If you go here don’t get a «kolache» they use hot dogs instead of traditional breakfast links And I would put my life on it that it ISNOT an Earl Campbells sausage as stated below

Yums! This place is in an underground tunnel, but it’s pretty easy to find; google maps has it right. There are a lot of donuts to choose from, and I got a twist, cream-filled, and devil’s food. They were all really good! The devil’s food has a very chewy almost bread-like outside, and the cream inside tastes somewhat like coffee, though it’s really sweet. The cream-filled is chewy and light, and the cream isn’t too sweet which I appreciated. The outside was glazed though, so it was pretty sweet by the end of eating it. The twist I think could have been fluffier, and it was glazed as well. There wasn’t additional sugar besides that, but since I ate it last, it was pretty sweet. Not a bad place, all this cost almost $ 4 though. Expensive breakfast!

After moving from Houston to NYC, the second thing I wanted to eat after I stepped off the plane was a Shipley’s kolache. So many good memories of mornings kicked off the right way with a couple kolaches on the way to work… This location did not disappoint. Pretty convenient location for a tunnel location — just a quick escalator down from the lobby. Craving satisfied. Now on to Pappasitos…

Well… I use to frequent this location atleast once a week but I think the location wasn’t well thought out. They opened it right next door to a smoothie king so guess what happened… they have now relocated outside of my walking radius. I can still smell it like it was yesterday… ahhhh

I know, I know. I’m possibly shocking you with my secret love of fried dough. I am picky though, so there’s that. For example, if I was having an insulin reaction on a desert(or is that dessert?) island and could only find one sad, flattened doughnut at Shipley’s and a doughnut festival at Dunkin’s and/or Krispy’s, I’d be fighting people off for that one glazed Shipley’s.(Then probably wander around looking for a Christy’s Blueberry Cake Doughnut until just before I passed out — you know, just to make sure a better doughnut wasn’t out there waiting for me.) Since there is no decent bakery in the tunnels and I was having a desert island sort of moment, I reached for a Shipley’s. Sugar dusted yeast if you must know the specifics. It hit the spot and I was able to continue my tour of the tunnels. I sort of felt like Ms. Pacman chomping up a cherry, though — glad I don’t have to endure the tunnels on a daily basis. Yikes!

Nothing makes me happier than coming into work and finding a box of Shipley’s that someone had brought in. Not many things can beat a warm, fluffy, glazed donut. Except maybe a kolache because they sell mean kolaches as well. Sadly, these donuts are making me fat and I might need to take a hiatus.
