Wunderbar and Bistro

Great food. The Wunderbar salad is one of the best I’ve ever had and the meatloaf (MA, the meatloaf!!) is amazing. It’s made with beef, turkey, and sweet Italian sausage… and its wrapped in bacon. Case closed. Get it.

The staff ROCKS!!! we went on one of the CRAZIEST nights of the year in Hudson… Winter Walk. Not only is that a crazy night but we went right after Winter Walk ends and everyone is looking for a place to eat.
We were seated right away, and although the place was a total mob scene, our server had our drinks to us in a flash, took our order so pleasantly, as if we were his only patrons, and after about a 12 minute wait, our delicious food arrived. The efficiency of the entire staff was a thing to behold. As a server myself, I felt like each and every one of them, from hostess to runners, deserved a medal of valor !!!
We must return and try it on a quiet, normal night. but if they could do what they did that night, they must be amazing on a normal night!!!

Well had a Christmas party at the Wonder Bar in Hudson. Was told one thing by the bartender and then scolded by the manager. Communication between management and staff are very poor. The bartenders should be well informed of the restaurant and bars policies. Instead the patron is scolded. Not to mention their prices are a little too much for what they have to offer. You ain’t all that. Not to worry though. There are plenty of other venues in the area.

Unfortunately the food just wasn’t good — processed, old, overcooked, frozen. The restaurant felt dark and drab and was quite empty for a fall weekend. And the service was also really slow, especially sincere there was only one other table. I was really disappointed.

Had the hanger steak special. Description for wine/​bacon reduction sauce sounded amazing, smelled great but taste was average/​bordering bland. Mashed was chunky like i like it. Wife got roasted half chicken that was very tasty. Pumpkin spice cocktail was very good, not overly pumpkiny. And very well priced.

More terrible conventional food in Hudson. This town is funny, it’s either real good, or real bad.

Twice in one week this place is great awesome burgers and great wings we will be back soon. Service also outstanding

This place is ok. Came with my man for an early dinner on Sat around 6pm. we were able to sit right away and believe me, service was really FAST, so fast that a waiter came around multiple times to take our order and I felt super rushed. Eventually, he moved to another table and another waiter came crashing in to take our order. It was like they were aggressively fighting for tables. Strange. Anyway. We ordered a plate of wings to start which were plentiful and delish– got them hot in flavor and HOT in temperature. I then had the salmon two ways special which to be frank, was nasty. hence the lower rating. It was half a properly cooked salmon, with rice but then half like salmon salad. like tunafish, not good. Bf had pot roast but ironically our waiter thought he said poppers… and as such, we were given jalapeño poppers (good) free of charge, given the mistake. The pot roast came out quickly enough and was ok. I’m not a big pot roast fan. But everything was well cooked, I just think this is the place where you should stick with burgers, wings, etc. Basic stuff. If you check in on Unilocal,you can get a free glass of wine. so that’s a nice touch except the Chardonnay I got tasted foul. way too sweet.

One of my favorite spots in hudson to eat! LOVE the chicken sandwich and potato cut fries. Staff is awesome!!! Would go every night if I could!

Great food, great service (Billy Jo is one of the best servers I’ve had). My partner and I have been there several times, I always go for the specials and he usually orders the Jäger schnitzel, always finishing his plate. Highly recommended bistro with great staff and even better food.

Wunderbar and Bistro was perfectly acceptable for a quick lunch while visiting Hudson, NY. Having never been to the area, from the outside its hard to say I was much impressed. However, the Unilocal ratings and reviews motivated me to proceed.
Once inside, Wunderbar and Bistro seems like your quaint local pub, dimly lit but welcoming. The bartender, at about 12:30 pm on a Monday, was also the hostess and waitress, yet she was efficient, pleasant, and helpful with the decent selection of beers on tap.
With respect to the food, I must say, I was drawn to Hudson, NY (a 2 hour drive north of home) because of a Thrillist article I recently came across which listed the area as one of the top 10 day trip destinations from NYC. They listed a few reason to visit, one of which was the quality of cuisine. The restaurant specifically mentioned in the article was neighboring Wunderbar, but not open on this day. With that kind of endorsement of the town however, perhaps my expectations were over inflated.
I ordered a chicken sandwich with waffle fries and both were decent, but truly nothing more than the average bar fare. Certainly nothing to particularly write home about; but it satisfied my hunger, was fairly priced, and the place was clean and well maintained, so I can’t really complain.

This place is super great. Zac and Rich are lovely folks and the food is delicious! You should go here.

Service is good, friendly staff which makes a big difference. Never had entrees, but the burgers and wings (I recommend the sweet and spicy Thai sauce) are definitely solid. Prices are fair. They have a pool table, juke box, couches and tvs in the back room.

What a truly amazing dinner! Jeanette (sp?!) was our server but the whole staff was immensely gracious! I had the steak salad which was cooked to perfection and I am immediately going to copy it at home this weekend! My boyfriends burger was on point for a burger lover! We love Hudson and will be returning to Wunderbar to sit at the bar for cocktails and more food!

We came in after a long day in the sun. Started off with the sriracha wings that tasted lovely. I was surprised at the temperature of the cooked wings, they stayed hot the entire time. The flavor was tasty and they were cooked perfectly. Was tempted to share the meatloaf, chicken carbonara pasta, and a chicken salad.
The meatloaf was moist and have really good texture and flavor. I’m not a fan of carbonara sauce. However, this one was really good, surprisingly since they used bacon, not pancetta. The salad was even better than we imagined, and incredibly large.
Did I mention there are Unilocal check-​in specials. We forgot to use the free glass of wine, but we purchased $ 40 for food/​drink for $ 20. Thanks Unilocal/​Wunderbar.
Great local spot with a good vibe in the restaurant, bar, and back area with tv and pool table. The bartenders had a lot of personality and one of the tenders told me exactly how they prepared the food. I asked if he moonlighted as a chef, and he said he used to cook. I was impressed.

I was looking forward to trying this spot out while I was Upstate, but I wasn’t as great as I expected. I liked the jalapeño poppers, and the chicken carbonara was as well. The original server that we had was very nice, but it was the end of his shift. The other server wasn’t as friendly.
I was think about giving 4 stars, but it was just a good average place.

This bar always has good beer, not a very big selection but someone knows their stuff. I usually always find a good porter or stout on tap. They have good prices to match. They usually have liquor specials as well so this time around I had to try the Rumchata Chocolate Milkshake that the bartender there said he created it was delicious and then I tried one of the porters they had on tap which was a great pick. If you want a place to go to eat this is it also they always have great food but this time around we didn’t get to eat there.

After my brief stint of living in Wisconsin for 3 years, I became very fond of German food. Unfortunately, for lunch at least, Wunderbar doesn’t really offer German options. Don’t get me wrong, the food is amazing. These were quite easily the best sweet potato fries I have ever tasted … crunchy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside.
My husband had the black and blue burger. He always orders his burgers «medium» and gets a medium well to well done burger as fulfillment to his request. He was very excited to have received the most delicious, MEDIUM cooked burger.
The food was delicious and the service was great (we sat at the bar). I will surely be going back there for dinner to try their schnitzel. With only a few German items on the dinner menu, maybe they should stop running commercials focused on that. ;)

This place has deals and discounts for daaaaays, oh yeah and happy hour as well.
Was here on a weekend and watched some football in the back room.
Had the sliders, hot wings, and Wunderbar salad. Everything was solid besides the wings, wasn’t feeling them. I think they were overcooked.
They have a full bar with some infused drink options. I tried the vodka infused with apples, delicious. Going to try and make something similar at home.
Would come back again.

Nice and friendly atmosphere, good service and a cool beer selection. What more do you need from a local bar/​pub? We were in for an early dinner, so it was on the quiet side. We were served promptly after taking advantage of a glass of wine via the Unilocal deal. Nice bonus!
The meatloaf was yummy… a great comfort-​food option. The half-​chicken was a little on the dry side, but the skin was crispy and well-​seasoned. We felt comfortable here at Wunderbar. It seemed less pretentious than some of the spots in Hudson that tend to try a little too hard.
Recommended for a solid meal at reasonable prices. Would love to try one of the schnitzels on a future visit!
