One of my fav spots in H town. Overlooking the some of the minor flaws, u can’t beat the half price apps at happy hour!

Such a fun bar! Went to watch the Copa America 3rd place match and had a great time. Plenty of screens, fun crowd, AND they play commentary! The place was busy and bustling, and for how busy they were, our server did a great job. Did I mention they have a great beer selection as well? There’s also a Unilocal discount deal on appetizers if you check in on the app. So sad I just found about this place, and will definitely be coming back for more soccer matches.

This is a pretty good English neighborhood bar. If you go outside special events, it’s a pretty relaxed place to catch a game. I’ve been here for some crawfish boils and some soccer games. I’m not a huge fan when it’s packed. It’s not really their fault, but it becomes impossible to get a drink. Luckily the waiters try their best(even though it’s kind of a longer wait when it’s busy). Food is your typical bar food. Nothing mind blowing, but some good prices on their daily specials($ 7 burger and fries on Thursdays). Haven’t had an issue with it. Decent drink selection, prices are reasonable. If you’re looking for a chill night, you should drop by. PS — parking can be tough for events. Just park in the neighborhood behind the bar.

Amidst a large number of bars inside the loop, this is a very middle of the pack location. They have a dark, «upscale» interior and a very casual patio setting, all tucked on the corner of a small shopping center. Good luck finding parking, because every store has reserved spaces, and if there’s a game on, it’s almost guaranteed that every spot allocated to the bar is taken. Service is variable. On a couple of previous visits, it’s taken forever to get just a couple of drinks. On one visit, we were waiting over an hour for our food(thankfully the game went about 2 hours) and opted to cancel our order instead. On my most recent visit, there were a lot more waitresses and we were served much more quickly. There’s a large selection of beers, a well-stocked full bar, a permanent menu, and a rotating menu for special events. They have a good amount of televisions and a couple of projection screens that they pull down for big games. It’s a good location to catch a game, if you don’t mind the lack of parking or seating.

Phoenix is the perfect place to grab a drink and relax. Their food is delicious(fish tacos, hi) and the service is attentive and friendly. Not sure why it’s not a 4+ star place, but I love it.

Wasn’t very impressed with the food selection. A bit over priced for the amount of food you get. The staff was friendly but very slow. The best thing there was the beer. Not sure if I will be back to give another try.

Stopped in on a Sunday to have a drink and check it out. Wasn’t too crowded found a comfy chair and chilled. The service was great with bright smiles and helpfulness. My companion tried some craft beer and the waitress was great about letting her sample a couple before buying. Next time will try to get there early enough for the mimosas. Had a great time and will be back.

Have you ever stumbled upon a pub in your lifetime that makes you happy that you live where you do? As somebody residing just two short blocks from The Phoenix– that happiness has become a permanent part of my life. Need somewhere to go to wind down after a crappy day at a crappy job? The Phoenix has been there for me. Need a lot of ice cold Bud Lights to remind you just how refreshing beverages can be after a crappy day at a crappy job? The Phoenix has been there for me. Drink too many Bud Lights and need some delicious, beer-soaking food in your stomach to ensure that you survive the night so you can go have a crappy day at your crappy job? The Phoenix has been there for me. Friendly waitresses, bartenders who only make fun of you a little bit for drinking Bud Light, and an owner that cares about creating an atmosphere that welcomes his customers? Can’t ask for more than that from a bar – neighborhood or not. Ask for the bartender Dave if you like beer and friendship. Also, rumor has it that on Thursdays during Thursday Night Football, some guy with cool t-shirts will buy you a Bud Light if you are in need.

Great bar to watch soccer games and hang out with friends! Good selection of beers and on sat and Sunday have $ 3 mimosas and $ 4 bloody Mary’s! A great place to have watch parties and they carry their own micro-brew which is very tasty! A must try for all sports lovers!

The place is just ok. Is just somewhere you can go play pool and watch sports. The food is a 6 of 10 and the beers are 9 of 10. Good beer selection that’s the best part of it. Fridays they have a good deal in beer, although I not a beer drinker, my friends usually enjoy it. If you are hungry always ask for the fish and chips. That’s the best thinks otherwise just ask for a burger. And in fridays Fish and chips are 6 dlls special! Plus the service is good the waitress are really nice. One of my friends she gotta took her baby and they even got for her a free water and cup for the baby.

This place has been hit or miss the last few times I’ve been here. I’ve always enjoyed this place but the service has gone through some changes or reworkings that need some serious help

It’s a nice pub and a decent place to watch a game if it’s something everybody can agree on given that there aren’t that many of them. There is plenty of free parking which is also nice and drink prices are reasonable so overall it’s a decent neighborhood pub. I guess for me, there wasn’t anything too remarkable about it however and if you blind folded me and put me there, I couldn’t tell you whether I was there, Doc’s, or somewhere else. Everybody who worked there was very nice however.

I hate to give this place three stars because the waiters were very attentive. I had a veggie burger in which the pattie was too spicy. I don’t know why cooks have to make falafel and veggie patties spicy. Is it to hide the bland taste? I don’t remember seeing on the menu anything about it being this way. However, the burger was big and the fries were very good. My friend did like her chicken picatta. We went there with a Groupon, worth $ 20. I still ended up paying $ 17 more and all we had were two entrees and we shared a brownie. I wouldn’t have ordered the brownie if I would have known it’s $ 8. While it was good, it had a butterscotch syrup which I don’t like.

I was in H-Town visiting a friend and this happened to be the nearest pub. We decided to jaunt on down and drink some beers! We walked in and the place seemed very much like an average sports bar. TV’s blaring the game everywhere and the like. I’m not much for sports except for MMA so that didn’t really impress me. They did however have a huge selection of draft craft beer, which is something I can totally get with! I also noticed they had house beers it looked like three variety’s unfortunately one was out and all they had was a Red Ale and IPA. I gave the Red Ale a try and couldn’t help but notice it seemed flat. tasted my friends IPA and it was sort of on the flat side too. The beer was at least easy to drink and I don’t think it would have been so bad had it just had a bit more carbonation. I decided not to take any chances with the house beer and ordered a Karbach Sympathy for the Lager which is a favorite of mine and I know to always be great. Unfortunately it turned out to be somewhat flat too. At this point I become convinced that the problem had to do with the CO2 on their draft system. We hung out for a while and kept drinking and our tabs were reasonable so at least the prices seem good here. If I’m in the area again I will go back and give them another shot I’d like to try the food menu and I hope they get the problem with their draft beers resolved.

I’m not impressed with this place ATALL. The only reason I’m giving it one star at all is because they had every football game imaginable on big screen. The quality of service was absolutely horrible. Our server seemed to be completely uninterested with doing his job correctly. When asking for a suggestion of best items on the menu, he was completely uninformative. He wasn’t educated on the beer selection at all nor any menu items. The food quality was crap. Just overall a bad experience. There are so many better places in Houston to grab a decent bite and watch the game. Skip this place. Not worth the $ 50 I spent.

Marquis out front said to view rugby games here. Great! We would like to. This morning(Sunday) we stop in to watch the French game and were told«Oh no, we aren’t broadcasting any of the international games.» Um … Okay? «BUT» says the bartender, «We’ll be showing the US game later.» Great! Come back later and ask the other bartender which screen has the rugby game. «We aren’t showing any games except the US game». Great! It’s the US game showing right now. «Oh no,» he says, «I have too many other games going right now and I can’t change the channel.» Okay… I asked why do you have a sign out front saying, Watch Rugby Here? Shrug. Thanks buddy! Off to Springbok.

Heysee gave us the best service!!! I’m visiting from Dallas and saw great reviews about Phoenix so I expected the food to be good which it was great and I’m glad I stopped by. If you’re in the area stop by, this atmosphere is great, staff is great, and the food was great and reasonably priced.

Speedy service and a great location– right I the middle of Montrose. A Sunday night Game of Thrones viewing drew us in, and it was a pleasant experience! I am a fan of cider, and many varieties are offered. Square Mile was more bitter than ciders usually are, but I appreciated the tart taste. We shared nachos– these were just okay. I very much enjoyed the thick chips and toppings, but I desired a bit more cheese, as the nachos were quite dry. Sunday nights fill up quite well, so arrive early if you want a seat. The Phoenix has great management and other tasty choices– fish+chips were my favorite in the past– so I look forward to more summer nights here!

After bad service in the past at Phoenix I was hesitant to watch Game 5 here on Tuesday… But it was great! Drink and food orders taken in a timely manner and food delivered promptly. We sat in front of the big screen until the end. The cons: Wings aren’t THAT great No wet wipes on tables Smoke from patios freely flows in Limited parking, esp on game nights

No more«Firkin», just The Phoenix is left here. I’m not sure that it makes a lot of difference. It’s still a decent place to catch the game and some drinks. Service was pretty good and we had no problem with splitting checks. The food is ok — lots of typical bar fare and some pub inspired dishes. The 2 things I tried that actually surprisingly good were the sausage rolls(meat stuffed pastry with au jus) and the Hunter’s Pie(their version of Shepherd’s Pie). We got there early for the Texans game which was good, since it filled up pretty soon thereafter. Restrooms were decent.
