After driving along Nantasket Beach looking for a decent place to stop for lunch, we had actually given up but happened to spot Jake’s while stopped at a light. What a nice surprise! Upon entering, the retail case had very fresh looking seafood on display which was a good sign. Views were nice as long as you are seated at a table along the windows or the next row over. It was late – about 2:30 on a gorgeous sunny Saturday so the wait was only about 10 – 15 minutes. Service was friendly and efficient. We started with the plain calamari which was perfectly cooked. The only critique is it was served with cocktail sauce and when we asked for marinara(which was good and tasted home made) it was an extra charge of $ 1.95. Also had the clam roll with bellies, generously portioned with good fries and lightly dressed cole slaw. Others at the table had the caesar salad with anchovies and the chicken pesto sandwich which were both good – nice alternatives for anyone in the party that doesn’t want seafood! Definitely would like to go back to try other items.

We had really great service and the food was as good as we expected — expectations were high since this place was recommended to us by Josephine bed and breakfast! We had the swordfish and the fish and chips. We will go back!

A good view, decent food, good service. No need to go to the Cape. Get your beach on at Jake’s. On an 80 degree June day, a friend suggested beer and lobster rolls on the water. We ended up at Jake’s, which is a view with a restaurant. On the bay side of Hull a short walk from Nantasket Beach, it overlooks a marina and, in the distance, the backside of World’s End. There’s plenty of parking, both dedicated and overflow where there’s also a public launch for kayaks and small boats. As you enter, it looks like a fishmonger with a case of iced fresh fish for sale. That day, the lobster was $ 2 more per lb. than it was at the nearby pound in Cohasset. According to the server, all their seafood comes from Boston, which makes me wonder why Jake’s doesn’t use really local fish. Just past the fish is the host stand and a roomy bar, which looks like it would be good for eating and drinking. Beyond the bar are two large(air conditioned) rooms with a mix of booths and tables. Most — but not all — of these tables share the gorgeous view. Despite this, the middle room feels crowded and unpleasant, like something out of your worst tourist nightmare. I’ve been to Jake’s half a dozen times and have always avoided eating in the middle room. At the far end of the second room is a door to the outside deck with six or eight tables. Amazing! The tables are sturdy with comfy chairs and custom secured tablecloths and umbrellas so that sun and wind and weather won’t bother you while you’re eating, unless it gets really bad, which it did while we were there. After two courses in exquisite weather, the server suggested that it might get bad and invited us to one of her inside tables. She was attentive and informative and chatty and friendly the entire time. No matter what we wanted — more time? More food? More drink? — she was there at just the right time. Drinks. We got beer, of course, including the local Entitled IPA on draft. Cheers for serving local! They were out of the bottled beer we chose(from the menu), but the server brought a comparable beer for our approval before opening it at the table. The bar has only two bourbons and very few whiskeys, so if you’re into dark spirits, Jake’s isn’t for you. Food. Buffalo shrimp app($ 10) was deepfried and tossed with a mild«hot» sauce. Not my favorite. Crab cakes were more like crab muffins with lumps of crab and a lot of filing. Tasty, though, but pricey($ 18?) for the app. Onion rings were good once we added salt but they were hard to eat as the breading kept falling off. Lobster roll — the point of the trip — was underwhelming. No matter that they say it on the menu, it’s disappointing to be served plain lobster with no seasoning on a very small toasted roll absent any condiment. While I get that tastes vary, it seems that — at $ 24 — dressing the sandwich could be done in the kitchen. Perhaps make mayo or butter an option? The roll comes with two sides, as do most of the entrees. We got slaw — totally tang-less — and«rice pilaf» — totally bland. We got dessert, too, the double chocolate brownie sundae, which was ordinary. The kids might eat it but don’t waste your time or calories. It wasn’t great but I’ll go back — for the view, the sun, to sit by the water while someone brings me food after a day at the beach.

I know it says Seafood… but…I called to see if they also serve Burgers. I kindly asked the General Manager(who answered the phone) if they served cheeseburgers and he stated that I must have him confused with McDonalds and he HUNGUPONME!!! Completely unbelievable and rude. I have been a customer for years but will start spending my money at any other restaurant in town.

Best seafood around. Fresh and delicious. It’s generally crowded, especially on the weekends so be prepared to wait. But it’s so worth it!

very good place for reasonably priced sea food. the fried clams are good. and pasta is good too. I went about a week ago and the steamed clams were dirty. and the sword fish app wasn’t as good as I remember. I think this place might be going down hill.

Yummy shrimp with white sauce. Huge portion! My dad enjoyed his clams and shrimp. Very friendly server and a great view from the tables at the back of the restaurant. If I’m ever back in Hull, I’ll definitely be stopping back by.

I live in Alaska, and come to Massachusetts about once a year to visit my family. One of my top priorities(besides visiting my mom, brothers, sister’s-in-law and nieces and nephews) when I’m in Mass. is to get LOBSTAH! Jake’s saved what could have been a vacation in Massachusetts with only lobster rolls… Jake’s has taken over as my favorite place to go when I am visiting. For the past 20+ years, the Red Parrot in Hull has been our Weymouth family’s ‘go to’ for Sunday brunch and LOBSTAH, because of the service, the beautiful view of Nantasket and, yes, LOBSTAH! However, my mom had gotten numerous reports that RP’s food had gone down hill. Mom had asked a friend who lives in Hull for other recommendations, and she had Jake’s in first place, but mentioned that they were ‘expensive’. RP, despite it’s prominent building and years in residence, was not mentioned. We had checked Jake’s website, and lobster was not on their online menu. A lot of other seafood restaurants that we were sure had lobster didn’t have them on their menu, either and when we called to see if they had lobster as a special, none of them did(we hadn’t called Jake’s). RP had lobster on their regular menu, so we headed to our ‘go to’. Except —- after our drinks came, the waitress, sporting the super mini shorts(not a prude — just feel that in the customer service world they should be reserved for life guards or Hooters/Tilted Kilt) and the«Got Lobster» T-shirt… they did not have lobster! Two beautiful glasses of Pino Grigio gone to the kitchen staff! We called Jake’s from the parking lot: «Of course we have lobster! Steamed, stuffed, rolls, however you want it!»(That was Captain Ed). At Jake’s, Mom and I were seated immediately, despite some other larger(3 people) groups waiting for tables, and our table was in(this is the best part) what I would call the screen porch. The outer wall was fully screened,(with glass windows that fold over the screens in cooler weather), and our table was angled for an optimal view of the inlet and the sunset. The wind picked up, and yes, it was a little breezy, but it was so refreshing! I anchored my lobster bib under my plate(which really helped keep the lobster bits off of my pants as I destructed my dinner). There were no complaints from anyone sitting by the windows… This is New England! Our waitress(Ashley) greeted us with a genuine smile, introduced herself(with a lot more enthusiasm than at RP), and checked on us regularly. When we asked for extra lobster forks or napkins, they arrived with no delay. Excellent service! Oh, and Ashley(and every other server) was wearing mid-thigh length or longer shorts and an apron, with a Jake’s T-shirt. Okay. I only get fresh lobster once a year, so I went for the 2 pounder, but after I destroyed the legs, every ounce of knuckle meat, every once of meat left on the torso and one claw, I decided to leave the tail and the other claw for lunch the next day. Our bill, drinks and salad upgrade included, was ~97.00(without tax — no tax in Alaska). In Alaska, our lobster meal would have been well over $ 150. Jake’s has become my new«go to»!

First star is because they are on the water and second star is because the staff is friendly. If it wasn’t for those 2 things, it would be 0 stars. I wish I had read the reviews for the lobster rolls before I went there today. $ 25 lobster roll and you have to put your own mayo in? Shame on them. It was about 5 oz of lobster on a hot dog roll. What’s that come to, $ 80 bucks a pound? Guys, we’re in New England, do a lobster roll you can be proud of! And by the way, who asks if you want your bun toasted? Of course you do! Oh yeah, the fried clams and oysters were over cooked. They tasted leftover before we even got back to the boat. Cole Slaw was horrible. Seafood restaurant, and tartar sauce from Ken’s, c’mon! If you’re going by boat, stay on the water and go to Belle Isle in Winthrop. Lobster roll there is already prepared, has twice the lobster, and is prob about $ 5 – 6 bucks cheaper.

I don’t live here, I don’t live around here, I came to Nantasket for the beach in and I fully understand how places like this can get expressive but I go in and order anyway, my order was 3 lobster roll and there’s no Price tag next to the lobster roll. not to my surprise the bill come up to $ 75, my thought process is I’m about to engage in a $ 25 lobster roll but to my surprise the food came out incredibly simple is is no doubt better than McDonald’s lobster roll but 3 time more disappointed, just plan old lobster on a hot dog bun in a box that cost 25 $…meahh

If you love potatoes, get the chowda. The buffalo shrimp is consistently great. The Mako was cooked perfectly. They ran out key lime pie before 5 pm… so don’t count on it if you have a sweet tooth. Drinks are light handed, so something to consider based on personal preference. Mixed bag.

We did not feel like cooking at our vacation rental, so we tried Jake’s for their take out food. Everything on the menu is available for take out. They have an extensive seafood selection. We had the seafood casserole, Jake’s fried seafood platter, and our landlubber daughters had roasted herb chicken and broccoli. The chicken was savory, the casserole had a nice layer of Monterrey Jack cheese baked in. And the platter was generous and satisfying. The food was prepared and readied for take out promptly, the staff was courteous and friendly. I would patronize this establishment in the future.

I often go to Jakes but was very disappointed last night. I walked in and sat at the bar and the bartender Kathy snapped at me and asked me how many were in my party. I said three. My friend who I came in with had stopped to chat with someone she knew and my other friend had not arrived yet. There were 5 other available seats at the bar at that point. I was by no means trying to save a seat for the friend who hadn’t arrived because I know better than that. I had to ask Kathy for a glass of wine. She gave it to me and I thanked her and she didn’t even look at me. Long story short, she continued with the rudest treatment that I have ever experienced in a restaurant. I am very disappointed because I did have a nice piece of baked haddock but I’m seriously thinking that I don’t even want to go there anymore.

The saving grace is the view and the reasonable prices. Service is decent. The food is okay. We tried the chowda and baker scrod.
