Super friendly service and very nice selection of cards(especially the blank inside kind) without being overwhelming huge. I also love the children’s gifts selection in the back room and hope to get over to do some custom stationery soon! Great gifts for those little occasions when you need something for an office mate or a token of appreciation, stocking stuffers, etc. Love this specialty shop!

Write Now! was one of the very few businesses that went out of their way to support the walkers of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this weekend. Thank you so much! There was a sign inviting us in for water and plenty of bottled water outside for the taking. I didn’t venture across the street simply because I was so close to the end. None the less, the efforts were greatly appreciated and introduced me to a business I may not have noticed driving by! Patron this business in appreciation for their support for Breast Cancer Awareness!

Yup, I’m trying to stay local too :) I’ve been wanting to come in here for awhile since Heights Life mentions it often on Facebook, and since I am on the hunt for the perfect guest book for a friend’s event, I hit up every store imaginable and ended up here today. To answer the immediate question, no, they didn’t have what I needed, but get this — she called an area store and found one for me. If that isn’t service with a smile and two capital Ss, I don’t know what is. For that reason alone, I will make sure to come back and support the store. Since I was running errands for that event, I couldn’t stay and play as long as I wanted, but I will be back soon because there are things I must have from there. There are a few stores popping up with this same sort of theme(cards, gifts, little craftiness) and I think what will keep some open while others don’t is service(done), products you can’t find anywhere else(which I think this one actually is offering, esp with the awesome clocks and stamps) and that little something-something. I think this can be that neighborhood store where you go to get that unique gift and I hope they are successful at making it a place where you can come in and make something(and hopefully stick around and make more). The stamps they had were so fun, I’m an avid stamper but don’t have access to Texas ones or Houston ones like that and I will be back for those, no doubt. I’d love to see that area expand, since I don’t buy many and that’s a lot of the store. The album clocks, the little clocks… go check them out.

What a wonderful new shop in the Heights! Be sure to stop by and check out their hilarious greeting cards, funky gifts, the alarm clock that you have to chase when it goes off in the morning and takes off from your nightstand(guaranteeing you’ll get out of bed to track it down) and some very nice pens! That’s right, writing pens. The owner has some very cool writing instruments for sale, which goes right along with the name of her shop! Check it out. I really enjoy it each time I go in to see what she has for sale.

Just in time for Christmas! I was in a rush to buy a card and I walked into a nearby grocery store – and immediately walked out. Then I remembered seeing this place on White Oak and Oxford. BUYLOCAL, KAREN a little Unilocal-angel screamed in my ear. They have an über-cute selection of cards. It’s a fun place to browse, too. I’m not talking about your tired, sad, old, hackneyed, trite, commonplace cards you find at a pharmacy or at the *ahem* store the local mall.(You know what I’m talking about.) You know, with the cheesy, bad humor that ends up on the floor with the wrapping paper. One might expect those to be «in» as «retro» in 50 years, but I plan to be dead by then so I have no need to stock up. They have a lot of different styles – Retro, chic, artsy, and funny(including humor for adults). The retro ones were the coolest – ranging from the 20’s(very Heights-y) to the Mad Men era. I was thrilled to see the Wizard of Oz cards, which I will have to bring with me the next time I see the Wizard. They had a nice selection of journals, as well, with gorgeous color and high quality paper stock. Wrapping paper, boxes, and designer pens. Nothing says chic like a well-presented gift or a cool card. So, next time you need to add a little class to a gift or in giving a card, head here! Yay local!
