Theresa is the bomb! She does just as I ask plus gives me ideas when I don’t have any clue… both cut and color! Price is the best I have found for what she does.

First time here and it was a pretty great experience. The space is very bright and comfortable feeling. I made an appointment with Yumi and she is super nice and friendly! My most recent haircut was in June/early summer and it wasn’t that great. My hair was damaged from the layering with a razor and it was very poofy and weirdly shaped when it grew out. Yumi fixed my hair shape and trimmed all the split ends away. Now, it looks a lot healthier and has a slimmer, sleeker look. She also taught me how to part my hair so it doesn’t look uneven on one side! Overall, she’s a great stylist and friendly to talk to. My only bit would be that its a bit more expensive than what I usually pay for my haircuts, but I’m a pretty cheap person anyways. Would love to come back again if I get an opportunity! :)

After years of searching for the right stylist, I finally found my place. I’ve been seeing you me for about a year and a half and she is the best. I get highlights and lowlights and she always seems to find the right color for me. I highly recommend coming in but you need to make an appointment first because this shop is by appointment only.

Yumi is amazing! Absolutely love this spa. The vibe and atmosphere is great. You will get what you expect and more. I never leave this spa disappointed. I keep coming back to Yumi so she can work her magic on my hair. I am so thankful that I found this place.

I have been coming to Yumi since I found her in 2001 after going to a different stylist every 6 months over my entire life. Once I had one easy-to-do fabulous cut from Yumi, I was hooked. She knows how to work with naturally curly hair(even though I decided to start doing the Japanese hair straightening treatment 7 months ago) and she has always adapted my cut to flatter my face as my weight has fluctuated over the years. If she ever moved back to Japan, if have to follow her because no one on earth is allowed to cut my hair but her! #13YearsAsAFaithfulYumiGroupie The salon is kitschy, eclectic & comfortable with lots of bright openness and big windows. Owner Stacy is delightful and down to earth. Love love LOVE spa 1107!

RENE at Spa 1107 gives a great men’s haircut and she does it the old-fashioned way… with SCISSORS. She only uses a razor to trim around the edges. She takes her time… so if you want a 10 minute whack job you’d better hit Sport Clips… this is a 45 minute commitment. She also LISTENS to you and cuts your hair the way YOU want it not the way she thinks it should be unless you tell her to. I have had numerous compliments on her haircuts. BONUS: She is super cool and is a HOUSTONNATIVE who grew up right in the neighborhood so she is full of good tips on restaurants, bars, etc., etc.

SPA1107 is tucked away in the Montrose off W. Dallas near Montrose Blvd. so convenient for me… I have been going here for years and absolutely love Stacey as my hair stylist! She is a fabulous colorist and is so easy to talk to. I think the best part of going to get my hair done is that the entire staff(Mark, Yumi, Teresa & Daniel) are a diverse, wonderful collection of personalities. Hopefully you will be there when Stacey has Lucy washing hair, she has great hands. I would highly recommend any of the stylists in the salon as each of them have at least 20 years of experience in the biz! I would let any of them do my hair and have! They have recently added a massage therapist and he is also great! His name is Alberto.

First and foremost, if you’re going to visit Spa 1107 for a cut, the only stylist I recommend is Yumi . Not only is she extremely personable, but she knows just what to do with my hair. Never have I gone to Yumi and have been disappointed. Now, I’ve had a couple friends who have been to Spa 1107 and have seen other stylists, not so pleased. But every time they see Yumi, of course they’re happy! And this is male and female alike, mind you. The place is well kept and clean, and the staff as a whole are considerate and kind. Needless to say, the main reason I love this place is because they have what I believe to be, one of the best hair stylists in Houston. To anyone looking for a wonderful cut and/or change to their hair, go to Spa 1107 and make sure to ask specifically for YUMI !

My decades-long search for the perfect hairstylist is over. Countless trips to countless salons have all landed me with one haircut — the bob. In varying lengths and at varying prices, but a bob none-the-less. Apparently, most hairstylists don’t know what to do with Asian hair except cut it into a bob. Well, there was that one time that the stylist told me she was going to give me a cut to minimize the roundness of my face, and I ended up looking about 10 years older and then going somewhere else and getting a bob. Enter Yumi Matsushima of Spa 1107. The first time I went to her, I was 7-months pregnant and bloated. There’s not a whole lot that a new haircut can do for you when you’re carrying ten extra pounds in your face alone. I told her that I wasn’t the type of person to spend an hour on my hair, wash and go, please. I asked her to do whatever she wanted and probably bring it up to around shoulder-length. She said no. She told me that I didn’t have to chop it all off if I wanted a new look. I could keep it long and still have an easy-to-maintain, great looking haircut. She also told me that I didn’t even look pregnant, so from there I could see her tip skyrocketing. Anyway, snip, snip, snip, and I had the most amazing haircut I have ever had. She had an opinion, she knew what to do with Asian hair, and she gave me something that met my needs. The cut I have is long and layered with long bangs that frame my face. On most days, I do just wash and go, but she also showed me how to dress it up with just a couple of twists of the curling iron. She gave me her cell phone number in case I had questions on how to do this at home. You know how it is with most salons — they style it for you and then you try to recreate it at home, and one hour and many furious tears later, you look a wreck and your hair is all crispy with hairspray. I had a big event at the office a few days later, and it was unbelievably easy for me to style it the same way she did when I left the salon and I didn’t even have to call her. I got so many compliments — this is what a great hairstylist does for you. Not only is she a great hairstylist, but she answers her phone, «Hello? This is Yumiiiiiiii!!» My search for a salon /stylist is over.

Went here one time when the owner of Hot Tops passed away and it looked like they’d be closing their doors. Very bad choice. I went in with a picture of a nice layered hair cut and ended up looking like I walked into a weed whacker. The stylist gave me shorter than Betty Page style bangs when I hadn’t asked for bangs. She was incoherent and kept dropping things. The owner was aghast and said there was no charge, so at least I didn’t have to pay for the trauma. It took eight months to grow out the damage. Beware!
