So my first I came here with my colleagues from BCBG, I thought this place was a strip club. This place is really hidden. Parking is free but you have to come before rush hour(lunch) to get a good spot. I came recently before rush hour with my coworker and ordered chicken pesto panini, garlic fries and a drink. It is a must to get garlic fries. Highly recommend because you could smell the garlic once it comes out. Sorry for not taking a picture but I was too hungry and couldn’t wait They accept both cash and card. There is a refrigerator of drinks but you have to pay. Overall with my friend and I getting 2 sandwiches, fries and 2 drinks came up to $ 20. I work in the arts district and it’s hard to find deli’s around there, it was refreshing to eat the sandwiches from here. My next thing I want to try is there big breakfast burrito, heard that it’s under $ 7.00. It’s hard to find cheap food in the arts district. This place is refreshing to go to.

I found this place through my coworkers. They have fantastic panini sandwiches and salads, but the most delicious item on their menu are the garlic fries! Oh my goodness, everyone I work with agrees, it’s pretty bomb! They are really quick with having your order ready after you call it in. I would say within 10 – 15 minutes is the time they usually quote me when I call in for my lunch order. I’ve tried many of their sandwiches and they are all good. The ones I would recommend are the French Dip Sandwich which domes with hot pastrami with melted swiss cheese and thousand island dressing on rye. Their Tuna Salad sandwich is also a great choice! They make their tuna in house and its like crack, so freakin good! The lady who works there is also very nice, her name is Reyna. She’s the one who usually takes the orders. If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely stop by to give it a try!

You already know I had to come back. I have had the Chinese and Caesar salad since the last time I’ve been here. Both were great. Get the chicken grilled it’s much better than regular. Both salads were fresh and well worth it. The place still needs to update their interior. They have plenty of fridges that they don’t even use.

I ordered the pesto chicken panini and a bag of chips, total was a bit under $ 8. As for the panini, it was too buttery for my liking. If I go back it would be to try their other menu items. Price was fair, but food was a bit bland other than the butter on my bread

This place is wonderful. The food is always great quality, fairly priced, and great recipes, and comes out quickly. It is always very clean, too, despite being busy. They do have limited hours(given the industrial neighborhood it makes sense) and because it is a small neighborhood deli they do run out of things near the end of the day(2pm). If you set these expectations and are flexible with your order when they run low then you will never be disappointed. Best wholesome not-fast food value in Vernon/Huntington Park.

The food i would give 4 stars but the service gets 2 stars. Sorry to say as great as their food is their customer service is terrible. I called in around 1 for pick up at 1:15−1:20 when i got there at 1:25 my food was NOT Done, my order was not completed and i only had a few minutes for lunch that i didn’t even bother to go back for the rest of my food. i didn’t get my Garlic fries or my lemonade like i asked and PAID for. My friend recommended this place, but i think the customer service out weighs the food. Not a Happy first experience. Hope you have a better one!

A few coworkers recommended that I try this place, and they did not steer me wrong. I’ve been here three times and I am in love with their chicken pesto panini. It’s a little steep, but worth every penny. I still need to try their roast beef panini. It’s better to call ahead a pick up order, if you’re on lunch. The wait time is about 10 minutes, if you walk in. It’s a small little place in the middle of manufacturers and other buildings. I told my boss about it, and he loved it too.

Great taste hidden on a little street and fresh ingredients stacked high. Staff are helpful and really nice. Inside is super clean with plenty of space to sit plus a out door seating. Highly recommend.

Their sandwiches are great! The location is modest and the menu small, yet executed really well. The dining area is kept clean and also has an outside patio. The counter staff has always been inviting and friendly, even when they get super busy during lunchtime. The Chicken Pesto Panini and the Grilled Cheese(add tomato & Bacon) are my two favorite new bad habits. They also have a great drink selection, better than most convenience stores. 5 Star is a tasty and consistent sandwich spot in the warehouse district of Huntington Park.

Honestly, I’m not quite sure why I haven’t reviewed this place yet. I truly love their sandwiches. The hardest thing to do is, choose a sandwich! So far, I’ve tried the Club, the Pesto Panini, and the Italian, but only because I like these so much that I can’t make myself try anything different. OH! Please don’t forget to try their garlic fries, I’ve had some with every order since first tasting them. The flavors on these sandwiches are balanced so well, I’ve never had one have to little or excess of any one item. I do have to say though, that my favorite part is the pickle that comes with every sandwich, yum! Don’t hesitate to try this place, just because of the location its in, like I did. You wont regret the, for me, short drive into the Industrial streets of Vernon. You won’t regret it. The 5 Star Deli is by far one of my favorite Lunch places near work. It’s always nice to have a tasty option when you are over all the same fast food options that are available in the Los Angeles/Huntington Park/Vernon area. Gotta go, my order is waiting…

This place is more convenient than anything. It’s probably a minute drive from my work 5 minute walk… so it’s great because it’s so close for me The menu is very basic you got sandwiches and pre-made salads. No fountain drinks just bottled drinks which I guess can be a good thing? The food is alright. I recommend their paninis if you’re really hungry. Their salads are severely lacking in taste tho. This is not a place I recommend to come with friends… come on ur lunch break the service is fast and you’ll be in and out in no time

Working in huntington park there aren’t many options for lunch. I accidentally drove by this place and decided to stop by. I tried their chicken pesto panini and was pleasantly surprised. I also ordered a side of fries and as I waited for my food the cook asked if I wanted to try a sample of their garlic fries so he gave me a small portion of them for free which was awesome! The taste was reasonable and better than any other sandwich place around this area. The cost for the sandwich alone is a bit overpriced but I will definitely be back to try their salads and other sandwiches.

When I first heard about this place, I didn’t think I would love the sandwiches so much. Situated in the middle of nowhere(looks like one of those industrial places you drive through in video games), this place is literally a gem in the rough. Came here with co-workers and the sandwiches are around ~8 bucks. I went with the Veggie with Avocado. O M G, I don’t believe I’m saying this about a veggie sandwich, but it was delicious. Roasted peppers, crisp cucumbers, a small medley of greens(nothing too fancy), mild saltiness from the not so heavy, but rather enhancing cheese(I normally don’t prefer cheese), and just enough kick from the mayo mix to add that bite to the end of the bite. My co-workers got the roast beef and the other got a grilled cheese and they loved it so much that we decided as a group to boycott subway. We are actually going again today! 4 stars for sure, 5 stars if they could stay open longer(They close at 2 but you can probably sneak in by 2:15 and get something).

I ordered the chicken pesto panini for take out and just finished eating it. The pesto was good, the bread was just right, however, the chicken was dry. The sandwich was priced at $ 7.30 which is a bit pricey for dry chicken, which drops it down from 5 to 3 stars.

I saw sandwich… and I consumed. No mercy on the sandwiches !! I see nothing wrong with this place… 5 stars. It’s not fancy… its not cool… but its got the BEST sandwiches this side of the Lincoln Tunnel. Yah… a New York reference… whatever. I’ve been 2 times and I got the same Chicken Panini… and my work mates all loved their sandwiches too. Get the meal deal… like $ 7 for a big ‘Wich with chip and drink… and ANY drink… you can get a big olé 24 ounce fancy can o Tasty Tea with that… great deal ! It’s the best place… in all of Huntington Park. All of it. Mean it. Be there.

5 Star Deli, You are 5 stars in terms of quality, but 4 stars in terms of quantity. So I’d say you are a 4.5. 5 things I’d like to note about this place: (1) Their Chicken Pesto Panini and Roast Beef are must tries. The chicken was juicy and tender and the pesto added the extra kick. The Roast Beef, on the other hand, was much more cheesy and each bite was a melt in your mouth. The sandwiches come with pickles on the side. Sandwiches were priced between $ 6 – 8, a little pricey for its size, but it’s worth it. (2) Their location is a bit confusing since we would consider this place a hidden gem! You wouldn’t be able to find this place unless you Unilocaled it. it’s hidden in the outskirts of Vernon & Huntington Park, surrounded by random buildings and warehouses. The place looks deserted, but don’t be fooled! (3) Their menu was simple yet delightful, offering customers the choice of sandwiches, paninis and salads. I like simple! (4) PERFECT and I’ll say it again: PERFECT lunch spot with your COWORKERS! I mean come on, no one would come to the outskirts of an industrial city just to get some FIVE star deli. Let’s be real here. (5) Because this deli shop is isolated from other restaurants, you get a nice relaxing feel here, knowing that you’re away from work and all related concerns.
