Picked up a ¼lbs of mixed dried fruit in a little baggie($ 3) at the Everyone’s Harvest PG Farmer’s Market and loved the dried pears so picked up another baggie of just pears. So good, not overly sweet, certified organic, no added sugars or preservatives. So good!

Bought Inzana organic dried pears during my trip to San Francisco. They are the best I’ve ever eaten. Took them on the plane home for a treat and now eating them back in Boston. Only wish we could get food this great on the east coast. Lucky you Cali people!

I bought Ranch Trail Mix from the Inzana stand at the San Francisco VA Farmers’ market(every Wednesday from 10 – 2 year –round! I am so glad for this Farmers’ Market!). The trail mix was just how I like it: pleasant mix of dried fruit and raw nuts. No salt, no sugar; just food! Loved the variety of tree nuts; pistachios, walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts. No peanuts! And a variety of fruit, not just raisins. This little packet of protein saved my day as I sampled it while waiting with my dad for a crazy-long time at his clinic. Thank you, Inzana!

Today at the Marina farmer’s market we met Tony Inzana of Inzana Ranch & Produce out of Hughson. I have no idea where Hughson is, but given the 209 area code, I’m guessing he and his nuts are from the central valley. I bought a one-pound bag of shelled hazelnuts. Tony seemed pleased at my boys’ curiosity and, along with my purchase, gave the boys each a hazelnut, a pecan, an almond, and a walnut… still in the shells… so they would know what the nuts look like on the tree. Pulling out my culinary crystal ball: I see a Torta di Nocciole in my future and many return trips to Tony’s stand at the farmers’ markets around the area.
