I wanted a pompodour that would lay back relatively flat, a cut I’ve received successfully for several years now. So I asked to have weight removed from the top without diminishing the length in the front, and I provided a picture.
Surprisingly, the front of my hair is now very short in places and won’t lay back at all. Additionally, my stylist used hair-​thinning scissors to remove the weight, rather than taking the time to remove the weight more effectively with regular scissors and now my hair stands up on top and appears even thicker than it did before I came in for a cut. I asked my stylist to use the regular scissor to remove the weight, but she did not seem comfortable with this technique and quickly reverted to the thinning-​scissors. I am by no means an expert when it comes to cutting hair, but I have had weight removed without thinning-​scissors on a number of occasions, with great success, and I know from past experience that the thinning scissors tend to make hair spike. For $ 40 I would expect my stylist to be able to do this the right way.
Also, the cut is completely uneven and unblended on right side. I’m sort of astonished by how poorly this went. This is not the quality I expect from a $ 40 haircut.

I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to write a review. I started coming over here I believe in 2009, maybe 2010, when Angie, my hairdresser left her prior salon and started working here. I’ve had my hair done by a couple of other people when Angie wasn’t available. Everyone has always done a great job. The ladies who wash my hair do a great job as well and are always so happy, no matter how they are feeling. Angie is the best and always done such a great job with my hair. She takes her time and makes sure she knows what you want. Even if someone else is cutting my hair, she makes sure she lets them know what I liked & don’t like. I made my boyfriend start coming here a few years back and he has had some great cuts both by Angie and Melanie. He would always go to the walk-​in type places for $ 10 and it annoyed me because he has beautiful hair. So he goes here now as well and the great thing is, even though this is West U and some folks might find it a little pricey, your cut always lasts for a long time and looks great even when growing out! Kudos to this awesome salon!

I had a truly awful hair experience (you can read alllll about it) when I first moved to Houston. After an experience like that, you’re definitely gun shy. Luckily my boss heard me talking about my «bleeding scalp» hairstyle and told me to visit her stylist, Angie. I’ve not looked back since, and it’s been almost 2 years! All the stylists are top notch. When Angie is busy (and that’s most of the time!) some of the other girls will wash my hair, and when I needed a last minute blow out and style another stylist fit me in. All of them are great, friendly, and good at what they do! I’m so thankful I found Studio 3. I just may never leave Houston if only because I found my favorite salon!

Love! I found this through a review online and it was my first time going. I had my hair cut by Jenna and she was very accommodating. I was indecisive about how I wanted my hair to turn out and she was very patient helping me sort out my look. Well def return.

I arrived here in a hair crisis and left 150% happier. I was struggling with my post-​partum hair (long and curly, but damaged, broken, and falling out like crazy). I wanted a cut, but not a «mom cut»!
I cannot recommend Rhoda enough. She took my hair’s broken spirit and lifted it up. She probably cut 4 – 5 inches of the damaged stuff off, and now it has beautiful curly life again. She put small layers that really work with the hair (not layers that turn into fashion mullets after a wk).
I hadn’t made an appointment and got Rhoda as a walk-​in, but am SO glad I did. She had 20 years of experience cutting hair and really knows her stuff. Thank you so much, Rhoda!

Had my first haircut and color today with Lexy, after a friend recommended me. She did a great job of listening to the style and color I was looking for and made sure I was comfortable and happy with the process and results. The staff was super friendly, they offered me drinks and were very attentive. Will definitively be returning and recommending to other friends.

I first started seeing Leslie as I followed her to here from Beautique… then she left and I panicked. I am very senstive about my hair and how it gets cut, I have had bad haircuts in the past. I called them and told them my fear and informed them I needed a GOOD hair stylist, they asked all about my hair and how I like it cut and set me up with Caroline. And I must say I could not be happier! I have been seeing her almost a year now and I love her! I always get an appointment when I want, she is never running behind, always on time. Everyone at the front desk is very nice! I will continue to come here and now I am making my boyfriend come here too!

Had to get my hair cut somewhere else after I paid $ 55 here for a cut with no shampoo and no blow dry.
I went in with long hair and asked to keep the length except for a trim and have layers put in. Since I left without a blow dry it wasn’t clear till I got home that there were no layers even though while she was cutting it she was saying they were there. When I got home and realized I wasn’t happy I sent an email to the salon she said I could come back and she could add layers in but she didn’t think she could give me the look I wanted. There is no way I’m going to let someone cut my hair if they don’t think they can do it properly. She mentioned that my hair was too thin for the layers I wanted. Essentially when I left the salon I had way shorter hair than I wanted and one very long layer.
I gave it a couple days and was so upset I decided to see another stylist at a different salon. After analyzing my hair he said that the one long layer I had was uneven and he needed to take even more length off to get it straight again. He was also able to give me the layers I wanted, I guess my hair wasn’t too fine for him.
Skip this salon and go see Michel near the galleria.

I decided the time had come to cut off all my hair (think victoria beckham), this is a big deal. It would be the shortest I’ve ever cut my hair & I was NERVOUS!
I didn’t have an appointment since I’d just gotten the nerve up to cut my hair. After walking in and telling the gentleman at the front desk that I was coming in for a cut and giving my name, he had to put on a smock & offered me a variety of drinks.
After waiting for awhile he called me over & asked if I had an appointment. Um no, I told you that already. Well there was someone else with the same name who DID have an appointment. But they set me up with a stylist & she was FABULOUS! Rhonda (my stylist) took her time & showed me ways that I could style my hair easily.
It was a wonderful experience & my hair looks soooooo great!!!

i really like the bright colors and funky, modern décor and furniture inside studio 3. after i checked in, i was walked to a changing room in the back, where they have a bunch of robes they call smocks that you can put on to protect your clothes (or to pretend that you’re hugh hefner). there is also a fridge with complimentary water, sodas, and even beer (awesome!)
i had an appointment with kim for a color and trim, but we ended up only doing a cut, since she explained that to do the color i wanted properly it would take more time. since my hair already has color in it, it needs to be lifted, then lightened, then toned (this could take up to 2 hrs for it to come out right.) i really appreciate her honesty and that she wanted to do a good job without rushing. i initially just wanted a trim, but she had some ideas on how to update my look. i give new hairdressers a one time chance for artistic license on my hair, and she totally earned my approval to do whatever she wants with it in the future. she did an awesome job, and i am very happy with my new look.
kim was all booked up through the end of the month, so at her suggestion, i booked an appointment with jenna instead tomorrow to get the color done. i’m really excited, and am looking forward to it :)

jenna did an awesome job with the color correction. she got all the old reds out and toned it down so it wasn’t brassy. and she even got the color to be pretty even all over. she told me that to achieve the desired end result, it would take a few steps, since i had so much old color in my hair, and we didn’t want to end up frying my hair. when she was done, she gave me a neat tip: use suave shampoo at home to help lighten the color some more. it really works, and i find it very ironic that suave shampoo makes your hair unsuave… :T

What a fantastic experience! Today was my first haircut from Studio 3. Angie was my stylist, and she was extremely personable and accommodating. When I first arrived, they had me put on a smock and offered me FREE drinks. Angie listened to all the background about my hair and carefully studied the picture I brought of the haircut I wanted to get. She really took her time with me. I have extremely tangled hair, so she worked patiently with it, and followed all my instructions on how I wanted my new style. I love the haircut! She never pressured me to buy products or have her blow my hair out and style it for an extra charge. The price was very reasonable, and the atmosphere at the salon was trendy and relaxed, at the same time. I will definitely be going back.
