take out. My friend informed me that we would be having the fried red snapper, but what her husband accidentaly brought was the Mojarra Frita«Tilapia». I’m not a fan of tilapia at all, but this was one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had! The fish was seasoned and fried perfectly. And the salad dressing or yellow sauce that they add was finger licking good. I can’t wait to try the actual red snapper.

I had an excellent meal at this very authentic Salvadorian/Mexican eating establishment! I ordered the Carnitas Mixtas, while my friends had the Soft Taco platter, the Nachos dish, and the La Union salad. They all said their dishes were great. I will definitely recommend the ASR to all my friends in the DC area!

The bartender did not know what an Absolut and soda was, even after I explained it in Spanish. Had to point the 2 ingredients out to her. Forget about a lime garnish. Oh well, I’m sure I was the first to order anything more complicated than a Tecate. We sat at the bar for a nightcap on the way home from DC so no food was ordered. However, the leftover chips and salsa the bartender gave us were good. Or maybe we were already wasted. Hard to tell. The jukebox has a great selection of Spanish music, from Daddy Yankee to Romeo Santos to Pedro Infante. I know because we played all of it. I’ve ordered pupusas and nachos from here for takeout before. Pretty good, fairly priced, and they don’t care where you sit while you wait.
