The Best Little Dog House In Texas

I’ve had a tough time finding a great groomer here in Houston that consistently does a great job. After reviewing this place on Unilocal,I decided to give Ron a try. He did a GREAT job! I took in a picture, told him my concerns and when he called me (as he promised he would) after my baby was ready, I was so happy! I will definitely take my baby here again. All of the dogs in daycare looked relaxed and well taken care of when I was there to drop off and pick up. Thank you guys for being my new groomer.

I will admit that I am super picky and beyond particular when it comes to getting my dog (s) groomed, I’ll even admit to being that person who has demanded money back after a shoddy job. Needless to say it has been a struggle to find a groomer in Houston that *consistently* has good results — until I came to The Best Little Dog House. My dog has been here several times over the past year and I am always impressed with the attention to detail. Ron, who I believe is the owner, is professional, calm, and really seems to enjoy his 4-​legged «clients». A few weeks ago we arrived for our scheduled appointment, only to find out there was a mix-​up and the groomer was not in that day — but instead of putting the burden on us to figure out, Ron made a special trip up to the facility that day to fulfill the appointment. Talk about customer satisfaction! Truly going above and beyond. Additionally, they also provide doggie day care, so I don’t mind paying a little extra for my very active poodle to get in some social/​play time before his cut so we can all rest happy at home that evening. My favorite part is the little scarf he adds around the dog’s neck :) Highly recommend! (I rarely do Unilocal reviews, but this place has earned 10 stars in my book!)

Dropped my Pomeranian off for a haircut. Most places I called were booked for a few days. They were able to get me in last minute. They were detailed with how they would groom my dog. It took a few hours which was fine. Dropped him off around 7:45 and picked him up around 1:45. Overall the haircut is good. I’ve had better. He has a weird skirt thing of his hair. Hard to explain. They shaved him but left all his stomach hair long. I appreciate it was brushed out and clean but weird. Something we will have to fix at home. I was quoted $ 55 which included the $ 10 extra for teeth brushing. When I picked him up it was $ 60. I didn’t say anything but didn’t give an extra star either. The dogs there for daycare looked relaxed. They were inside and a tv was on for them.

I’ve been taking my Yorkie to BLDHIT since this summer. I’ve had an excellent experience here! My dog is always excited to run inside. The staff is fantastic and have been really flexible when I’m running late from work or have to board my dog at the last minute. Ron even runs outside to get my dog when it’s raining! I highly recommend daycare, boarding and grooming here. They are so sweet to my dog and have made my life much easier by being flexible with my crazy work hours.

The daycare might be fine but I would NOT recommend this place for grooming. I took my 5 month old puppy here for his first grooming in December, I dropped him off in the morning and told them what time I would arrive that evening to pick him up and when I arrived they told me he had only just got a bath and wouldn’t be ready for another hour. When I went back to pick him up, they handed him straight to me (without allowing him to walk on his own in front of me) and when I got home he was limping so badly that he would not put any weight at all on one of his back legs. I looked closely and one of his toenails was completely split down the middle from the groomer «filing» them way too short and carelessly. I called and told the front desk what had happened and they insisted that it must have been my dogs fault for probably playing too rough with the other dogs during the day and that his limp could not have been from a toenail. I took him back in the next day to show them and all they said was «Wow that is a really bad limp» and kept taking the blame off of themselves and insisting it was not a toenail problem. This limp lasted for almost 2 weeks and I was never contacted again for any sort of appology or at least a refund for the new patient evaluation charge since I will DEFINITELY not be bringing my dog back here.

This review is for the dog walking service affiliated with The Best Little Dog House. Since July I on average use his services 5 days per week. Can’t say enough positive things about them. They provide update texts post walks some with photos, are very reliable & flexible and the price can’t be beat.

Always receive the best service at this place… each time (3x so far) the groomer comes out to ask me to explain exactly what I want done. Also this is the nicest groomers I have seen… you should really see how they have decorated and sent up this pet salon!

After almost a year of just my girlfriend and I grooming our Shih Tzu mix we decided it was time for a close up professional haircut. After all it’s going to be 90+ degrees for at least the next two months. We’ve never had a great experience with groomers, whether at Petco or an individual recommendation, so I read some reviews on this place and decided to give it a shot.
Trying to get the appointment scheduled was a bit more complicated than I would of liked but after 2 days of confusion we got him in there. Part of that was on me because I didn’t want to leave our dog there all day. I just wanted to drop him off and come get him right after he was done.
I must say Ron did an excellent job grooming the little dude. I’ve cut him plenty of times and I know from experience he’s not the most cooperative dog but somehow Ron pulled it off. So glad to finally find a groomer who knows what they’re doing. Highly recommend Ron, just schedule it in advance and confirm before you go. This place also looks like a great day care spot.

Ron is our groomer and at least once a week our pups get a bath. They get sent home with pictures and bandannas on…, So cute. They really take great care of my little ones. We just started using their day-​care service and I’m just as happy with the friendly service and the great care my pups get. I know the pups love it to. I feel very safe leaving my pups, Desi and Lucy with Ron and everyone that works with him. Thanks so much and two big woofs.

I’ve taken my dog here several times now and I always feel very comfortable that my dog is going to be well taken care of. The staff are very friendly and work with you if you have scheduling issues (I once had to last minute overnight board because my evening meetings ran long).
The space is very cute and does feel like a little doggy home. The front room has a sofa and TV, and then there’s a back yard where they can run around and play.
The boarding rates are a little higher than other places, but it’s like your dog is just doing a sleep over at someone else’s house versus having them in a small cage for days on end.
I would recommend bringing your pet here– you won’t be disappointed.

After reading Unilocal reviews about this place I was convinced to give this place a shot. Sure, the service was mediocre, but if you’re expecting to get your dog pampered and fully groomed then I would recommend going some place else. Preferably to a certified groomer for one.
Ron quoted me $ 45 over the phone to have my small dog trimmed up and nicely groomed. Then convinced me to have «spa nails» done for $ 15 more. Meaning that they file the nails down instead of cutting them. Then charged me another $ 10 to have her teeth brushed. All of which I did not mind paying until I came back to pick up my dog only to realize that she was not shampoo’d or even sprayed with cologne if that. She literally smelt just like she did when I brought her in! Not only that, a patch of her hair on her «forehead» was completely buzzed off and noticeably uneven from the rest of the hair on her face.
Honestly if I had known any better, I would have shampoo’d and cut my own dog’s hair and it would have been 10x better. And Ron must have known I was going to be unhappy with the cut because he «left» early right after.
I really hate to give a bad review, but this needed to be addressed.

I brought my pup rover here for a grooming yesterday. Everything seemed to go well until I got home and realized that the groomer had cut way too close to the skin on his stomach. He has been whimpering when he walks due to the irritation and has multiple rashes from the razor. It would have been nice if they had at least said something about out it.

This place was and is perfect for me and my pups! With my busy schedule I always said I wish I could find a groomer open on Sunday’s. Well look no further. I recently moved to Houston and have two shih tzu pups, one who loves to be groomed the other not so much. Mr. Ron the groomer was beyond great. He called me even after I had dropped my dog off just to give me another suggestion on another grooming option he preferred with my dog. I was able to drop him off and he was ready less than 3 hours later. Hands down I’ve found my groomer.

My experience at the Best Little Dog House in Texas couldn’t have been better. I dropped off my pup for her first ever grooming session since I adopted her from a rescue and I was pretty nervous, as was she. But the staff, particularly Chloe, Ron, and the owners could not have been sweeter. They responded to my email questions late at night the night before and they kept me posted throughout her stay at Best Little. Ron, the groomer, couldn’t have been gentler with my baby. He was sweet, calm, and patient with her and she ended up with a great haircut courtesy of Ron that we both loved. Chloe was sweet and patient with me and my pup, and the owners couldn’t have been more communicative. It was great experience and I would highly recommend Ron’s grooming service (he’s been doing it for 30 years and is great with dogs) as well as Best Little’s doggie day care. I haven’t tried their boarding service yet but if I needed boarding I certainly would take my dog there!

I am shocked more people are not reviewing this place because of how great they take care of your «little dog.» I was extrememly nervous about taking my little maltese, Sophie, anywhere for daycare. The reviews had me horrified at other places… dogs being bitten, let loose, kennelled all day, etc. After a short phone convo and Marissa letting me know that she would stay a few extra minutes to meet Sophie in the morning (even though she had worked all night) I was pleased with what I was hearing. Super cute little house on w. gray that caters to smaller dogs only. I love that because sophie is a sweet heart who is scared of bigger dogs. It was clean and Marissa was more than friendly.
Now, 3 weeks of taking Sophie here, I absolutely love it. The staff is wonderful, the pricing was very reasonable and I get a sweet picture of my little girl for every holiday! I get why no one is reviewing, we dont want to let the secret out on this little gem! However, if you have a little dog that needs a couple days out of the kennel this is the only place I would recommend. Thanks for taking great care of my little girl.

My yorkie LOVES The Best «Little Dog» House in Texas. She only gets to go about once a week or so. So our normal morning routine involves me getting ready for work and her hiding to pout, so she never comes to me when I call because she knows it is to say goodbye. But when I say «Want to go to Daycare?» she comes running and jumps up into her «get ready» spot.
All the staff I have met is great! And they seem to do a great job of temperament tests because all the dogs there seem great. I was a little nervous since Somi is only 4 pounds about bigger dogs, but all of the bigger ones are super sweet and gentle. I take her so she can socialize with other dogs, but she loves to be carried around so much that I have heard they have a bag for her while she is there too. (She loves being carried in a bag!)
The place is always clean and never smells, which is crazy considering there are lots of dogs there all day everyday, but makes it even nicer seeming. It is in a little house, so it makes it seem very homey and nice. If you board them overnight, someone stays overnight with them which is so much better then them sitting in a kennel (or even personal room) alone.
They are also reasonably priced. $ 25 a day if you pay per day, and if you pay for 30 days in advance it is about $ 17.50. Much better than other places I looked that can go up to $ 35 – 40 a day.
I would definitely recommend! :)
My only criticism would be that they need to be more active online (Facebook etc.) since everything is going tech these days, they might start losing people without it.

sad to say i have to write the updated review. :(
when i brought little man to TBLDHIT, he was still a pup, which means he wasn’t full grown. and by full grown i mean 40 pounds. but i had been bringing riggs to daycare for about 4 months. 3 to 4 times a week at 25 dollars a day. i had built a relationship with most of the people that worked there, had them bathe riggs and thought we were in this for the long haul. well i was hit with a ton a bricks one friday afternoon when i went to pick little man up.
i went in just like any other day with my 25 cash in hand. i get my dog, hand over the cash, and the super awkward kid working that day proceeds to tell me, «the owner said you can’t bring your dog here anymore. he has outgrown us».
and that was it! no sorry, no nothing. i at least expected one of the managers to tell me. not make some poor awkward employee do the dirty work. it left a very sour taste in my mouth and i would caution people to think twice before taking their pooches here. you never know when you are no longer welcome.

I have been all over Houston trying to find the right place to leave my Cowboy. He was a rescue so I feel guilty about putting him in a kennel. I love this place! They are so loving and kind and great with all the dogs! It is a really cute place too! I had peace of mind for a change!

My little pooch Charlie [and I] love The Best Little Dog House in Texas :] Michelle, the owner, is a dream! I found out about this wonderful business from my boss one day at work when she had mentioned she had taken her dog Tessa for daycare and that she had had a blast. I popped in [kind of in a rush] and felt terrible for showing up without giving a call before hand, but Michelle was so accommodating and didn’t even hesitate when I asked if Charlie could stay for daycare!
The little house itself is decorated beyond adorable [Michelle said she was inspired by Hotel ZaZa], and I really love how you can see the dogs right when you show up! They also sell all kinds of yummy treats for your pooch right up front, if you so desire!
I picked him up after class and although he was happy to see his Mama I could tell he had fun, and Michelle told me all about his day playing with a new friend and enjoying his treats, etc. I felt so great and really relieved because I just want my little boy to have fun when I’m not around!
I dropped him off again today because I wanted to run a few errands and didn’t want him to be alone at home, and Michelle [and her husband we we saw on the way in] was so excited to see Charlie and even suggested a friend for him right away! When I picked him up I saw my boss’ dogs there with a bunch of other happy dogs. After paying, Michelle handed me a hand written note about Charlie’s day with a picture of him and his favorite toy there… SO PRECIOUS! Michelle and The Best Little Dog House in Texas have won my heart!
As I write this little Charlie is passed out in my lap, very very tired after his fabulously fun day!

How exciting to go to a place where your Little (or big) Pet is so welcomed and loved! AND gets a treat from the Bakery! I recommend Best Little Dog House in Texas to everyone in Houston! Tracy & Michelle have made this place a warm and inviting place for pets and for owners. Great job to you both! Looking forward to bringing in Elektra soon !
