Beautiful restaurant with indoor or outdoor seating options! My husband and I decided to sit outside because of the beautiful ocean view from their deck area! Food was great… you can order something from the menu or choose a buffet. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Had dinner on Friday evening and breakfast on Saturday, the difference is night and day literally! Looking over the dinner menu you think you’re buying top notch food but when you taste the food it’ll remind you of high school cafeteria food! For appetizers had Kobe beef meatballs that tasted like microwaved meatballs, nothing«Kobe» about them. Also had mac & cheese with pulled pork which was ok. For dinner we had one of their chicken plates and for $ 24 I would have rather went to Pollo Loco! Very boring, not what you’ll expect from a place like this. Breakfast on the other hand was ok, the eggs benedict were pretty good and the breakfast potatoes were better then average.

Shades has a great range of food cooked to how you’d like it. Their desserts are especially delicious — the peanut butter one was Heaven! Their cocktail menu is small but bar the staff will deviate and make you what you want. I recommend the apple martins. Shades is a great place for lunch too. It’s fully heated so you can eat under the stars all year round. They also have lovely fire pits to sit around.

This is a great place to get a cocktail. They have a good bar. The ambiance is casual. With a short walk to the beach what more could you ask for. Great bar at the ocean.

Prices are a little higher, as you’d expect from a resort restaurant. The food is decent and and view overlooking the pool and ocean is nice, it is worth eating here at least once if you’re a local. The chef has an herb garden on the patio that they source for many of the dishes served. I will say I found their brunch timing to be a little weird: 11:30−3…uhh isn’t that just regular lunch? Hey Shades! «Brunch» refers to a meal commonly served BETWEEN normal breakfast and lunchtimes! It doesn’t mean«breakfast foods served for lunch»!

We sat outside on the patio. The food was ok at best. They don’t give a 20% locals discount like Watertable next door at the Hyatt does. I don’t think we’ll ever return for another meal. I also wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. There are so many better places to dine at in HB. They really need to remodel the entire place too.

The brunch is way over price for the options. The crab-legs and sushi saved the day for me.

Stopped in for a quick burger after settling into my room. I will say I was very surprised when it came out… I think the kitchen must have hit the farmers market to make this one! The patty was OK, not fresh ground but that was not the focus of this burger. It had lettuce, tomatoes, a spread, mushrooms, these little seed things in another spread and a fresh toasted bun… I asked for bacon and cheese which were also on it and am assuming at least the cheese would also have been on if I has not asked for it. There was a lot o’ flavor going on along with some serious napkin action. Even with a frozen patty this was tasty. The service was fantastic as well. Good spot to stop for sure.

Prime rib dinner 30 with 20% off? Yes it was good and so was the wine and dessert. Great place if you stay at the Hilton.

3 stars just based on food quality! Service was great! Erin our server was really pleasant and very helpful! If you’re looking for a fast meal that’s not fast food quality you’re good here!

I went to this place for brunch buffet on sunday a month ago. They do have variety of food selection. They generally tasted good and have excellent carved roast beef and omelette station. Crab was big and meaty. Although I did enjoy the food, i felt it was sort of over priced since I have been other sunday brunch buffet which had more selection of food yet cheaper. However, considering its location of being at the beach area, others may not feel that way. I think this place is worth trying :).

Food: we came here for Sunday brunch and were disappointed with what they had. It’s a very limited selection for the crowd size they cater towards compared with other hotels. There is an omelette bar, about 4 – 5 hot dishes, a table of appetisers, and a few desserts. It was standard American fare without too many deviations but absolutely not worth the price we paid. We were a little surprised that there was so little food to be spread out amongst the guests and often had to wait in a long queue to get our plates. Service: friendly, capable, and cheerful servers. We had no issues with them, they frequently cleared our table and checked in often. Hostesses were also very nice. I can’t say the same about the other staff, particularly the omelette cook. He was unapproachable, gruff, and constantly made mistakes in each omelette order including ours — we didn’t even ask for a complicated one and he botched it. Ambiance: the outside patio offers a beautiful view of the ocean and is well shaded with plenty of umbrellas. The music was distinctly Caribbean and made us feel like we were there. In conclusion, the Shades restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and provides generally good service but the low quality of their food negatively impacted our visit and we are not keen on returning.

3.5 stars. Located at the Hilton Waterfront Hotel on PCH in Huntington Beach, as Hilton Honors Gold members, you get free daily breakfast at Shades for Rise & Shine continental buffet($ 15) served 6:30−10am daily. It includes coffee, juices, fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels, and assorted muffins. The other option is to use your voucher for $ 15 towards room service but you have to pay a three dollar delivery fee plus tax. Shades is a better deal because you have zero out-of-pocket expense. On its own, I personally don’t think it’s worth $ 15 per person. Service was good, there was no wait around 9am in a Sunday, and they had outdoor seating

Had dinner on the patio, warm summer evening with friends. My wife and I had the Rubbed Salmon and think it was one of the best pieces of Salmon we have ever had.

It’s like a little bit of Vegas buffet wonderland in this waterfront Hilton hotel in HB. Actually I felt like I was in tropical paradise here. Came here for brunch and bottomless mimosas/champagne during Vday weekend. THEFOOD. THEATMOSPHERE. THEDRINKS. FIVESTARS. The foood was sooo good. So limitless. So happy. They had a sushi bar table with rolls and nigiri. The fish was so fresh melt in your mouth, mouthwatering good. The salmon sashimi was the best. All the food was quality fresh. There was an omelette bar, waffle bar, a chef cutting your steak(steak was all right for me cause I was saving my stomach for the seafood) Did I mention the seafood? Jumbo shrimp galore. Fresh juicy scrumptious. I had so many. And the King crab legs. They were probably on the same level as Bachannal. There were even main course dishes to choose from including sword fish and other things I didn’t get to cause I ate so much seafood. The atmosphere was great. The weather was gorgeous. We sat outdoors and there was someone playing the steel silver drums whatever they were called. I felt like I was in Cancun or hawaii or something. Somewhere in paradise where life was carefree and I can drink as many mimosas as I want. Lots of mimosas. Cranberry and orange juice were my fav. Pineapple was not so good. It went so well with their delectable desserts. They were all so good. My favorite was probably the lemon meringue cream puff. So much goodness in one little bite of creamy pastry puffness. Mimosas till 3 or 4 pm. Service was outstanding. Ok I’m done.

Shades Restaurant is located inside the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort Hotel. Had a quick lunch in here one day in the bar area — ordered a Cobb salad and water. Salad came out relatively quickly. Seemed a tad light on the ingredients, other than the lettuce. It needed more of the other vegetables — and some others added in that are not currently part of their offering to make it more interesting. The salad needed more bacon as well. Service was prompt!

I love brunch! Breakfast is the most important meal, and my favorite meal of the day! Brunch here is really fun and relaxing. The ambiance makes you feel like it is truely a sunday to eat, sun bathe and relax. The music playing is live with a bahama feel. We wanted to be seated outside where we could see the clear ocean view along the pool side. There was bottomless mimosas and a ton of great food. The selection was great, the shrimp cocktails were my favorite along with the crab legs. the shrimps were BIG, cold, and fresh! I had coffee after my meal, which i almost always do now. and their coffee is really good. other food they had — cheese plate — fruits(strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, grapes, pineapple, raspberries, blackberries, oranges, tangerines) — ceviche — fresh shrimp cocktail — snow crab legs(bigger than expected) — fruit salad, Cesar salad, spinach salad — yellowtail sushi, salmon sushi — sushi rolls — eel sahhimi, yellowtail sashimi — eggs benedicts — bacon sausage toast potato rounds — grilled fish — omelet station — roast beef — chocolate cake — red velvet cake — eclairs — tiramisu — cereal pudding — raspberry cheesecake — mexican flan service was always around and helpful. consistently filling up your drinks/waters and clearing out your table This place is a bit pricey and make sure you book reservations in advance. Have some cash change for valet.

I came here for lunch with my mom last weekend. I made a reservation for 1pm on a Saturday and the place was not crowded… It’s getting to be colder in so cal this month but we still sat outside. I ordered the caprese sandwich with added prosciutto($ 17). It came with french fries. The sandwich was sooo good. It had this really good pesto sauce in it and it felt pretty light for being such a big sandwich. Highly recommend this one! The french fries were really crispy and seasoned. My mom ordered the fish tacos and liked them as well. The service was pretty good, a little slow at times, but overall the experience was nice. Make sure to get your valet parking ticket validated in the restaurant. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice lunch outside with a beautiful view.

We came back to the Waterfront resort and ate at shades restaurant. It was actually our 3rd time at the venue. We’ve had the breakfast buffet before and also ordered breakfast on our latest visit. The surf benedict and the turf benedict were both delicious. The crab was fresh, and the meat was very tender. Since we were staying at the hotel, we opted to eat at shades since it was conveniently attached to the hotel and also because of the amazing beach view. You can dine on the patio and enjoy the beach front brunch. Quick service and would definitely come back if we were staying at the hotel again.

Simple menu with outstanding food. Came for lunch with our dog. Large pittbull. And they seated us in the patio and even brought our pup a dog bowl. Great service all around. I love restaurants who have wonderful food and amazing service. Thank you Shades for be great to us and our dog. Will definitely come back again and again.
