This place has been going down significantly. For the last 2 times i visit, they sat me without knowing if there are any server there. Once they gave me food, there are no utility to eat it with. No chopstick, no napkins. The server didnt even show up, the drink guy have to come out and serve. They dont come by and check on you at all. Might as well just close the store cause this is embarassing.

Bill was cheap= best part …Beers less than $ 4… Service was horrible! Hostess was nice but the waitress was no where to be found and didn’t bring anyone chopsticks or napkins at our table or the table near us Octopus appetizer was laughable for how small it was and expensive it still was. Wouldn’t recommend ever. Alaska roll had cooked salmon on top… Next time I would ask for uncooked salmon. Sashimi was good though

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. It was my second and last time here. I came here with my mom mid-afternoon when it wasn’t busy, so we were surprised when our service was so horrible. I wish I remembered our servers name, but she initially had an attitude. The manager and our server knew something happened to our order when they realized we hadn’t received our food yet. On top of that, the manager asked us if we had paid for our bill already so it had to do with our waitress and perhaps another since they were speaking to another waitress as well about what happened to our food and who had paid for what… It was all super weird and unprofessional. I’m usually really laid back about stuff like this, I understand mistakes happen but what bothered us was that there was no apology and they acted as if nothing happened. Usually when something like this happens, the manager and waitress apologize and even take an item off of the menu. Our waitress continued with her nose in the air and they completely ignored the fact that we waited 20 min for our food to come out… Overall, not only was the service the most horrible service I’ve ever experienced, but sadly the food wasn’t even good. Seriously, go somewhere else.

We came hear for dinner post movie on Memorial Day. The Good: There was plenty of seating available so we were seated immediately. It was happy hour so we ordered many small dishes to share. Our drinks were refilled promptly and the food came out fast. The crispy chicken wings were delicious and so was the asparagus garlic sushi roll. We had a 2nd roll that was ok. I’ll be honest I can’t remember what it’s name was but it was cut uneven. Some pieces very big and some looked like slivers. I should have taken a photo. It still tasted good. The Bad: We ordered spicy vegetable ramen to share. It was nice of them to put into 2 bowls for us but the noodles were not edible. They were hard to chew through. We were told the consistency was due to them being«potato noodles». We also ordered calamari which was over cooked quite a bit. It is meant to be chewy but both myself and eating companion struggled to consume it. Resolved: They brought us out fresh bowls of soup with possibly a different type of noodle and those tasted great! The broth was spicy and flavorful. The calamari we told the waitress about but did not ask for replacements since we already complained about the ramen. Overall: The service has improved since our last visit. The staff was very friendly. We were happy with at least half our meal. My hope is that they improve the food quality for next time. But I will definitely come back.

Whenever I go to Kabuki, it’s almost always during their happy hour. I’ve tried some of Kabuki’s regular menu items before(ramen, beef plates, etc.), but they don’t compare to the HH items and prices. The appetizers and rolls during HH are only slightly cheaper($ 1 – 2 off) but it’s still a good deal. Food: Calamari Rings — Comes with two dipping sauces: wasabi mayo and spicy teriyaki, according to the menu. The sauces weren’t spicy in the slightest however, but that’s not a problem. The calamari is breaded pretty well. Overall, it’s about average for calamari. Sesame Chicken — A good amount of chicken for the price. The flavor of the marinate works very well with the chicken and the teriyaki sauce they provide. If you want something besides seafood in your meal, this is a pretty good option, and easily shareable between a small group. Salmon Sushi — Salmon nigiri, comes with 2 pieces. They come with a bit of lemon too, which is a nice touch. Even during Happy Hour, I still think the price for 2 pieces of nigiri is a little too high. The quality of the fish is good and fresh though. Baja Roll — An interesting mix of sushi and salsa. The roll is similar to a California roll, but with spicy imitation crab meat(lots of it). The topping of the sushi is a slightly spicy mix of tomatoes, onions, krab meat, and cilantro. It’s a little plain, but I think it works pretty well. One of my favorite rolls. California Tempura Roll — Essentially a California Roll that’s deep fried to a golden finish. The crunchy batter adds a nice touch to a plain roll. It comes with 8 pieces, rather than the 6 of most of the specialty rolls. Served with eel sauce. There’s just something magical about deep fried rolls and eel sauce. Asparagus & Salmon Garlic Crunch Roll — Hooo boy, my favorite roll on the HH menu. It’s such an interesting combination. The inside of the roll is full of asparagus, while the outside is wrapped in salmon. It’s finally topped with a spicy sauce similar to sriracha, but with crunchy bits of garlic in it. The taste and crunchy texture of all the parts make this roll very interesting and tasty. The sesame dipping sauce it comes with is very light, and doesn’t add too much to the roll. Vegas Roll — A giant hunk of a roll. It’s like a giant fancy Philadelphia roll that’s deep fried to perfection. There is a good portion of salmon and cream cheese in the roll, and the way it’s fried isn’t overwhelming. This is one of my go-to rolls, and most people I go to Kabuki with generally love this roll. Definitely try. Overall, Kabuki is a pretty standard sushi chain. It’s not mind-blowing or anything, but it’s a solid choice when you’re feeling in a sushi mood. Just try to go during happy hour!

I used to love coming to kabuki for sushi. But, ever since the menu changed so did the quality of food. It is now bland, no flavor. Ordered the calamari, it was hard and not edible at all! Even the spicy tuna was bland and poor quality. The dragon roll is ok and the salmon, yellowtail and albacore sashimi is a hit or miss. Rated it 2 stars since service is always good, hopefully the food gets better!

Joon(Manager) is awesome and professional, took care of us when our order was wrong. He should be commended for a job well done. Thanks, Joon! Laura was our server and was attentive and personable. This restaurant never disappoints. Thanks Laura and Joon. We will definitely be back!

Nice atmosphere, great staff and incredible sushi! We ordered several different rolls, sushi, etc… and everything was great. The wait staff were really prompt and made sure we were satisfied throughout the meal. We were here for lunch, around 12:30 on Saturday. It wasn’t crowded so we were sat down right away. The ONLY annoying part was when any group came in for lunch, this guy, who worked there, would walk past our table and scream out something really loud and annoying as he led them to their table. We were towards the front so we got to hear this every time. I don’t remember that happening when they sat us down. Get rid of him and this place is perfect!

Last night was the first time I’ve gone to Kabuki and I was severely disappointed. When my boyfriend and I first got there, it took about ten minutes for a hostess to come seat us. In her defense, it was kind of busy for 9:00 on a Sunday night but that seemed excessive for someone to even see us. I had gone to the restroom immediately after we were seated. Those were the most disgusting restrooms I’ve seen in awhile. There was only one toilet working because one was severely clogged and the other had a girl puking in it. The one working stall had no toilet paper as well. The trashcan was overflowing with paper towels. Safe to say, I only went because it was verging on emergency! My boyfriend also went to the restroom and he said the men’s was just as gross. I ordered the Philadelphia roll and Avocado roll. My boyfriend ordered the teriyaki chicken. I got my rolls first and I was almost done with them by the time he got his chicken. The rice on my rolls seemed stale but otherwise the fish and avocado was ok. I ate his Miso soup and that was tasty. Maybe I’m not sure how edamame is prepared but those suckers were bone cold when we got them. I thought they were steamed? His rice was also cold and his teriyaki chicken was cold. He said they were barely edible. Our waitress Laura was very nice and she made sure our orders were correct but she shorted us a dollar when we paid the bill. We didn’t say anything since it was only a dollar but were annoyed by the end of the dinner.

I’m torn between a 5star review and a 1star review! Kabuki use to be our go to spot… Until they recently changed EVERY item we order from their menu! Why change a good thing? Sesame chicken is now bland Fried tofu is completely different in flavor Tostada trio use to be delicious and fresh tasting but now has fried elements that ruined it Cha shu ramen tastes different and too peppery House salad changed completely Only to mention a few Not only is the food completely changed in flavor but the servers fail to mention this! So we ordered about five dishes to share and they all come out not good?! Very disappointed but HOPING this will change considering kabuki is one of our favorite local restaurants.

Okay, I have to admit, at first I was a bit skeptical and didn’t have high expectations for Kabuki since it’s an Americanized sushi chain. However, the chirashi was such a pleasant surprise. For $ 17.95, the portions were generous, the variety of fish was great(plus tamago, ikura and shrimp) and most importantly — buttery, melt-in-your-mouth fresh. It comes with a soup or salad, and there’s also a bed of spring mix greens that comes with the entrée itself. I barely touched the rice and was still so stuffed. Such a steallll. I’d definitely order it again.

I went here on a Saturday night and it was packed. We ordered the dream boat($ 24/person) and the spicy tuna crunch roll($ 9). The boat was gigantic as always and was better than other locations(chicken wasn’t dry). It came with tempura, teriyaki beef, chicken, short ribs salad, gyoza, CA roll, and salad. The spicy tuna crunch roll was my favorite! It was fresh and spicy! Love their tuna. The highlight had to be the excellent service. Service is usually terrible in LA so this was a great surprise. I”ll definitely be back if I’m in the area. Parking near the restaurants can be a pain so I recommend looking in the structure first.

We are regulars here. This time in my sushi roll there was a black hair, so gross. He brought me another roll — made wrong. Then brought me a third. Said the manager was going to come over — but didn’t. Charged us for it all, which is fine but at least apologize! I know stuff happens — but I prefer when you own it. We will Have to find a new favorite sushi place I guess.

Usually Kabuki is my favorite spot to get cheap and decent sushi during happy hour. My favorites are the Alaskan roll, Vegas roll, sesame chicken appetizer, and tempura fried green tea ice cream. Service is just good. Quality of the food is good, and prices are great(: However, recently they’ve changed and added things to their menu. The tempura ice cream is definitely not the same as it used to be. It would be a giant tempura fried ball of ice cream that wasn’t melted in the middle and had a good ice cream to tempura ratio, drizzled with chocolate, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and garnished with strawberries, blueberries, and a sprig of mint. Now, it’s a ball about 75% the size of the giant one with a small ice cream to tempura ratio, served on a hot skillet(can someone explain that to me? Or is my logic about ice cream on a hot serving platter unreasonable???), with a few berries, powdered sugar, and a side of super matcha-y liquid sauce to drizzle on. It is not as good as before, and it just seems like Kabuki’s sad attempt to create something trendy. Disappointed about that one.

Kabuki is located inside the Bella Terra Shopping Centre, so I recommend that you park either near Whole Foods, and take a little walk or at the back parking lot nearby the movie theatre and Costco, since the lots nearby Barnes and Noble can be slammed during the evening and happy hours. My recommendations at this place: *Spicy tuna crunch roll *Spicy tuna salad(or the salmon skin salad) *Tonkatsu pork loin combo with the vegetable and shrimp tempura The BBQ beef ribs actually taste better than the ones at Kaju Tofu in Garden Grove. The crunch rolls are not mushy, and the spicy tuna on both the rolls and the spicy tuna salad have a little bit of a bite to it, but not too much. I recommend coming here on Sundays or during Happy Hour on M-F from 3pm-6pm.

We went to the movies quite often at the Bella Terra Century theater and this Kabuki was located right next to it. It could be really pricey if you could not make it to the happy hour, which unfortunately ended at 6pm. Yo Kabuki, would you extend it to 7pm like many restaurants around you? We first came here 10 years ago for a family reunion, the booths were very comfortable, the ambiance was classy and we had the love boat, we had it again several times but were disappointed it was no longer on the menu. I uploaded a picture of the last love boat we had 2 years ago, as you could see, it had just about the best items still available in the menu except perhaps the Chilean bass. We were promptly seated and given water and free edamame, that was nice as some other restaurants charged $ 4 for this. I had the very refreshing Tokyo Mojito. I believe it was made with sake, it tasted just as good as the Cuban Mojitos I just recently had on South Beach. I also had the Mai Tai, it was very good but very expensive. So this time we had the following happy hour apps: 1) Gyozas, always delicious with all the nice soy sauces, the ginger, the hot wasabi. 2) Shrimp tempura was flavorful. 3) the Dynamite roll was just DYNAMITE! I can’t wait to go back just for this. 4) the Spicy miso ramen was so flavorful, I was afraid it might taste too strong with a fermented taste but this huge soup was just perfect. They have a lot of udon and ramen and they are all as good as the ones I had in Tokyo, perhaps even better. I had sesame chicken, grilled short ribs on other occasion. I rate this Kabuki a solid 4, I would have rated it a 5 had they still had the«love boat», each time I think about this restaurant, I’M READYTODOTHEKABUKIDANCE! it is always cheerful and fun to watch all the sushi chefs working, busy as bees! surrounded by the beautiful colorful chandelier. Japanese food is healthy and I would come back again to enjoy the food and reminisce about our culinary experience in Tokyo.

Come here for great service and amazing sushi! I’m not a sushi expert but I love the variety they have here! It’s not that expensive considering it is a sit down nice restaurant. There’s complementary edamame also! I would come here for a first date a girls night dinner!

The service is good here, except it can be a little slow. At first I ordered 4 rolls, the first two came out quickly and the last 2 took about another 15 minutes for it to come out. :(After we finished eating, our waiter forgot to check on us. Many waiters passed by but every time I asked for them for something, like for the bill… they would go and find my original waiter. So after I paid and waited for my original waiter to pick up my card it took about another 10 minutes just sitting there. Happy hour is worth it here. I got the alaskan roll, rose roll, gold rush roll, spicy tuna crunch roll and the california roll all for $ 36(w/tax). I order the Alaskan roll at almost every sushi place I go to, and this place definitely has THEBEST Alaskan roll I have ever tasted! It tastes as if they glaze the baked salmon with honey. They also offer free edamame when you dine in here :) ~ one bowl of edamame per 2 customers.
