One the more obscure food trucks in Houston. I love their beef tacos and quesadillas. You can even get a whole frakkin’ chicken w/all the trimmings for ten bucks. Adorn it w/some green sauce and you’re all set. HIghly recommended if you happen to be passing through. No credit cards but hangovers are accepted.

This is one of my favorite taco trucks in Houston. It is the old school kind of food truck, certainly not gourmet, but undoubtedly delicious. Pull off of the main road(Bellaire) and onto Renwick, then turn into the Renwick Washateria on Dashwood. Simple enough? No? It is right behind the shopping center that houses Tacos La Bala, Planned Parenthood, and the 99 Cent Store. Still? Well then just use the GPS… I’ve been twice on days when I found myself cutting through Bellaire near lunch time(admittedly, I once had both Tacos La Bala and Tacos Mapache #4 in a 45-minute span. I’m not proud of it, but I’m also not ashamed of it). The nice lady will put up with your broken Spanish, but will also speak perfectly-clear English. But a taco truck, in the parking lot of a lavandería, on an off-street? That always seemed like a great place to dust off the 2nd language. The tortas are huge and pretty cheap. I always stick with the beef fajita. The tacos are the star of the show here though. I loved the barbacoa. I’m still learning to love lengua, but this was a very fine version. The Al Pastor were a little different, can’t really put my finger on how, but were very good. I also liked both the red and green salsas quite a lot. Oh, and Mapache means raccoon, but I think it refers more to the fact that these are a steal than to the fact that they use raccoon meat… I think.
