Update– I’ve now tried the quiche, black bean soup, chick pea sloppy joe, grilled cheese sandwich, beer cheese soup, and the pear panini. Everything has been amazing!!! Awesome little lunch spot

I don’t go here enough, but this is definitely one of the best places to eat in Huntington. I usually stick with the lunch special of grilled cheese and black bean soup, the two go together very well. The whole place has a cozy, intimate feel. There are some board games beside the tables so you and a friend can have some fun while waiting on food. Everything I’ve tried from the desserts, coffee, and entrees have been top notch.

Baked goods are great, if they have any. Lunch portions are ridiculously small. Kale quinoa salad was inedible. It was just blanched kale with a little quinoa sprinkled on it and some tomatoes. No dressing or flavor. It could be so much more.

Nice outdoor seating area and free wi-fi. Food is good and so was the coffee. Small menu with unique items. The staff seems cool too. Indoor patrons where a little«businessy» so we found a plug outside to hang and work on things. Oh and they have a train next door at the visitor center!

Friendly service and delicious food. Unique menu choices if not limited. Lunch portions are insulting for the price. Im a relatively small guy who doesnt eat much but ive payed 9 bucks for lunch and still leave hungry. Go for coffee and and fresh baked bread. Avoid this place for meals. 3.5 stars^

Our recent trip to Huntington turned out to be a delight, thanks to places such as River and Rail. This is one of my sister-in-law’s favorite coffeeshops, and we absolutely see why. Delicious baked goods(so hard to choose!). Yummy coffee. Great atmosphere(brick walls, plenty of nooks, and very kind staff).

This place has a very cozy atmosphere and has a great selection of breads, pastries, and other desserts. The fruit tarts are especially wonderful and they manage to make something as simple as a cafè au lait seem special. Definitely check this place out(as well as all the shops that surround it)!

This place is my jam. Let’s be real, Huntington’s options are limited, so to have a local bakery and coffee place is a luxury. There are people in this fine city who are trying to make it fine again, trying to draw business downtown, and above all, trying to keep it all local. River and Rails may be a few cents more than your Starbucks — I’ll give you that — but it’s a few cents more that stay circulating here in Huntington: keeping local business alive is the key to saving a town that would have died years ago without Marshall around. So, students, locals, and everyone else, head down to the local place. One of only a few local coffee shops in Huntington. River and Rails is some of the best coffee around, with the best pastries and bread. The vibe is great, the environment good enough. The outdoor seating is nice in the Fall and Spring, and there are quite a few seats inside as well. Then, when you’re done with your cappuccino or your latte or your black coffee, take a walk around Heritage Village and check out Bottle and Wedge, or the new co-op grocery, or Sip, Huntington’s new wine bar. Enjoy the Jewel’s local flavor: hopefully it’s here to stay.

Located in the main building at Heritage Station, this little bakery/coffee shop(handcrafted artisan breads and pastries, coffee, tea and espresso) also serves a limited breakfast and lunch. In a bit of Heritage Station Shops cross-pollination, today’s salad of the day was a Caprese made with heirloom tomatoes from The Wild Ramp, the local food market. Generously portioned and topped with a delicious balsamic reduction, the salad was a perfect meal on a super hot July day. It also came with a fresh-baked demi-baguette which was chewy without being tough. A tall frosty iced Earl Grey tea completed the experience. Overall, very satisfying.
