I had Surface Systems of Texas coat my garage floor with epoxy/flake/polyurethane and they did excellent work! The floor turned out great and I am very happy with the result. I did a lot of research before selecting a product and company to install it and overall I think this is the best option if you are in the Houston area. Surface Systems did full preparation on the concrete including diamond grinding, cleaning up and rounded edges where needed and patching holes/cracks in the concrete. They then clean up the area, lay down the epoxy, broadcast chips to refusal and top coat with polyurethane once the epoxy has cured and the chips have been cleaned up/scraped. Some notes: I am perfectionist and can tend to be critical on details. I was present when my floor was installed and helped the installers inspect the floor and verify that all imperfections were filled and high spots were scraped/ground. I did have to point a few things out that I wanted them to tend to. I also ‘helped’ them look for any areas that may have been low on chips or missed when the polyurethane was rolled on. The floor would have turned out just fine without intervention, but if you are also a perfectionist then I would suggest being present. They were super easy to work with though and had no issue with me pointing things out. Additionally: The polyurethane has a VERY strong odor and will likely have a negative impact on anyone overly exposed to it. The inside doors to your home will need to be sealed/taped and you will want to keep the roll-up door open as much as possible while it cures. After 72 hours the smell is manageable and after a week it’s completely gone.
