Wow, really impressed with the sloppy tuna wasabi slider and salmon breakfast bagel. There were a ton of delicious, fresh veggies on the slider. As for the bagel — nicely soft cooked over easy egg and a delicious bagel, exceptionally good and perfectly toasted. I also really like their support of sustainable seafood. And their portions are perfect and they are reasonably priced. I will definitely eat there again.

After reading my review, Chef Andrew G contacted me and offered me a ‘redo’. I didn’t expect it and really appreciated his openness and friendliness. I managed to go down to Fullerton(Best Buy Parking Lot) today and met him personally. After talking to him, I have a new admiration for him and his crew. They are dedicated and passionate about creating seafood that is fresh, delicious, and yet affordable. In addition to the Lobsticle and Crab&Brie Grilled Melt I’ve already tried before, I also tried the famous Lobster Grinder and Grilled Tomato . I enjoyed everything I had today and so did my fiancé.
It is refreshing to know that you can eat at a truck but get fresh and healthy food at very reasonable price. If you haven’t tried them, look them up on the website for a location near you and give them a try.

3.5 stars. I love that this truck serves sustainable seafood! Slapfish was parked outside the OC Wine Mart on Saturday serving up some good eats during the OC Wine Mart’s Macaron Launch party. Great concept and delicious food. I ordered the fish taco($ 4) which was pretty tasty. I also ordered a Mexican Coke($ 3). I’m usually not a fan of lobster so I stuck to fish. The Hake was cooked nicely on a flour tortilla, topped with salsa verde, tomato, cabbage, cilantro, and a secret sauce, but I sprinkled on some hot sauce too. Overall, it was good. Drew M. ordered the tuna wasabi sliders and was disappointed that the tuna was overcooked. It was way too done because there wasn’t any pinkness left. I had a bite and found that the toasted sesame buns were nice and soft, but the flavor was seriously lacking. It barely hinted of wasabi or any spice. Service was speedy and the staff was nice.

Chance is always powerful. Let your hook always be cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be fish– Ovid A solid four stars for this local favorite. Slapfish describes itself as: «Devoutly sustainable, this previously unimagined hybrid of a cuisine proves that seafood can be fresh, healthy, fun and affordable». That would definitely describe the meal I had at the OC Wine Mart event on Saturday. Ordered three items: the lobsticle, crab brie grilled cheese and shrimp/lobster quesadilla. The lobsticle tasted very fresh and flavorful. fun and easy to peal and eat. NIce sauce… my favorite item though was the Crab Brie Grilled Cheese. Absolutely motherf@%^$*&ing delicious! Bread, cheese, sauce, seafood all coalesced marvelously into a savory, robust sandwich that was to die for. Nicely done! The quesadilla was mediocre, just blah with a meh sauce and not very interesting filling. But the other two items more than made up for it! I will definitely be looking for this truck again especially if they have that grilled cheese sandwich!

Excited I got to try Slapfish Truck while attending a macaron event at the OC Wine Mart and Tasting Bar. I have heard so much about the famous Slapfish lobsticle, I had to order one of those. It is half of a lobster tail that is grilled and topped with chipotle aioli, vinaigrette and chives. I was perplexed about how to eat the thing and my thoughtful BF went out to the truck and took a picture of eating instructions at the truck on his phone. Well, it was a little harder than I anticipated to get the shell off the tail and a little messy, but boy, was it worth it. The lobster was grilled perfectly and very flavorful! Just delicious! The pickled veggies and tangy slaw that came with it were a nice touch also. BF got the Major Crunchy fish sandwich and polished it off readily. So many great things on their menu like fish tacos and shrimp and lobster quesadillas. I am going to have to seek this truck out again to try some other yummy seafood offerings :)

I wasn’t sure about this truck but after trying them, I’m sold! My favorite was the Lobsticle — I could eat a dozen of these but then I’ll be broke — and these beautifully tender lobster tails are served on a stick with a lovely chipotle aioli sauce. We were taught to peel the shell from top to bottom and then enjoy. I also tried the Lobster Grinder — I liked the filling but together with the bun I felt needed a little extra seasonings, like salt, as it gets a little lost with the bun. The fish taco was incredibly moist and I really enjoyed the numerous textures you get in one bite. Again, needed a touch more salt(for me) but it was pretty damn good. I am looking forward to trying more things off this truck soon.

Perfect food truck for the seafood lover… I got the opportunity to try this food truck at the food truck festival in huntington beach. we ordered the following, along with a description: lobsticles– a lobster tail cut in half on stick. served with pickled veggies. pretty good. the tails are small but delicious. $ 8 lobster & shrimp & crab quesadilla– tiny but really good. topped with some mayo sauce and served with salsa. $ 4 crab & brie grilled sandwich– delicious. made with sourdough bread. my personal favorite. $ 6 crunchy fish sandwich– fried fish with potato chips inside. made with sourdough bread. I thought it was pretty dry. My choice of menu item to skip. $ 7 Everything was pretty good. I thought we could have skipped the crunchy fish sandwich. It didnt really do anything for me. My favorite was the crab & brie sandwich. Overall, the price isnt bad for what you get. The portions are very small. I love that they have a little stand with different hot sauces outside for you to flavor your food. I would definitely get their food again.

[EDIT: I’m bumping up my stars from 4 to 5 because I like the chef’s informative reply below. I still don’t think I had a «true lobster», but his comment can help you decide on your own.] I had a chance to catch up with Slapfish at Forest Lanes the other night and I thought it was fantastic. The Lobsticle($ 8) was perfectly made, tender and flavorful. In addition to that I had the Spicy Lobster & Shrimp quesadilla($ 4), which really wasn’t that spicy. But, it was still very enjoyable. The missing star is for a couple of things. Firstly, as good as they both were, I don’t think there was any lobster in the items I got, but most likely they were langostino: Which may or may not constitute fraud, I’m not sure. Rubios & Long John Silver got into a legal mess over the same issue. Again, it still tasted very good, but they should get the terms right … especially for those who know their seafood. Secondly, the portion sizes were a bit scant for the price. If I’m going to spend $ 12 on a food truck, I’d like it to be a bit more filling than what I got. Otherwise, despite these misgivings, Slapfish is a solid 4 stars in my book for flavor and execution.

OMG! Lobster tail on a stick, why didn’t I think of that?! I first came across Slapfish at the Anaheim Ice parking lot, but I was there late and they already closed up shop. However, I found out they were gonna be close to home this past Thursday in Los Alamitos, so I made sure to be there on time. I was really impressed with their lobsticle. I didn’t care for the pickled veggies though. I loved the sauce that was brushed on top. Yum! I can’t wait to have it again this week! I also tried their clobster cake and carlsbadboy oyster. Both were just ok. I want a bigger oyster next time, mine was like a midget.

I’m always a sucker when it comes to seafood. It’s probably the first thing I’ll try on the menu at a restaurant. The same applies for a food truck. I’ve been hearing about this skinny-lobster-meat-on-a-stick and had to try it for myself. Slapfish normally makes its rounds in the OC area, so it wasn’t a surprise when I saw them at this year’s OC Foodie Fest. My wife and I each had one«lobsticle,» half of a pan grilled lobster tail slathered with chipotle aioli and champagne vinaigrette. While the lobster meat was tender and not chewy at all, I didn’t taste any of the sweetness from the meat. I felt the flavor from the meat didn’t really shine through, and the sauce overpowered everything. If they simply brushed the lobsticle with some butter, I would’ve been happy with that. Or perhaps give the option of the dipping sauce or aioli on the side, and let the customer control the amount of flavor directly on the lobster tail. The accompanying pickled vegetables was a nice touch, and gave a crunchy contrast to the lobster tail.

Lobster on a Stick. Who does this? Slapfish does. And its Yuuuuuummy! A co-worker and I headed over after work and enjoyed Lobsticles(half of a small steamed lobster tail on a stick) and Fish Taco’s. The Lobsticles tasted fresh and the texture was perfect. It was served with a savory garlicy chipotle aioli sauce that just added the right amount of kick. Served with a side of slightly sweet slaw, it matched the tails perfectly. Fish Taco’s were delicious. The seabass was juicy and tasty. Not too salty, either. The sauce was buttery and light. I could eat these all day long. Three lobsticles and two fish tacos set us back $ 29. It seemed a bit pricey, but hey… it’s lobster. Not someplace you go if you’re hungry, it’ll cost you to fill up. But it’s definitely a place to taste some fantastic seafood. Can’t wait to try their«Major Crunchy»(fish sandwich).

The first time I heard about the Slapfish Truck was at the Munchathon event on July 16th. I didn’t get a chance to try it though until the Farm to Food Truck Challenge event at the SOCO Farmer’s Market on July 23rd. I’m definitely glad I got the chance to though! I wasn’t sure of what to get, but a few of my friends had told me to try the lobsticle — «a half of a pan-grilled lobster tail topped with chipotle aioli, champagne vinaigrette and fresh chives» that’s served on a skewer. I didn’t. Haha. While I was waiting in a line with about 3 people in front of me(the crowd waiting for order pick up seemed a lot longer though), I got the chance to look at the menu and I seriously could not decide on what to get! Everything looked delicious! I stood there like, «I’m going to get that. No, I want that… No, fuck! Dunno what I want!» Haha, I ended up getting the lobster«PBLT» slider though and sticking with it because by the time I decided it was already my turn. The man who took my order, I’m pretty sure was the owner, was really nice. He actually asked me if I could wait a minute longer because the crew cooking was working on the stuff for the competition. I didn’t mind though. He promptly took my order though once he could, which only cost 5 bucks! Waiting for my order wasn’t actually too bad — probably like 5 minutes. I was really surprised to see that they put like extra sides on the side of my slider — like lettuce, cucumber slice and carrots. Anyways, the slider was sorta on the small side, but it made up its size in height because it was filled with lobster(which was soaked in this amazing sweet sauce that I can’t even describe), tomato and pork belly. So yea, I’m a fan of this food truck — cheap prices and delicious food. Definitely gonna go follow it on FB/Twitter now so I can find out when and where it’ll be next. I’ll definitely have to try the lobsticle next time.

Diggin this truck! Met a very handsome gentleman from South Africa who, after i mentioned my low carb diet, recommended the spicy seafood grinder on a bed of lettuce. Not sure if he is the owner, but he was very gracious. Not too shabby for five bucks! Very flavorful little seafood salad – tasty and filling. Will definitely swing by again in the future… lobsicle next time! :)

The Slapfish Truck decided to make an appearance at the OC Great Park’s «Growing the Park» community festival… and I’m absolutely glad that it did. I think this was one of the very few times that I actually wanted to try EVERYTHING on a particular food truck’s menu. Most of the time, there are one or two(or more) items that don’t appeal to me, but this time the usual pattern was broken. I ordered a lobster grinder and my friend decided to get a lobster quesadilla. We ended up splitting a tower of tuna later because we were still a bit hungry… but once again, I could have eaten everything from this truck. Slapfish, you are a wonderful food truck. One of my favorites so far, in fact. All the seafood here is painfully fresh and the various combinations of ingredients used, ranging from cucumbers to pumpkin seeds, are just as fresh and delightfully tasty. In conclusion, this place is fantastic. You need to try it as soon as possible!

This truck really stands out. They did a great job with making the truck look well presented. They were at the SOCO mart today and they actually had the busiest truck while I was there. It’s a truck with mostly seafood items. The menu looked fun with creative items. I tried the truffle lobster quesadilla and the lobster grinder. You can’t really go wrong with anything truffle. The lobster in the cheese blended in nicely. It didn’t taste too fishy here and the dipping salsa made it even better. I’m not a fan of seafood but this was really good. The lobster grinder seems to be the most popular dish on the truck. It was sort of like a tuna salad except with lobster and shrimp. This was good but the bread wasn’t too great on it. i really liked the presentation on this truck and would recommend it to seafood fans. Recommendation: Lobster grinder and Truffle Lobster Quesadilla

Lobster + Stick = Lobsicle In theory, this sounds like a vile combination. In actuality, I want to eat myself out of a barrel full of the sauce that the coat the lobster in. I tried this seafood goodness at the IE Food Fest. I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit hesitant about the thought of eating seafood out of a food truck. But lobster on a stick — my stomache won that debate. For 11 bucks(I think it is normally $ 12) the best gal and I each got a lobsicle. The portion was perfect — I am pretty sure each sicle has half a lobster tail. The lobster is smothered in this spicy, savory — just freaking delicious sauce. Some amazing cucumber/pickle/jalepeno condiment is served on the side. Gah, it really is freaking amazing. Six bucks for lobster? I’ll be hunting you down in the near future, Slapfish! Did I mention that they are all about sustainability? I love when I can get my nom on with a clear conscience!

I am really excited that there’s a food truck in OC serving sustainable seafood! I tried the Lobsticle, mostly because I just couldn’t resist the name, plus it’s lobster! The lobsticle is half a steamed lobster tail served on a stick with chipotle aioli sauce. It was accompanied by some spicy pickled vegetables. The lobster meat was tender and went really well with the sauce. I’ll definitely be back to the Slapfish Truck. Next time I want to try the Lobster Grinder and the fish tacos.

I heard about SlapFish truck on twitter via Piaggonwheels’ RT. I was first enticed by the name and then completely sold when I found out it was sustainable seafood(yay earth!) I found out they were going to be at the Los Al Picnic and busted a mission down there with some friends. I ordered the: Lobsticle — MMMMM. This is their signature. Must try! It had some kind of sauce on it but it was complementing rather than overpowering. Major Crunchy Sandwich — This was definitely MAJOR. The portions were huge! So genius! Some kind of fish(yummy and flaky) with POTATOCHIPS(never had this in my sandwich before but I like!). Slap.Cut.something aka Sweet potato fries — sorry, I can’t remember the awesomely creative name but, I seriously don’t eat sweet potato fries. But, I actually ate these. They were delicious. A little soggy but understandably so — they’re super fresh! Sustainable. Delicious. LARGE portions. It can’t get any better! I will be back to try the Lobster Grinder and Tower of Tuna! And I will definitely bring some more friends with me :)

You might be wondering why I don’t have a truck photo. Apparently, my digicam has recently been acting closed-minded on the big picture, & yet it prefers to focus too much on the littler guys =/. Moving right along… I just had to check out this brand new OC truck that was supposed to be released on the 6th. Yet, it turned out that they wanted to present their less than $ 10 Sustainable Seafood dishes at the new Din Truckin’ at Los Alamitos, just walking distance away from my home(Whoo hoo!!!), during Cinco De Mayo. So far they only have 7 main courses, sweet potato fries, cole slaw, & a few captivating desserts, like the $ 1 Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookie(sorry guys, I wasn’t really in sweets mode =/). The one that caught my eye instantaneously was the topmost item listed – the $ 6 Lobsticles. And you probably might be thinking that they’re in THAT form –___-, but they’re in Popsicle-style. Yet to me they looked more like«Awesomely-coated,» freshly tasty, decently salted & seasoned, fantastically chunky pieces of buttery, skewered lobster yummy-ness, each of them the size of the quintessential yakitori – if you’ve ever eaten a Japanese place that serves these. I tried one bite w/the extremely thinly sliced cucumbers for that uplifting tang & crunch, & then I doused the final skewer w/the seasoned sliced lemon, which meekly bettered the $ 3 remain. The end result was that I finished in the same amount of time a typical roller coaster ride completes its cycle. With that, the 5-minute wait for«Fia/Order #3» and the very friendly, English-accented staff – keep it up, guys: D – it’s 3.5 stars for now, & I’m looking forward trying the other 6 items – oh wait, except oysters – if ever Slapfish enters my ‘hood again. And once more, since I couldn’t provide that crucial picture, look for a [cooked] lobster-red(top), sandy cream(upper sides) & swimming-pool blue(lower sides), boxed truck. ^_^
