Sam’s Shell Service

I came here to get my car inspected. They quickly rang me up and said I was next in line. I was feeling good about this. Then after about two minutes they told me the machine to do the inspection wasn’t working. The frustrating thing here is that they charged me before even knowing if they could do the inspection. So I was a little miffed at the waste of my time and lack of professionalism. Perhaps I was saved by this given the other poor reviews!

I wish there were an option to leave ZERO stars. One star is far too generous. I never take the time to write reviews unless the establishment I just visited was so great or so terrible that it inspired me to do it. I think you can guess what I feel about this place.
This shell workstation is connected with the inspection place right down Almeda Rd., crossing OST. My review is for both establishments.
Here’s the list:
1. A fuse went out in my truck, so the machine to run an inspection wasn’t reading anything. They wanted to charge me $ 30 to find the non working part. My boyfriend was able to figure out which fuse went out and replaced it. I showed the part (clearly a blown fuse) to the receptionist/​mechanic and he said he would still have to charge me $ 30 to check if all the fuses worked. He asked me how I knew the fuse went out because ‘sometimes they make them like that’ (broken?). I don’t think so. Little did he know, I’m not an idiot. After a minute or two of trying to convince me to pay $ 30 for an unnecessary diagnostic I asked him to just run the inspection again and it worked! Wallah! Saved myself $ 30.
2. The two places I mentioned above are run by the same people, so I had to go back and forth from both establishments to get a belt replaced, oil changed and my inspection done. I found it to be a bit annoying, but I had already spent so much time trying to get my truck fixed I cooperated.
3. The receptionist at the shell location was pretty rude. Which is kinda expected. I don’t expect mechanics to be sweet, but a lighter tone would make a huge different.
4. I understand mechanics are not the nicest smelling people in the world, but the offensive stench they left in my truck lasted for DAYS!
5. Lastly, and I think most importantly, they changed the oil in my truck and come to find out they USED THE WRONG OIL. (I took it to a different mechanic afterwards)
Well kids, all I can say is, avoid this place. Seriously.
I finally found a trustworthy mechanic that I know will not try to charge me for unnecessary services, he knows exactly what he’s doing and on top of that he smells good! :)

If my feces could fix cars, it’d do a better job than these guys. I came here with my Partner to pick up her car after she dropped it off for an oil change and tire alignment. When she tried starting the car though, she realized the wheel was stuck so she wasn’t able to turn the key in the ignition at all. After trying to un-​jam it herself, she finally gave up and asked one of the mechanics to help her. Not saying a word, the mechanic walked to her car to try and get it loose but was unsuccessful. He then passed the car keys off to another guy who also ignored our existence. After twenty more minutes of jerking on the steering wheel, he passed the keys off to a THIRD guy. Mind you, we were standing outside for a full hour by the time the third guy came around, with none of them saying more than two words to us.
Finally we got so fed up we just told the third guy to call us whenever they were able to turn the wheel so we could start the car. Fast forward two hours, and we still didn’t receive a call so we decided to call them first. After calling them, my Partner talked to one of the mechanics who told her that she’d need to call a locksmith or triple A to get her car towed. Basically he was telling her that she’d need to pay more money to fix the problem that they caused. After hearing that, she asked to speak to the manager hoping that they’d be the voice of reason. Instead, the manager said that they already performed their services so everything after that is not their problem. So all in all great customer service! The «customer is always right» motto is really taken to heart here.
In the end, we had to call someone to tow the car to another mechanic who told us that the reason it was stuck was because the guy who parked the car turned the wheel too much. So if you’re wanting to get horrible car service with even worse customer service then this is the place to go. As for me, I’d rather take my car to get repaired by Wreck-​It Ralph than ever come here again.

Terrible car service. My car just needed an oil change, and two hours after I dropped off my car, I went to pick it up. Somehow, they managed to get my wheel stuck by not even it out before parking it. They forced me stay there two hours afterwards as every clown in the shop stepped out to try to start up my car. They then proceeded to say that it might be my key that’s the problem, BUT EVERYTHING WAS FINE WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF 4 HOURS BEFORE. NEVER EVER COME HERE!

Good service, seem honest to me as I’ve been using them for a few years

This is where I go to pump up my tires for free! They also have gas, but I feel like the price has gone up at this location over the years. When I first moved here it was very reasonable, now I feel like its higher than others in the area.
Also while pumping my gas I saw the worker guys driving the cars in and out of the garage in not the most careful fashion. They drove as fast as they could in this tiny little parking lot. Also peeled out in an SUV. Because of that I don’t think I will take my car here to get its oil changed.
They get three stars because you can pump up your tires for free.

Needed a place to have my inspection done so I could be legal before I started work. It was generally painless. They have a couple of seats to sit in while you wait. They told me half an hour and that’s about what it took. They get the thumbs up from me.
