Everything we ate tasted homemade, like they were recipes passed down from previous generations. Chef Russell’s use of spices added a brightness to plates that pleased my palate. I will definitely come pack for another round and will bring friends. I have lived in Chicago and Minneapolis, two big food cities, and am happy to have found this here. I only wish I would have known lamb dishes were available.

Russell makes delish food. Many are his grandmothers recipes. He uses real Saffron!!! These are corners many other Indian restaurants cut. The décor is casual and the prices are reasonable. Beer and wine available. Even if you’ve never eaten Indian food you should go. Great food and they’ll help you order. Can’t go wrong with Tikka Chicken Masala and the Paneer Pakan! I got my food medium heat but next time I’ll get hot because I like it spicier. Highly recommend.

This place is great. The food is amazing the service is very personal. The dishes are large so you will have plenty to eat. The chef, Russell was in the dining room and spoke to every guest about their meal. It is great to have such a great restaurant so close to home.

Excellent food and friendly owner and staff! Russell(owner) greeted us and introduced himself. The chicken tikka masala and lamb kabobs were tasty and the garlic naan was perfect! Don’t forget the chai tea!

This little restaurant was pretty cute, had friendly and attentive staff. Our food came out pretty quickly and generally tasted good. The samosas were delicious and flavorful but the curries were a bit watery and barely had any spice. In terms of portions we had a generous amount of curry yet very little rice. The great part of this restaurant is that the price is very reasonable

This place is amazing every time I go! The mango smoothie is to die for! Very authentic Indian food. The paalak chaat is the only appetizer of its kind. This is the only restaurant in the country that has this type of appetizer. No kidding!! Love this place!

I was going to take before food pictures but we attacked it before I thought to whip out my phone. Take my word for it the food was great. I like Indian cuisine but this is probably the best place so far. This place is hard to see because it’s in a shopping center and behind another restaurant but not a hole in the wall by any means. They have a beer and wine selection and a small store. The service was excellent and the wait staff is very nice, the cook came out front and talked to us, he was very nice. Russell Ramaswamy was his name. The menu is small but the offer a variety including hotness and vegan, side dishes a variety of naan and rice as well as flavor. The food was so great, the drinks are delicious and everything was authentic. AUTHENTIC, AUTHENTIC, AUTHENTIC!!! You have to try it at least once.

Very happy to see this Indian Restuarant in the Humble area! More like mom was back in the kitchen than a typical Restuarant. Chef Russell delivers the secret to great Indian food… quality ingredients and fresh spices. All the extra oil that typically ruin Indian food is avoided here. What I was left with was ALLYUM!!!

Flavor is just ok, nothing to rave about or come back for. Ive had better indian food in Houston, considering it is in Humble i guess it is passable… One thing i found strange is that they have beef dishes which you will rarely find in an authentic Indian restaurant. Flavor tasted very frozen/boxed food. Oh and they don’t give you free refills on soda, strange too. There are better places in Humble to eat indian food, i wont be coming back here.

Just had lunch here with my hubby, and the food was Delicious! I recommend the Beef kofta, rashmi kabob wrap, and the lamb kabobs. All of them had the perfect blend of spices and accompanied by really good sauces and dips. Also try out the Nimboo Pani(mint lime lemonade) or the Falooda(^_~). Price were very reasonable. Wait staff could be a bit quicker to check on tables and refill drinks, but the Manager was extremely friendly and you could see how proud he is of his restaurant and the quality of product they serve. Will definitely be coming back to try out some more yummy combinations.

Our second time there, the food was wonderful and the friendly owner made it even better. He remembered that we went on their second week. He even remember what my husband ordered last time and recommend a different dish to try. Best Indian place in Houston.

First time to visit Chef Russell at his Curry Sultan It was not a wasted trip. Chef Russell was the first to greet us with a sincere welcome and invitation to peek at the kitchen. He displayed our selected meal as it was being prepared from fresh ingredients with nothing being frozen. We enjoyed the meal from appetizer, entre, to desert. Russell checked with us on the quality of each course as it reached the table. Certainly there were no complaints. Goodbyes delivered by Russell’s wife at the cashier were as warm as the welcome. Let’s keep this excellent Indian palace in Humble with steady community support.

My friend and I went here for dinner last night. It was our first time here. We had been anxiously awaiting the opening of a neighborhood Indian restaurant. We were not disappointed. The owner, Russell was very informative and explained the dishes we asked about and answered our questions. I got the Lamb Kebab with Basmati Rice. The Lamb Kebab wasn’t your typical piece of lamb, but ground lamb with a variety of Indian spices. It was excellent, and I was given four hefty pieces. We had the Paalak Chatt for an appetizer – it’s big enough to share. It’s a fried spinach and ground chickpea noodle salad with a very light dressing on it. It was different, but oh-so-good! I would definitely recommend you get this. We also had the garlic naan which was also very good. Highly recommend you give it a try – you won’t be disappointed!

Ok, so this place just opened a few weeks ago, and they are going through some growing pains. There seems to be a disconnect between the server and the kitchen staff, but it didn’t matter because the food was AWESOME. Let me start with my one complaint, the samosas were not good. They were bland, stale, and unappetizing. Now, I lived in NYC for years and was able to dine at dozens of different Indian places from the north and south. The first thing I’ll tell you is that the food here is less greasy than most. Okay, so To drink I had the nimbo pani, it was amazing. If you haven’t had it it’s like a minty lemonade, served in a stainless steel cup that keeps it cold with very little ice to not dilute the flavor. For my entrée I had the biryani, it was delicious and reasonably priced. My wife had the tikka masala which she said she liked, but I think it’s hard to do tikka masala poorly. Go to this place now, there’s not much out there like it.

My wife and I arrived on a Sunday night. Chef Russ eagerly greeted us at the door and, after seating us, explained about the restaurant and its cuisine, and how it is prepared(fresh, and made to order!). We were starving and began ordering: Bhelpuri to start with, Malai Kofta, Choley, and Garlic Naan. After taking our orders Russ recommended the Paalak Chaat as our appetizer. To be honest, we were skeptical when he described it as a fried spinach salad, but relied on his culinary expertise and ordered it as well. Whoa. The bhelpuri was outstanding. It was our first taste, and it was very good. The spicy and salty and nutty flavors burst in our mouths. Next was the palaak chaat, the fried spinach salad. It was AMAZING! You must order it. It was nothing like I was expecting– it was BETTER! Shortly after we began working on our appetizers the entrée items arrived. We dove into those and knew there was no way we were going to finish everything.(We had plans to try his desserts, and wanted to save room.) The malai kofta was a dish I had never tried before. Both my wife and I agreed it was very good. The tomato gravy was obviously freshly made, and was perfectly spiced as we had asked. We both enjoy chickpeas and the choley did not disappoint. It, too, was piquant, and was complemented by the bed of basmati rice we had ladled the chickpeas over. The basmati rice, by the way, is complementary when ordered with many of the entrée items; that is something I am not used to when eating at other Indian restaurants in NYC or LA or San Francisco. Good on you, Curry Sultan. The heat from the chilies was beginning to cause a localized monsoon on my brow so two mango lassis were promptly arranged for. For nearly all my life I have enjoyed these wonderful beverages to soothe the pleasurable pain that capsaicin can induce, and let me say, these were the best. Not too sweet, not too yogurt-y, and not too thick or thin. Just right. If I have one tiny little recommendation, it would be to chill the ingredients first. That said, I will be ordering them every time simply because they are that good. Chef Russ noticed that we were clearly not going to finish everything and opined that we should save the entrée to take home and focus on the appetizers since they do not save well. That was sage advice, since the appetizers were lighter and we did want to indulge in the desserts. We could not agree on one to share so we opted for one each of the Gajar Halwa(with pistachios, yes!), and Kheer. Both were excellent, we shared a few bites, and then my wife took over the kheer while I worked on the halwa. Even after all that food and drink, our total bill was very reasonable. We walked– no, waddled– out of there having ate like a king and queen, with leftovers for lunch the next day, all the while knowing we would be back very soon. For those who appreciate gourmet Indian, prepared specifically for you, then this is your place. Curry Sultan would be a rave restaurant if it were downtown, and yet, we have it here in humble Atascocita.(which is fitting as we are so near Humble…) There will be those that yap(or is it Unilocal?) about the ambiance or wall color or music or whatever, and those that decry the lack of a buffet. I come for the food, not the swag. Frankly, I hope that Curry Sultan never offers a buffet. The Chef prepares amazing food at fair prices. For the cost of a buffet, and in nearly the same time, you can have a meal prepared exactly to your liking. And Indian was meant to be shared anyway. Order a few items that you do not know how to pronounce and have never heard of, and share! You will never miss a buffet, and will be glad that your food did not come from a Sterno-heated trough that requires a «sneezeguard» be installed over. We are very lucky to have entrepreneurial risk-takers who opt to open a family-run Indian restaurant in a tough marketplace such as ours, and my prayer is that Curry Sultan will succeed many times over. His food is outstanding, and his energy and love for his craft is inspiring. Thanks, Russ.

We are truly food conaisseurs and love to cook. Our favorite kind of restaurant is locally owned by people who are as passionate about good food as we are and who insist on the best ingredients, made to order. Curry Sultan fits the bill with Chef Russell — and the prices are very reasonable. The color scheme is warm and inviting although the lighting could be improved for a little better ambiance. The bottom line is the quality and flavor of the food. We enjoyed everything we had: butter chicken, Aaloo Matar and Malai Kofta. I’ll give up romantic lighting any day for a wonderfully prepared meal. You won’t find a more authentic, interesting and delicious meal anywhere in the Humble/Atascocita/Kingwood area for the same money.
