It used to be Greek family owned so the waiter told us. Got there around 1pm, we were the only table. Food was definitely made the night before, just when you have left overs, and you heat up in the microwave the following day. Honest to God, it was that bad, not worth the money by any stretch of the imagination. Their advertising pictures and description of items are not factual.

We literally walked out it was 100 degrees in there and they have 1 poor server trying to serve 10 tables.

If I were allowed to give this place zero stars, I would, after my family(of 6) and I had the misfortune of eating here. We were really excited to find a groupon deal for this place after a long day at the beach and were starving when we came in. We ordered a large pizza just for the kids, and separate meals for ourselves. Cut to an hour later, literally, we still have no food on the table. Our waitress kept coming by to say«a few more minutes!» but it was a lot longer than a few. To make up for having to wait so long, they brought out corn bread which was a bit dry, and macaroni and cheese which honestly, was awful. My kids LOVE Mac and cheese and all of them refused to eat it. When the pizza finally came, the bottom was still doughy as if it hadn’t been cooked long enough, and our ribs were just sloppily thrown onto the middle of a plate. It was just a mess. We hurried with the food so we could get out of there. Our bill never came after we asked for it, so we waited at the counter for about 10 minutes until we were helped. There were only two other families in the restaurant at this time. Like I said, we had a groupon deal, so our total should’ve been $ 13.29. We were charged $ 53.29 and were told that it was canceled, and were then charged an additional $ 13.29. We left feeling irritated, tired, and extremely unsatisfied. Once we got home, we checked our bank account and noticed that we had two charges from them, for $ 13.29AND $ 53.29. After trying to get ahold of them for hours, we finally reached someone and were told that they had just reversed the charges. After calling our bank, we learned that was not true. It’s been a few days now and we finally just now got our money back. The point of the story, while our waitress was accommodating and helpful, the wait for our food was awful, the food was not good at all, and this whole experience has been awful. If you can avoid this place, do so at all costs!

Don’t have high expectations when you come here because this restaurant will bring you back to the 80s. This restaurant does not live up to its name ‘Chicago’ Ribs. The interior of this restaurant is very random and old. There’s a few Asian décor and the rest of the restaurant looks run down looking with old chairs, tables, frame artwork. The service was slow because there were 2 people working, the server and cook. They weren’t knowledge with the menu when we asked questions. It got a little busy so the cook would come out and help take orders and serve. Now on to the food. Luckily, we had a groupon deal. Buffalo wings: straight outta the microwave. Probably a little better than Lil Ceaser’s hot wings. Not impressed. Pepperoni pizza: straight outta the microwave again. No Chicago like pizza. I should’ve just went next door to Lil Ceaser’s instead. Pasta combo(pick 1 pasta and 1 meat selection with 2 sides): linguine cajon pasta was very salty. It was marinara sauce with onions, bell pepper, mushrooms. Baby back ribs … Ehhh It was nothing special. The Chicago fries are criss cut fries which I liked. Mac and cheese … It was gross, really. I wouldn’t come back again but I like how this place has been around forever for the locals and it’s a simple neighborhood restaurant.

We found all beef, pork and chicken very good. Their wings re especially addictive, with some kind of crust in some secret recipes… I think the ones who gave bed reviews waited too long for the food. We waited about 5 minutes for onions and salad, 10′ for the main course which was the Chicago Feast.

There seemed to be one cook and one other person acting as server, host, and busser on the Sunday night when I went there, apparently because someone called in sick. I’ve been in that situation, so I can sympathize, but I also wonder if they underestimated the spike in customers via their Groupon deal, which is what brought us there. The interior of the place is old and run down, and it felt uncomfortably warm and stuffy. The onion rings and barbecue sauce were delicious, as were my sides of cornbread, baked beans, and a baked potato. But my beef ribs just felt dry and even a little burned/crusty. I know not everyone can make ribs like my grandma, but this was just depressing, especially after how long we waited for our entrees to arrive.

The food is very good and great portions! We got take-out so can’t comment on the service. We got a slab of the babyback ribs and it was well cooked, meat falling off the bones. The combo comes with 2 sides, so we got the baked beans and the veggies. Both sides were pretty good. We also got the chopped salad with chicken which was very dry and the leaves were a bit chunky, but the portions were huge. The person who took our order was very nice and friendly and was very efficient.

The place was empty when we walked in around 7 ish. They had to turn on the lights in the dining room. Ordered ribs which was very chewy and the wings were overcooked. The only decent thing was the onion rings. Not a good experience in general.

Went there on Sunday during lunch time with family used Groupon on our meal. The waiter is very friendly, service is good! We ordered baby ribs full rack and combo sampler. Baby ribs was cooked perfect, juicy, tender and tasty. Combo Sampler is OK, the chicken wings’ just not really what I expected. maybe frozen for too long. TV should be turned on especially Angels baseball is on.

Purchased a groupon for this place I was pretty excited to try this place out, but when I arrived and the place was empty I should’ve known better than to stay. The food looked ok but tasted horrible it had the nasty frozen taste from the wings, ribs the kids mini pizzas end the corn on the cob just horrible even after using the groupon I had to pay $ 50 worst money spent ever for lunch. Truly a disappointment !!!

Appalling, unnerving, atrocious are a few words that come to mind as I think back on my experience I had yesterday at Chicago ribs. First of all the moment I pulled in the parking lot I knew I was in for an unpleasant experience. The appearance of the restaurant was old, dirty and in dire need of a remodel. There was only one server working in the restaurant who was also acting as the hostess as well. We had to wait about 5 minutes for her to notice us standing there waiting to be seated. Once our party of 6 was seated, we asked if we could pay on separate checks(split 3 ways). We were told there was a «small charge» for that. We ordered an onion ring appetizer and the size of it was great. Good portion of food however it tasted as though it was cooked in 2 day old oil. For dinner one person in my party ordered a steak that when it was served was extremely tough and full of fat. Another person in my party ordered a hot pasta dish that had bell peppers in it. The bell peppers still had the sticker on it with the UPC code! There is some type of gym next door to the restaurant as well. Every few minutes we would hear a sound that resembled a bowling alley. You could actually feel the ground shake when we would hear this sound. When we asked about the sound, the server said they hear it all the time. It was people working out and dropping their weights on the floor. At the end when the check was given to us, the«small charge» for splitting the bill was $ 5 on each persons check! $ 15 dollars to have separate checks! Are you kidding me? I was also charged full price for the pasta with the UPC sticker on it. I asked to speak to her supervisor. I was told there was no supervisor there. She said, «maybe I can call him at home». Extremely frustrating. At the end she took off the charge for splitting the check and gave me a couple dollars off the pasta. I will never go back

Oh how experiences can change from one visit to the next. After acquiring a Groupon deal awhile back we came to Chicago Ribs with a very low expectation after reading so many low rated reviews. Despite these we gave them a fair shake and actually came away quite impressed with our visit as seen in my initial review of this place. Our second visit however was the polar opposite of the first. Our second visit came after I was gifted another Groupon deal. I forgot I had it for a while until it was about to expire so we made a point to head over for our return visit. I knew things were going to be rough when I saw that the entire restaurant had one person handling everything for all tables. The server himself was quite lethargic and lacked any friendliness of any sort and really just seemed to go through the motions. During our first visit, I went with the steak and I decided to switch things up this go around. I went with the ribs and wings combo with a baked potato and corn on the cob and regretted it as soon as it hit the table. The wings tasted like the microwaved variety and were cold to the touch. The ribs were dry and overcooked and had to be practically yanked off the bone. The butter we received this time was a small packet that was far too small to cover half my corn let alone the entire cob and the baked potato was cold and blah. I wasn’t surprised in the least to find that I was not the only person at the table who did not enjoy their food as all of us had similar complaints and wondered what had happened since our first visit just months before. It seems from reading the reviews that our second experience seems to more closely resemble the norm and our first may have been the exception. It is safe to say after our followup visit that the place has lost our confidence and the chance of another visit is all but gone. The only thing saving them from a 1 star rating is the fact that we had the Groupon and did not pay full price for the cold and flavorless food we were served.

I really hate to give a bad review… because the staff was very nice. But I would not return to this place. The food was flavorless and blah. The interior itself was old, outdated and needs to be cleaned up and repaired. Sorry

From the moment you walk in you feel this is a dying restaurant. It was empty from the time we walked in until the end of our meal at 7pm on a Monday night. We had tried to order the family meal but were denied because of a discount already applied. The food was subpar and service average at best being that WEWERETHEONLY people there. Overall I was this place could make some changes survive but that is unlikely. Will not be returning even with $ 30 of free food from still left to use.

I held off on this review for a while for whatever reason. A while back we tried this place with a Groupon(before checking reviews even though we try it sometimes anyways), and surprisingly we really enjoyed our first experience despite all those bad reviews. Maybe we were all the oddballs and liked it. Maybe they improved? I guess not. After enjoying our first experience we grabbed a hold of another Groupon but did not use it for quite some time. As it was expiring soon, we went and made the trip over. Reviews were still coming in pretty low, but we figured that we were okay to go. I believe that I ordered the same meal both times, because I had enjoyed it the first time. I chose the bbq chicken breast meal with a dinner roll, baked beans, and a baked potato. The dinner roll came out piping hot. My husband mentioned having heaps of butter during his initial review on our first visit, but that has gone away. We got the very small butter packets, one each. I don’t need a ton of butter so I was satisfied, especially when it melted in with the very hot roll that hurt to cut into. Delicious. So far so good. Okay, maybe not. The food came in. It looked bland. Potatoes came with just butter and sour cream which is fine. I don’t care about chives but it does look like it is more alive with them. It’s all about flavor from that point. None. The baked beans did taste good to me. The chicken was cold and flavorless, even with sauce. I was quite disappointed. The waiter wasn’t the friendliest, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt on that he was the only one handling all the tables and it was surprisingly busy. I know what it’s like to do everything while other co-workers sit and pick their butts or whatever else they do. The host did seat people but that was about it. I never did see anyone help. If I do come back, it won’t be for a long time. It was not worth the long drive at all after this experience. It is not a good sign when the thing that you enjoyed the most was the dinner roll.

I have been here about 10 times. Its always been OK. Not great… But good enough to buy from again. I always get it to go so the décor isn’t an issue for me. This time I ordered the «World Famous Chicago Feast» 46.99 Baby back pork ribs, beef back ribs, chicken, Chicago wings, shrimp, fries, fruit, beans, corn on the cob, onion rings, coleslaw, and cornbread.(It says serves up to 4 people) Now when it says«Up to» four people, my expectations are low. I am expecting 2 servings. What I got was nothing less than a Valentines Day prank. ½ of a corn on the cob. Yes… ONE! a small serving of beans(When I say small, I mean more like a garnish than a serving) A garnish of cole slaw. and 6 fries(Yes… I counted and there were 6) I called to let them know that I was very disappointed. Garret told me that he was the manager and that he understands how I feel and he’s sorry. He said they were busy because it was Valentines day(Not sure how that matters) He told me that«Lou» the owner wanted to cut back on the sides and that he usually tells people when they order. Well… you didn’t tell me. I got home and only had enough for my 9 year old grand daughter. This was one serving of all of the sides. The bar b sue sauce was half water. I wish they had video capabilities on here as I would post it so you could see. The pictures I am posting are of the sides. I used a small water bottle for size comparison. And to top this off… Garrett said he would have the owner call me and guess what… No call! No Surprise. So… Food was Bleh! Portions were smaller that popeyes single saving sides(Really) Bar B Q sauce was watery and the corn bread(Which I got 4 sides of) were dry and hard(# of which were corners) Oh! ANd the fruit! haha! 2 slices of a small orange(Cut in 1/8’s) one section of a piece of pineapple(A ¼ of a circle) and a slice of cantaloupe. THe FEAST! lol Save yourself the trip… Lou has let the place slip! UPDATE: I Left 2 messages for the owner… No call back. Erin the manager said that the«FEAST» comes with sides… There is only one serving of each but its enough for 4 people! That is absurd. That is like having a family meal and there is only enough for each person to have one item, not a little of everything. She was rude and I in turn got rude back. She offered me a free french fry! lol! Umm… No. THey aren’t good enough to drive for. The dinner comes with the same p ortion size of sides as the so called feast. Do your self a favor and go to Beach Pit Bar B !, New port Rib Company Lous Red Oak or BT’s Southern Bar B Q! THey are all better and have much much better customer service!

We arrived at Chicago Ribs a little after 7pm. They had already closed down half of the restaurant. Although we wanted a booth seat, which was totally available, they made us sit in the ½ booth ½ chair seat because they had already closed down that part of the restaurant that had the available booth. Now we had to awkwardly decide who gets the chair and who gets the booth… so unnecessary. I think you definitely need to be a regular to have patience for the service. There was only one waitress serving the few remaining tables by herself, and you can tell she was a bit stressed. We shared the BBQ Chicken Pizza and Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo with some house salads on the side. The BBQ chicken pizza was really tasty. We asked for jalapenos when we ordered it and the waitress mentioned they may not have any. So needless to say we were extra happy when we seen the pizza arrive with the jalapenos on top. They serve wine in those miniature size wine glasses. No Pinot Noir, so I went with the House Merlot. I give Chicago Ribs 3 stars because the food was pretty good, and the waitress was just doing her job. Although they close at 8:30pm, try to get there way before 7PM so you can enjoy the entire restaurant.

I brought home a variety of foods to serve my family. The guy that took my order at the bar was nice enough to honor my groupon although I had failed to notice it was dine in only. I live walking distance away and have NEVER come in. No curb appeal, no great Unilocal reviews. I was honest about this with the staff… so I gave them a chance to shine. The food was decent, my family devoured it. They liked the beef ribs better than pork, but enjoyed it all. The sides in the combo that serves 2 were odd. Only one corn cobb, for example. I don’t do well with greasy food, but the tasting I did of the various items had decent flavor. Not visually compelling atmosphere, but not as bad as I expected by the reviews. I would think it is better for family dining than dates. Not going to become regulars, simply because the food TYPE is not one we indulge in much. But on occassion for family cravings, I’d go again. Especially with a groupon.

Groupon and desperate. That was my response when I was asked why I had checked into a 2.5 star rated establishment. Dont do it. No matter how hungry you are, even if you waited 4 hours to eat because your family wanted to go to the damn summerfest at MSP– which by the way, had a poor selection of food. It was on the way. There was a groupon. They have ribs. That is why we went. Honestly when I said I wanted ribs, I meant Tulsa, Lucille’s, albertson’s even. The place has 80s interior with no updates. When we sat, a gentleman in black took our drink order. When we asked questions about deals, he said we would have to ask the server. Um. Then who are you? Server finally came. Didn’t seem like he knew what he was talking about. Half an order of onion rings was pretty large. I was starving so I ate a lot of it even though it was super greasy and made me feel like crud. We ordered a full rack of ribs which I swear the menu said 12, and a half rack is 6. I counted 9 bones. That’s ¾. Sides = Mac and cheese, probably canned. Coleslaw, probably canned. Cross cut fries, probably canned. Kids pizza, would’ve been better off buying Jenos microwave pizzas. Dessert, mud pie tasted like mud. Left there thinking whatever thank god we had a groupon. Until I started developing contractions the next morning. This is not even worth it. I wouldn’t even eat here if it was free. Screw groupon deals and letting go of standards when I’m desperately starving. It’s not worth the food poisoning.

The owners need to work on their theme of the place. Half the restaurant was lit while the other side was completely dark. Friendly server. Fresh lemons. Ugly but tasty onion rings. The side shrimp and chicken tasted better than the ribs. Coleslaw tasted like water. Fries plain without BBQ sauce. Overall I would return for a cheap dinner but wouldn’t recommend anyone coming here with high expectations.
