Huntsville Utilities

I have never had a truly horrible time with Hsv Util. Their fees are a little ridiculous, but most of them can be avoided if you are an adult and pay your bills on time. The wait for a customer service agent over the phone is usually not horrible. I’ve never had to wait over ten minutes to be spoken to.
On site is usually very busy, especially in the evenings, but they do have the convenience of paying online, and also handling most of your account issues online. Most of the people complaining are honestly not trying to independently seek solutions to their issues. Hsv Util is okay, but certainly not as bad/​good as some people make them to be. Just okay.

This utility company is awful!!! I made a mistake and forgot to pay my utility bill. I went the next morning at 9:11 and paid the bill I came back home found a note on my door saying my utilities were cut off at 9:07. I called to let them know that I paid the bill they said they would have it on as soon as possible well 9 hours later they finally come on and turn my power on. Now granted it was my fault that I didn’t pay the bill but nine hours it took them 9 hours to cut it back on that’s ridiculous especially when it is over 90 degrees outside. If we had another option to get utilities turned on somewhere else I would definitely change from Huntsville utilities!

This company sucks. $ 70 transfer fee? $ 40 fee if you pay your bill 1 day late. Boooooo! Boooooo this company.

What a nice bunch of people! We went to get our utilities turned on in our new house, and the staff there couldn’t have been more helpful. We were waited on promptly, and they helped us fill out the forms for the credit discount. The only glitch is, you have to ASK them if you can get a discount. The usual fee for turning on the utilities is $ 300, but if you have excellent credit, you can get a $ 200 discount. If I hadn’t known about the discount, they probably wouldn’t have mentioned it. However, once I asked, they helped me to a computer and walked me through the application process. A few minutes later we were on our way. It pays to do your homework. Thanks, Unilocal,for giving me the heads up about the credit check discount.

Customer service has never been rude to me. They are always super friendly and polite. Also, they typically turn the utilities on quicker than the «required two days» which is another nice thing,
I noticed on their web site today that the deposit for a new customer may be reduced from 300 to 100 if you have an «excellent credit score» — however, it ONLY applies to «brand new service» — in other words, if you are a landlord, and have intermittent service, due to only needing it in between tenants, you are considered a «New» customer every time you turn on the utilities. BUT, you do not qualify for the «excellent credit score» discount. Confusing? Yes. Deceptive? Me thinks so. Too bad there’s no alternative.

This is the worst utility company we’ve ever had to deal with!!! When we moved into our apartment, they wouldn’t even turn our power on, unless we gave them a $ 300 deposit! Outrageous!!! Every month when we get our bill there is a threatening note on it (even though we’ve never been late paying), that if they don’t receive our balance due by a certain date they will shut us off. What a joke! When you try to pay your bill at the company, they will not take cash or debit/​credit cards. They will only take a check. We didn’t even know this until we waited in line for 15 minutes, only to be turned away! If there were any other utility companies in this area, I would NEVER be using this place!

Worst ever. Wouldn’t connect us until the house number on our rental was on the door (never mind it was on the mailbox) and then charged us $ 115. to come back the next day. The first bill we ever got stated that it was our final notice???
One month we misplaced bill-​literally just a few days late and service guy comes literally pounding on the door. I’m sick in bed, kids are scared to death (they’ve been taught not to answer the door) and by the time I get to the window to look for a vehicle, he’s banging on the side of the house and shutting the power off. He «graciously» gave us a few hours to straighten it out. Never been treated like a common criminal before. Welcome to Alabama!

Awful!!! Everybody is in a pissed off mood 24/​7, long lines, if you call them you are on the phone no less than 30 min. Then when you do got to talk to someone they are rude and hateful! If I didn’t need power, I would not waste my time with these jerks!!! Terrible, terrible people!!!
