Not to say the food is bad, but it’s pretty mediocre for the cost. I was less impressed with the savory than the sweet, and I don’t think the overall price justifies only eating dessert.

Service is excellent! The staff is always positive and helpful, they also make an effort to connect to you personally(they aren’t robots). Food is excellent and there is plenty of it. I did the four course dinner and every piece of it was very well seasoned and had great flavor. The only complaint is that it’s a little expensive but you get tons of food. Would recommend for a special occasion or romantic date.

Melting pot is a great restaurant for anyone who wants to explore. It has everything to do with cheese and chocolate so makes sure your not on a diet. We were hoping to go for dinner and had made reservations but never got called so we decided to come back for desserts. Chocolate fondue was great and my first. I felt the ambience to be a bit dingy and dark rest was ok.

Right off the bat, the one big negative for this place is that it really needs to be updated bad!!! The price point is higher, but the outdated ambiance & needing repair booths definitely do not reflect it. This place has a menu that might overwhelm you, so many choices. You can do the set menu of picking four of each category or just pick and choose off the menu as you like. On the pick for you pick the cheese dip, the salad, the entrée, and the chocolate dip dessert. I am normally a big eater, but felt a little full so my date recommended we split one of the pick 4. We had another couple with us and they decided to do the same thing. It was a great idea because it was a lot of food, and on the cheese dip you can get refills of all the bread and veggies, on the main course as much of the veggies, and on the chocolate dessert as much of the dippers as well. You must also choose the broth for cooking your entrée, we just went with the standard broth and it was great. I have to say the mushrooms were my favorite of all the entrée items(and I am more a carnivore). We added the lobster tail to the entrée as well, it was a nice add on. Doing the pick four made it much more reasonable as well. With having two glasses of wine and the pick four, the bill was just over $ 70 without tip. Had we each gotten it, it would have been over $ 100 without tip. The service was excellent, but our service mumbled a lot. I think he had been doing his shtick so many years, he just didn’t feel like saying it anymore. If you are the type that does not like to «cook» your own food at a restaurant, this is definitely not the place for you. It is a fun social place, that is great for a date. The food was fresh and delicious, but not super healthy(at least the cheese & chocolate dip portions) Will I return? Definitley, but it is more of a once or twice a year kind of place.

A group of 8 friends visited for an evening together, most of which are repeat visitors. Our waiter, Brian, did a great job getting us through the menu, and even suggested a beer that wasnt on the menu, which I enjoyed 3. We had two pots for 8, thankfully we are all easy going. The cheese that had raclet and nutmeg was not our favorite, the spinach artichoke was the better choice. The nutmeg may have just been a bit roi much. The salads didnt seem to be anything spectacular, just a good time filler between cheese and main course. I had filet mignon and tenderloin. The meat was nice and fresh I liked it with the mojo pot and gorgonzola cheese. I just dont know how fond I am if 4 people in one pot, we had a difficult time getting everything cooked before the juice was used or evaporated. The bananas foster dessert was the highlight of the meal. All of the dipped foods made great sense with the chocolate except for the pineapple, which was a little odd. Prepare for a long meal with people you enjoy. This is more of an experience than a sit down and fill yourself fast meal. I would consider coming back for dessert and a drink for sure with my wife or even back for a full meal with a group of friends

I came to The Melting Pot a few months ago for the first time with a group of friends from events and adventures and my experience here was excellent! As soon as we arrived, we were seated at a table for 6. Our host was excellent. He explained the process to the new people(including me) and made great recommendations. The service was quick and the food was delicious. I do you recommend this place for group events.

First off the managing staff was horrible. Not only were they rude but unaccommodating and unhelpful. The waitstaff was uninformed about wine and their menu. The fondue was good, but no reason to go with the rest of the nonsense. We were so disappointed and I hope no one else has to have this experience. A little more on the manager: I had made a reservation on opentable and requested a nice table on a Sunday night. We were sat in this dinky two top right next to the kitchen all the way in the back where it was very loud and isolating. I then had asked the manager if we could move to a different table maybe in the main dinning area since I had put in the request. All he said was«I read your request». So then I asked then can we please move tables and he didn’t respond, but he started walking ahead with menus, went to our current table PICKEDUPMYPURSE and moved it to the new table, still didn’t say a word to us and never asked«is this table good for you?»; he put my stuff down and walked off. I have never had a waiter, hostess, never mind manager touch my property without asking and have such poor manners. Such a horrible representation of the restaurant and a horrible experience dinning here.

Decided to travel to Houston with my wife and kids to attend a Christmas production. As the trip came together we wanted to dress our school age children into nice clothes and make it a nice night. I decided on The Melting Pot because we wanted to do something fun and different. Unlike some of the other reviews we weren’t bothered that the Melting Pot was in a strip mall or a «questionable neighborhood». We found the experience to be fun. The food was actually really good. I had the Deep South Tea and it was excellent. My wife had the Yin Yang, it was more like a milkshake… who complains about a milkshake with alcohol? Shockingly, the service left a lot to be desired. To be clear, was the service bad? No, it wasn’t. However, given the gimmicky nature of the experience and the fact that we’re cooking all our own food, the service should be crazy good. I made a reservation and told them that we had an event to get to and they said they would give us a table with two burners to ensure we got out in time. When we walked in we weren’t greeted by a smile. The five of us were ushered to a 4 person booth with a single burner. We sat down and quickly realized it was going to be much too cramped. My wife kindly asked about a 2 burner table and they quickly moved us, thanks! We told our server this was our first time at The Melting Pot and assumed she would give us a good explanation of how things worked. It was 4:30pm so I can’t imagine she was in a big hurry but she sped through things and we basically had to figure things out on our own. Our salads were forgotten about, no big deal, she apologized and corrected things quickly. The server was patient and helpful with the kids which was nice. I guess we expected the service at the Melting Pot to be more like a Morton’s and less like a Chili’s. In the end, the price was exactly what I expected so I can’t complain that I didn’t know. However, given the final bill I think the service could be improved on. I did read a review that said, skip the meal and go for dessert only. I 100% agree. The best part of the meal was dessert. I would go back to The Melting Pot and I think I could even be talked into a 4 star review if the service went from a 5 to a 7 – 8. The only other thought I had would be about bringing kids to a place like this. I didn’t see much about that. Our kids are 6, 8, &9. I wouldn’t take kids any younger but this age did well and enjoyed this concept. They got a little rowdy a couple of times but they pulled it together when the next course came around. If you want to avoid a spot that’s just order and serve and give your kids something cool and different this is a perfect way to go.

Excellent restaurant. Came here during Houston restaurant week. Service was very good and food was delicious. The funnest thing about the restaurant is the whole experience of cooking your own food. Baked potato fondue was so good. Would highly recommend as a place for dates.

I’ve been to The Melting Pot several times and finally remembered to write a review. The Melting Pot is a great date spot and the company knows it. If you’ve never had fondue, it’s a dining experience. If you have, you’re sharing food which makes it romantic. The dim lights and booths add to the ambiance. We decided to avoid the meat fondue and stuck with just the cheese fondue and the dessert fondue. If you go for the four course experience, it’s an obscene amount of food in my opinion and fondue is not something you can take to-go in a doggy bag so here we are. There are a number of cheese fondue choices: we went with the Alpine which has fontina, black pepper, and two other cheeses which I can’t recall. They give you a bunch of dippers including bread(regular and wheat), sliced apples, and a variety of veggies including broccoli. For the dessert fondue, we went simple and got the milk chocolate fondue which also comes with a bunch of dippers: strawberries, bananas, pineapple, brownies, two different types of marshmallows, chocolate chip cookie bars, pound cake, and a couple others I can’t remember. The service was great, our waiter was hilarious and had a bunch of good one-liners. He even referred to himself as The Terminator! The Melting Pot is on the pricier end and the lemonades was overpriced in my opinion. $ 5.25 for a blackberry lemonade, even if it’s homemade, is pretty high in my book.

Came for happy hour dinner with 2 girlfriends, and we ordered cheese for 2, chocolate for 2, and the speciality platters for both — and we struggled to finish! Dippers are unlimited, making this an incredible steal. Always a great experience and a lot of fun to bond with friends over fondue. Fave was the beautifully presented yin and yang fondue with white and dark fondue. Also really liked all the dessert dippers, particularly the white blondie and cheesecake(specialty). Waitstaff was attentive but not overbearing, and they were generous with dippers. Will be back soon!

This place is amazing for their happy hour. $ 5 cheese and chocolate? Yes please! The service is impeccable, the ambience dim and classy. I came here for my birthday and the waiter not only had a lit candle on the dessert platter, but a birthday card. Service really makes or breaks a place for me, and the service here was wonderful. Highly recommend for a birthday dinner. If you like cheese and chocolate this is the place to go! It’s good for one-on-ones as well as larger groups. Plus, dipping your assorted vegetables, bread, meats, cake into the pot is part of the fun experience.

This is such a fun place to go to for a date night with your significant other or your girls! Our server was very informative and offered recommendations for my first time here. And i did enjoy watching our server prepare our cheese fondue and our chocolate fondue haha. you can get the 4 course experience and be full without adding extra things. i regret getting extra dippers, adding a lobster tail and different cooking style. loaded baked potato cheddar cheese fondue — i would totally get this again because i loved the potatoes at the bottom and the bits of bacon mixed in this cheesy goodness. comes with bread and vegetables for dipping premium cheese fondue dippers — dipping these different types of meat were delicious, but i definitely feel like i could have done fine without adding this. $ 3.50 per plate the melting pot house salad — although it was a pretty average salad, it was a good salad! land & sea — filet mignon and herb-crusted chicken i felt like didn’t have much flavor. loved the shrimp though. french quarter — this is exactly like the land & sea but it comes with andouille sausage and shrimp seasoned with cajun spices. so i thought this would be spicy, but it wasn’t at all. it was just the more flavorful version of the land and sea with added sausages. so i would get this if i were to come back versus the land & sea for the same price cold water lobster tail — kind of small, but i was already so full it could barely enjoy it. i don’t think i would add this again for $ 11.95 mojo cooking style — i honestly felt like i could have done the complimentary cooking style and i don’t think i would have noticed. this was an extra $ 4.95 flaming turtle chocolate fondue — by this i was really really full but watching it go into flames was actually really cool as i stuffed my face with fruits and cakes. texas tea $ 6.95 — it was pretty good and not that strong at all. would get again though overall it was nice experience, but it’s not a restaurant that would be a new regular spot, maybe just somewhere to go every once in awhile and i’d definitely stick to the 4 course meal with no extra stuff. the main course wasn’t as appealing as the cheese/chocolate fondue but the whole concept of dipping was fun for a date night.

A cool concept and overall fun restaurant. Pros: Food is delicious. The menu has a wide variety of choices. You cook your own food so it will(hopefully) always be cooked to your specification. They have a nice happy hour menu — both drinks and food. Cons: Unless you have a large group you have one pot. That means everyone has to agree on the same cooking style, the same cheese, and the same dessert. Also the pot is not big enough for two people or more. Each person gets 3 sticks to cook your food and there is not enough room for all and the potatoes and side items. The plates they give you to eat off are too small and have too may compartments. The sides and the sauces they provide you, are never enough and you have to keep asking for more. A fun experience once in a while but overall not worth the price and hassle.

Okay, so they’re a chain. Okay, so they’re a gimmick. All right, you have to cook your own food… …who cares? It’s fun. It’s a great place to go if you want to take your whole family and sit around and laugh and catch up and visit with folks from out of town but still have something to do with your hands: Hold your fondue forks! And honestly, the cuts of meat and seafood they use are pretty good quality. I like the flavored broths(though I think it’s silly they charge so much for adding flavoring to the broth when you’re already paying premium prices for the food itself). I also really miss the Big Night Out menus that used to change every six months or so. I wish they would do that again. When they do the unlimited fondue, that’s the best value for going to The Melting Pot. And you have to try The Melting Pot seasoning product they have. It’s so good and it’s good on anything. Mostly garlic, lots of flavor, and we use it at home(you can even buy it on the website.) I love the cheese fondues, but they almost all have some type of alcohol in them as their base, and my son hates them. Their salads are good. Their entrees are good. And my bestie loves the chocolate fondue. We love their drinks, but they are a bit pricey. Even so, they are well mixed, tasty. We’ve had several different ones, and we’ve liked them all. Their Irish Coffee is quite good and goes great with the crème brûlée chocolate fondue or the turtle… yummm, turtle. If you’re a vegetarian, don’t worry. They let you have unlimited veggies to dip in the broths, such as cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, apples, potatoes, mushrooms, etc. There’s even a vegetarian plate you can order, and if you get a four-top table, you can have your own broth without having to share with the meat eaters at your table. The vegetables and the dessert dippers are all unlimited and free with your meal. A lot of folks don’t know that so they don’t think to ask for more. We always ask for more apples and carrots to dip in the cheese too. The best way to eat cheaply at The Melting Pot, because they can be a little pricey on their regular menu, is to sign up for the e-newsletter, and pay attention to their specials. They have a girls’ night out and a guys’ night out and a teachers’ night and an bottomless fondue night(all you can eat), and movie nights and all sorts of special events, where they offer three or four-course meals for almost half of what the menu prices are. The décor is clean. The waitstaff is usually spot-on with service. We’ve had a few ‘new’ waiters who weren’t 100%, but most of the time, the service is impeccable and efficient. We’ve had the burners on the table malfunction twice on two different visits, but even when they fixed it relatively quickly(who knew the entire thing lifts out and a new one can be put in its place?) they still offered us discounts on our ticket for the trouble. Excellent customer satisfaction attempts. It’s one of those places we don’t think to go to that often – and it is almost an hour’s drive for us to get to it here in the ‘burbs – but when my family comes to visit, it’s the first place we think to go together, because it’s fun and the food is good, and we can visit and have never felt rushed! As for accessibility: it’s a little bit awkward maneuvering down the aisles there, and with the wheelchair, there are only a few places that you can comfortably get a chair into the ‘booth’ type environment, so be sure that you let them know clearly on your reservation that you’re bringing a wheelchair, but besides that, the rest of it is easily accessible. The parking is nice for wheelchairs, right up front with a good ramp that is properly sloped and management is very accommodating if you having any issues.

Think it’s about time to update my review since they no longer have the Big Night Out, which is unfortunate because we really enjoyed this! We came here last night(Christmas Eve) for their 3 course menu. We showed up about 30 minutes early and had a seat at the bar to enjoy a drink. I ordered the Fiery Pineapple Margarita, which was very tasty! It did take the 2 bartenders a few minutes to offer us a menu, even though there was only 1 other person sitting at the bar. Odd. We were seated about 15 minutes early because the place really wasn’t crowded, however, that soon changed and it started to show in the ultra slow service. Our waiter, who shall remain nameless, took about 15 minutes to show up at our table after we were seated … so no water, nothing was offered to us during this time. Our normal waiter, Herron, came by to say hello(we would have requested him but last time we were there, he was no longer waiting tables, so we had no idea he was waiting tables again). He did tell us that our waiter was new … well come to find out, he just moved to Houston the week before. LOL. Once we did get our drinks, now 35 minutes after we were seated, our waiter took our food order. From this point forward, I am going to blame the slow process solely on the kitchen, as I used another table who ordered right before us(but had a different waiter) as my gauge on when our stuff should arrive. Even they had a lengthy wait. Maybe Melting Pot underestimated how many employees they needed or maybe some didn’t show up … don’t know but since it’s reservation preferred, they should know exactly how many people they need working. The meats were fine when it arrived, pretty much what we always get. However, the starter fondue, which is the cheese, was SUPER thick to the extent that it was almost impossible to work with(this normally happens when it’s been sitting for a while but it was like this from the get-go). I was disappointed that the Coq Au Vin cooking style was an extra $ 6. Not a lot of money but still surprising to me … Lastly, the dessert was extra, which was fine because we didn’t want it, but it was included in the Big Night Out that they use to offer. So we had our Melting Pot fill(it’s been well over a year since we have been here) and we can comfortably say it will be well over another year before we return.
