The bins are accessible even at the weekend when the offices are closed. When I went there cardboard and other recycling bins were overflowing while the glass ones where ok. You can park your car in front of the bin and unload easily. I’m not happy that curbside recycling doesn’t recycle glass in Huntsville but this is a good alternative for anybody who wants to recycle it anyway.

You would think a city that advertises itself as being one of the smartest cities in America would address the crappy recycling program here. Why do I think this? Because anytime I want to recycle anything I have to drive to the Huntsville Recyclers to do so. There are no other recycling drop-off spots in the city, and unless you live in a house, you can kiss curb-side recycling good-bye. The Huntsville Recyclery is located in an inconvenient area, and the fact that they don’t take any plastics unless they are #1 and #2 kinda stinks(I’ve usually been able to recycle 1-#6); plus they make you sort your glass by color(never had to do that anywhere else I lived either). Being a good steward of the earth is kinda difficult here-huh?! Oh, most of the time when I go the bins are overflowing with soggy trash so I usually end up praying my paper and cardboard doesn’t blow out. Note to the ‘smart city’-invest in bins with some sort of lid or cover!
