I am a little iffy on my experience with them… you make the call based on the following experience. I am originally from Dallas and made a bike purchase via Craigslist in Houston. In order to transport the bike back to Dallas, I made arrangements via phone with Better Bikes to break it down, package it it and ship it to Dallas. The owner of the bike agreed to meet us at the shop at a agreed-on time. Reached Better Bikes(Google takes you to their old location, but no biggie, since their new location is less than a miles away) on a fairly not-so-busy Saturday with my family(we were driving through Houston to Dallas). My 3 year old immediately took a liking to the kids bikes in the stores and started«testing» them out. In fact she managed to check out four different bikes that were on the floor. She had good fun! The staff were friendly and a few of the staff approached us and asked if we were being helped etc. Started chatting with a gentleman named Nick and told him that I was there to transport a bike to Dallas. He made some small talk for a while and went back to taking care of other stuff. All this was prior to the owner of th bike showing up. Once the owner showed up, we determined that he actually has a bike rack that we could potentially use to transport the bike back to Dallas on our own. Nick was nice enough to give the bike a quick run through and ensure that everything checked out fine with the bike. But once we determined that we could transport the bike using the bike rack, he figured out that he was not going to get any business from us. We asked him to help out with installing the bike rack on a SUV(the owner was familiar with installing it on a sedan); thats kind of when we started getting interesting… Me: «Nick, can you help us install the bike rack on the SUV?» Nick: «So, you purchase a bike off craigslist and you are asking for my help?» Me(sheepishly): «Yes» Nick: «Really?» Me: «Yes, its called good customer service.» Nick: «You live in Dallas don’t you?» Me: «Yes» Nick: «I am nice but not that nice» At which point, the whole situation became very awkward; we had to get our kid away from further«test» drives. So ended up being on my own. The bike owner and I eventually figured out how to install the bike rack, but definitely not how an experienced hand would do. So what would you do expect in that situation — go above and beyond for customer satisfaction OR determine that since there is going to be no financial benefit, drop a desperate guy in need.
