Superb! Best coffee I have ever had! I am very picky about this ancient beverage and Strongtree has it down! The French Roast is so good, I went online and bought 5 pounds of it! It’s so sad that they moved from that adorable train station in Hudson to FLA, but please support this company and buy your organic beans from their website

Sad to say, Strongtree has closed up shop in Hudson, apparently to move to greener pastures in Florida. Sad to see them go.

NOOOOO! I live in Boston and make it a point to hit Strongtree every time I go to the Hudson Valley, which is about once a month. I was seriously bummed out this morning to see that the shop is closed! The coffee was just fantastic, and the music(vinyl!) that played there added to the whole charm of the place. I will truly miss this place, and it will be challenging to find another decent cup in the area. Good luck to them with their move to Florida.

They are moving to Florida soon! Heartbreaking. I hear that their website will have free shipping if you order $ 50+ worth of beans.

I walked to Strongtree today to find them closed. The sign said they were moving. When I stopped up the road for lunch I was told they were heading back to Florida. So sad! They will be missed in Hudson. I did pop over to their website to order some beans and stock up. Katie V. is right — My order was over $ 50 and had free Priority Mail shipping. That was nice! I have been using their beans exclusively at home for months, they are wonderful. I highly recommend the Honduras single origin for regular coffee and the Coco Mojo for at-home espressos.

Fall’s the time to take a spin up to Tribeca-on-Hudson and nothing beats a hot cuppa joe from this local hipster java bar. Pluses: Amiable service, strong brew Negs: the end of street location and the tucked away view of the Metro-North-soiled view of the Hudson.

The owners of this great little coffee house are really into their beans! Really good, robust coffee available here. They clearly value quality over quantity, and it shows. Struck up a conversation with Nora, one of the owners, and got a windfall of information about the origin of their beans, growing conditions, and the difficulty in finding REAL organic coffee beans these days(only 1% of the world’s coffee is organic!). Strongtree even roasts their beans in-house, so they have full control over the flavor. It’s great to see small businesses with a passion for their product — we need more places like this and fewer chains in our country!

Stongtree, has a certain charm about it. Hudson itself sort of has a charm to it. I now live in Albany, NY but when I was in NYC I used to come to Hudson for day trips. Places like Strongtree offer a nice getaway. It’s not a mass machine filled with hurried people and coffee that’s always the same. There’s a lot of love that goes into what they serve here and how the place is kept.

New to coffee and wanted to buy some by the pound. I told the girl at the counter I wasn’t sure what I wanted and the owner came out and discussed different flavors with me. He clearly knew what he was talking about, but without being snobbish about it. He helped me pick a Guatemalan blend & told me if I didn’t like it I could return it. Pure professionalism! Never did have to return it, thought, because I loved it! Exact taste I was going for. Excellent service.

Took home a bag of «Brazil Doctor B Viennese Roast.» Ground it. What a wonderful smell! Really nice and smooth. As good as medium roast coffee gets.

Among the great additions to Hudson in the last several years. Coffee is top of the heap and the counter people are always sweet and happy to explain the different blends. Excellent coffee cake and cookies to. They roast the beans in the next room. Java doesn’t get fresher or better than this.

Hudson scored majorly when Strongtree moved in across the street from the Amtrak station. They roast their own beans and are ethically considerate not to mention the fact that their coffee is absolutely AMAZING! I love that while some of the patrons are obviously cool artists w/dreads/tattoos, etc., it’s a nice looking place — not messy/dirty/hippie-like as many coffee shops upstate tend to look. The feel is clean, there’s nice art on the walls, they play vinyl on the record player, yummy cookies and treats are on the counter, and there’s exceptional coffee which you can also purchase by the pound to make at home. We like their Nicaraguan, but its all excellent and the owners are happy to share their extensive knowledge. This past weekend I tried the Coco Mocha drink, a cold coffee drink w/chocolate bits — was like a dessert but not as fattening as those piggish drinks they serve at the large coffee chains. Strongtree is the kind of place you might want to move to Hudson for — just so you could get your fix all the time…

This is one of those coffee houses that has a little community of commuters and locals. When people walk thru the door, baristas and customers all shout«Norm!» even if the person entering who they know is not named«Norm». One man held his baby girl so she was dancing to the piped in world music. Coffee was pretty good as well and the baked goods looked recent and local. Very helpful when I asked for a bagel referral.

Ok… I am on the move AGAIN… finding work in my favorite, small-town, west-coast city of Portland was just not happening. I decided to follow my heart and move to Oakland for LOVE :) Good move. Once again I tried to sample the various locally roasted beans in this food/beverage-crazed area(great for my super sensitive taste buds but bad for my waistline) and once again STRONGTREEISTHEHANDS-DOWNWINNER!!! Without naming where I work, I will say I work in a food shop where we brew coffee. There is also a coffee shop in the same building so I have two options to drink two locally roasted coffees and both of them SUCK. It is pretty bad when you bring in your own grinder and beans to a place where you grind and brew coffee for your customers. I have a couple co-workers who I have brewed my Strongtree beans for and they LOVE my beans over the store beans. What can I say??? Their first response when sipping the coffee is «WOW…THISISVERYSMOOTHTASTINGCOFFEE.» That it is… smooth and FLAVORFUL! What is really impressive about Strongtree coffee is the expansive roasting levels of there beans. Most places have either French Roast or a Full City Roast. Strongtree isn’t afraid of varying their roasting process from Light to French and Espresso Roast and everything in between. Impressive! I just got a bag of India«Ramanand Biodynamic» light roast beans! Here is how Chris describes the flavor: Clean, full-bodied and rich apricot toned coffee with delightful aroma, subtle floral-citrus notes and caramel sweetness throughout the cup. Lovely long finish.” YUMMY! I am excited to try this coffee! I am still their Number 1 fan !!!

Love the coffee! I live in the gourmet coffee mecca of SF and I prefer their Strongtree roasts to anything out here. Chris is a master roaster. Live strongtree!

RUDESERVICE! Great Coffee On Sunday morning, 10/18, I had the misfortune of encountering an employee who could pass for a young John Malkovich with a baseball cap who mans the espresso machines in the back of the shop. I apparently changed my mind too many times in placing an order and was scolded for it. «WHAT’S YOURPROBLEM?» he said in a loud and angry voice in front of a line of customers, with a tone dripping with sarcasm and hostility. The other gentleman at the register could not have been nicer, however, and apologized for his co-worker’s rudeness. The employee stepped away and kept his back turned, making no attempt to explain his rude behavior. I guess caffeine and a line of customers is a volatile mixture when you’re working as a barista… I hear he has since been ‘let go’. I hope he finds other suitable employment, hopefully not in the service industry. The coffee, however, was exceptional.

Physically, a nice fresh feel to this coffee bar. A very welcome addition to the area. It’s also my new source for espresso beans, favorite being the Coco Mojo. Flavorful, rich and nuanced, even in a stovetop maker…

Strongtree is about the coffee and coffee doesn’t get any better than at Strongtree. I’ve lived in Hudson for nearly 25 years and have traveled the world along with a bazillion trips to NYC via the Amtrak station across the street. Oh how I wish I could replay the DVD and start everyone of them with a doppio, redeye or blackeye(or even a cup of dark roast brewed) from Strongtree. Paris? Milan? Rio? FUGETTABOUTIT! Strongtree’s coffee has displaced my memories of them all.(Admittedly, Hudson itself is an acquired taste, but so what now that we have a superb roaster and bar in town.) You will be disappointed in yourself if you don’t take a bag of Strongtree beans home with you. I am not a coffee aficionado, but if you are, Chris and Nora will enthrall with their knowledge. What twist of fate put them here? I don’t ask… I just sip and enjoy!

I can’t get the euphoria this coffee gave me out of my head.
