As good as it gets! Yes, that is five stars. My family has eaten either ‘grass fed’ beef or bison for the past 20 years. We stopped eating the corn fed or pen/lot fed meats because of the proven use of hormones and other stimulants for growing larger beeves thus increasing a profit. Grass fed red meat is proven to be healthier than all other types yet is has some drawbacks. Usually it is more expensive. Often it has a gamey flavor or ‘beefy’ taste. These are aspects we either overlooked or adapted to because of the benefits to our health. Upon moving to AZ recently we started looking for a ‘local’ grass fed beef vendor and more or less stumbled upon Arizona Legacy Beef And since we’ve met the owners/ranchers/operators AND tasted their Criollo(kr-ō-yō) beef we are happier than a pig in … well. First, Kacie and Dan are extremely helpful and simply wonderfully friendly. They go out of their way to explain the whole ranching process and how it benefits their beef and those who use their product. They will drive to make a delivery and their prices are very(!) competitive. We’ve bought on line(and this local ranch is not really ‘online’ because it is generally hand delivered in person) for so many years and paid pretty high prices and then shipping. Arizona Legacy Beef’s policies are simplified and the costs are very close to grocery prices… cannot get better than great and healthy beef at good prices. Our first bit of their tenderloin was exceptional. Tenderloin should be buttery and those ‘pen fed’ beeves are buttery with fat… but not Arizona Legacy beef. It was ‘just’ buttery enough with a rich meaty flavor and a easy to cut texture. I once spent nearly $ 100 at a Ruth Chris restaurant for a steak that tasted as good… big difference in price and health benefits with the award going to Arizona Legacy Beef. Great product, friendly and good owners/ranchers and an easy and affordable process. You won’t be disappointed and my only wish is that I had more room in the freezer.
