Great food, great service. I sit at the bar since I go in alone while on LI for work. I’m always made comfortable — the bartender, Andrea, is great, and the owner is very friendly.

Tonight’s special: bait and switch. My wife and I ate here with two gift certificates we won at a raffle. When we got to the end of the meal, the manager, Fernando, refused to take the second one — despite there being no restrictions on the certificates at all — because otherwise he’d «lose money.» Chief, you’re going to lose money anyway because someone’s going to end up using the certificate and your aggressively customer-unfriendly service means no one I know will eat at your restaurant thereafter. One star for sympathizing with a waiter who knew his manager is a jackass, and another for food that didn’t give me the runs.(The food, however, is no better than it is at any of the Island’s thousand other Italian restaurants. Even at a discount, the meal was second-tier.)

Maybe hit it on a bad night. Food was bland, waitress was terrible. Dining room layout was so tight you couldn’t move.

I hadn’t been to Pomodorino in several years, but we decided to hold my son’s baptism party there yesterday. I was crossing my fingers that the food would be good, and Pomodorino’s did not disappoint. The owner worked with me from the beginning. He opened the restaurant at whatever time worked for us and had a full crew of servers to assist. They did not require a minimum number of guests for this(we wound up with 35 people, which can be an odd number for a party). The restaurant is adorable. It feels like an Italian trattorria, and even my Italian grandmother loved it. They had television screens set up around the restaurant, which worked out nicely for us, because the guests could follow the Jets/Giants game that they otherwise might have missed. Serviced was top notch. Our drinks were kept full, bread and appetizers were refreshed until we were full, and special requests were complied with nicely(we had a few people with special diets and it was not a problem accommodating them). The food was fantastic. We tried their large catering menu which included appetizers(calamari was perfectly fried, mozzarella was fresh and delicious), a salad(tasty and larger portions than I anticipated), a pasta course(penne a la vodka was a huge hit) and choice of five entrees. Quite a few people were full by the time the entrees came out and wound up taking them home. Anyone who ate their entrees(myself included) was very happy. The salmon with sauteed spinach was one of the largest fish portions I’ve ever seen(though my preteen brother happily finished his) and the spinach was raved about. Veal marsala was smothered with mushrooms. All of the portions were large and fresh. For dessert, everyone received mini cannolis(very good) and capuccino/espresso/tea/coffee. The capuccinos were spot on, and all of the hot drinks came out timely and hot. I am so glad we chose this restaurant for our party. It worked out perfectly, and everyone left saying that they would definitely come back here for dinner sometime. Party pricing was very decent, and seemed even moreso after I saw the large portions and great service. My family and I will go back here, as it seems a great spot where you can bring your whole family but also get a meal that mom and dad will appreciate!

Not very good. Food was a bit bland. What they lose in flavor they attempt to make up in portion size. There is much better Italian in the area. My wife says the bar pizzas were good, but I didn’t try it.

We went here last night, thinking it would be great, based off having gone to other locations many years ago. We thought it was a good sign that the parking lot was packed. We sat down rather quickly, but we were extremely disappointed with the food. I ordered the lasagna con carne, and my girlfriend ordered pasta with garlic and oil. Both were very bland. We were very surprised by how awful the food was and do not plan on going back.

I come here often with my boyfriend using groupon. We never leave disappointed! Food is delicious, large portions and the best part of Pomodorino is the service. We always get the same waiter but we are happy to see him because he’s very attentive and sweet. Will be coming back again and again!

My brother-in-law Took his family there this past Saturday. As the waiter gave them silverware which was wrapped in a napkin a cock a roach came out. No joke real deal cockroaches stay away unless you like roaches on your plate.

BEST Italian food I’ve had in a long long time!!! Total surprise too. Father-in-law had a Groupon or something and we were thinking about moving to the area, so this was a pit stop — but oh my! The meat was delicious! The sauce — real Italian like my grandmother used to make! The pasta — perfect angel hair al dente!!! The cheese!!! I’m sooo going back!!! I swear, I’d fallen out of love with Italian food until this afternoon! It’s rediscovering my roots!!! I’d give it 7 stars if I could!!!

Nice place, food was good. They have tables wines on the tables for you and charge by either the glass or bottle, not sure. That was a nice touch. The restaurant itself was nice but it wasn’t exceptional.

Worth it! Had a small wait for a weekend night but managed to get drinks at the bar. Wine was served in individual carafes and bartender made an excellent dirty martini. At table, we were warmly greeted by waiter and informed of the specials. A new«Americana» menu was explained to us an we started with an order of Buffalo wings and shrimp gonella. The wings were classic, not saucy nor spicy– very tasty. The shrimp was out of this world– wrapped in a blanket of pancetta, served on garlic toast– I wish we got a second helping! For dinner, we ordered the rack of lamb oreganta and a linguini pescatore, a seafood packed pasta dish served in a light tomato sauce. Both meals were flavorful and there was enough left over to take home! We ended our night with cappuccinos and a tartufo. Will definitely be going back with friends! Even though restaurant was busy and we waited a reasonable amount of time for food, waiter was very attentive and manager came to say hello. Impressive!

Went out to dinner Saturday night wait wasn’t to long at all. 4 of us stood near the bar was in the way of everybody and it was to cold to stand out side. Waitress was terrific meet the owner very nice as well the rest of the staff. Table cloth or plastic was old fashion. Food was good just needed a bit more flavor. Over all a good night. I will be back

Oh my goodness! I’ve been on Long Island two weeks now for work. This is the most authentic Italian I’ve eaten outside of the North End of Boston. The lasagna was the best I’ve ever had and my co-worker states the same about his fettuccine Alfredo with chicken! Awesome bread and side salad, as well. Great host, barmaid, and waitress. Because I got our order to go, the waitress saw to it that we had everything we needed to eat in this horrible hotel, but that’s another review I’ll get to later. Go to Pomodorino!

I have been reluctant to write this review of my dinner at Pomodorino because of the disappointing experience and the fact that other Unilocalers rave about this place. To put the experience into few words, We were not happy with the dinner starting with the stale cold bread served to us… I dont want to be critical but my feeling is that I wont go back because there are other similar venues nearby that really try hard and are more deserving of our business.

Omg. Terrible. Loud. Crowded. Service terrible. Nice young waitress but she was overwhelmed. Would not recommend.

Sad to say, the sister location of Pomodorino’s in Seaford closed in the past year or so. I am truly going to miss that place since I started eating there with my family when I was a toddler. The staff was like a second family to me. Silver lining of this story is that I am glad I can still reminisce through the location in Huntington. I believe this is the last one on Long Island(that I know of). This Italian family run restaurant provides a rustic atmosphere that transports you to an Old World Trattoria. The warm colors and family style seating is more than welcoming. As for the food, I’ve never had a bad experience either here or at the old location in Seaford. It’s reasonable and they don’t skimp on the flavor either. Some of my favorites: –Calamari Fritti: Yes, probably one of the more unhealthy dishes on the menu. Crispy and flavorful that goes perfectly with the bitter marinara sauce. –Pizza Margherita: There’s something about brick oven made pizzas that just bring fond memories of my childhood. That fire-roasted taste is superb.(My family always had a pizza stone.) –Rigatoni Alla Norma: Fresh plum tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, rigatoni and diced eggplant… my favorite. –And I know its not on their menu, but they have those sorbets and italian ices inside of frozen fruit. They have orange and lemon which are equally tart and tasty. There’s constantly deals and groupons going around for Pomodorino’s. If you have a love for classic Italian food with a nice ambiance, give this place a shot.

Cozy, accomodating spot for a party of ten. WONDERFUL house wines(both red and white) brought to the table early on, great apps. and toooooo many choices all lead to a wonderful get-together for family and friends. Saw a variety of interesting pizzas, creative pasta dishes, and a salmon dish that looked so fresh, I think it just came from a stream out back! Was only so-so happy with my eggplant rollatini(have had better…) and as usual, there were about three or four other dishes I **wish** I had ordered, but it was a great Sat. night dinner at a reasonable price, and you can’t ask for more than that!

Pomodorino is such a comfortable place, with a cheerful atmosphere. Ideal for lunch or dinner. I’ve been coming here since mid 90s. A good friend cannot come here without ordering the same thing: Linguine Pescatore. Lasagne is excellent if you feel lke that. Pomodorino knows how to sautee fresh spinach as well as brocolli rabe. They cook it on high with some fresh garlic. Since choosing is impossible, and ordering both is overkill… they have always been kind enough to make it with half of each! Thats the way to do it. They blend amazingly well. Don’t go here without letting them do their thing with greens. Also the basic Italian table wine billed by what you consume is always a bit fun. It’s average but just keeps sitting there. easily tempting you to start pouring it. after you have had some it tastes even better… Desert is hard to manage after Italian food, but sharing a tartufo is always good. If they have any fresh fish specials, they have real talent, some of their dishes are Italian but some of the cooks/managment owners are from South America, and they above all know how to cook fish with flavor. Always something good here. Pizza is ok, but I’d try some seafood and or Italian dishes.

Oh, Pomie’s. I can see why there are constantly Groupons and Unilocal offers and everything else for this place. I did like it back in the day(Hauppauge location), so I got the Groupon and figured — why not? I will have to say — the service was truly excellent. The waitress was genuinely nice as was everyone else in the restaurant. And this is much appreciated. Plus, they give you bread — and that was your typical Italian bread. Then came the meals. He ordered the marghertia pie and I got the salmon so we could do splitsies. We both looked at the pizza… umm…what? Let me state that, for the record, I am Italian. My BF is not. But even HE knows that this pie wasn’t anything close to margherita. Margherita = saucy, some fresh mozz, and basil on top. Margherita. This looked like plain pizza(Neapolitan). See pictures for reference. Because he’s the shy one, he made me ask the waitress. «Excuse me, I believe there may be a mistake. We ordered the marghertia pie, and, um… is this it?» Indeed it was children, indeed it was. If we wanted the regular pizza, we would have ordered regular pizza. Disappointing. It wouldn’t have been so bad if the pizza was actually good pizza. But, I mean,(and I really REALLY hate to say it), this pizza was on par with Chuck E Cheese’s pizza. Remember Friday school lunch as an elementary kid? Lunch lady Olga served up similar fare. And at an Italian place, your pizza better be good. It’s an Italian place! I’d expect this at a diner or something, but not here. Saying that, the salmon was okay. And looking around I saw other dishes like ravioli that looked good. If there is a next time, I’d probably go for a pasta dish. I noticed a lot of families, and I guess if you have kids and stuff this would be a good place to go. The bathroom was nice, very clean and smelled of cinnamon. And you can learn Italian while in there. «Dovè la biblioteca? Dovè la biblioteca?»
