If you’re craving meat, this is the place to go. Lots of bbq options. My favorite was the steak hoagie sans mayo. My friend had the veggie burger. It was huge and she enjoyed it. Pass on the deviled eggs.

Best Deli in Houston! The food is always good from fresh sandwiches to barbecue. Had the pastrami on rye came to me perfectly toasted and great flavor. The service and people are the best. I can also not forget the great cookies they have there. Whether your looking for alligator or a great deli sandwich Pete’s is the place where you can still get a personal feel to a place!

Great deli, crazy expensive meat from the meat market… was quoted a price per pound of pork loin of 7.99. Other markets sell it for about 3.99. They can price pount their selection however they want, but I will not be a returning customer to their meat market. Do your research, other Houston meat markets sell the same quality of meat, or even better, for a fairer price.

Place is amazing. Go by the honor system: you walk in it has a very gas station/meat market vibe. But in the corner there’s a little place to order some delicious meats. Wow. This place is great. All the staff are beaming with smiles. It’s just a happy atmosphere and a great place to grab a quick bite for lunch. Definitely recommend this place for everything they do due to the quality of their service. Love this place eat here often.

This place is amazing! Granted, I’m not from Texas and I live in NYC but I’ve never seen such a mass quantity of «fine meats» in my life. My family ordered a fresh 20lb organic turkey($ 70) that came from a farm down in Waco, TX. We went to pick it up a few days before thanksgiving, and could not have been greeted by a more friendly staff. My mom and I spent about 20minutes browsing before we even got in line to pick up the turkey. A man introduced himself and gave us a full tour and made recommendations(he didn’t even work there, but he was that passionate about Pete’s meats!) It was a really fun experience, family owned, and a great place to pickup meat for dinner or try some more exotic animals.

I recently bought a pig from Pete’s to grill for my husband’s birthday party. We ordered a 20 lb. pig and paid $ 167.00 for it… Wow, that was a sticker shock! The pig was nothing but fat and bone. If it wasn’t for the side dishes, we would have had nothing to eat for my husband’s birthday party. I was so disappointed. I have been shopping at Pete’s for years, but after the rude response when I called them to complain, I will NEVER give them my business again. The owner said it was not his problem the 20 lb pig had no meat and all fat. Hello, if it had no meat on it, why didn’t you tell me not to order that size instead of taking my money and refusing to do anything about it?

I’m absolutely impressed! Businesses aren’t ran like this anymore. Service is fantastic, as is the selection. As you walk in the narrow establishment you will see a long case that displays the heavenly meaty items. On the right side of the store, there are awesome and original products like rub, sauce, charcoal and a refrigerator full of beverages. After drooling observations of pigs being handled and meat being cut and happy patrons buying things like Tomahawk steaks, we opted for two veal steaks and some bacon. At the register, we had a fun conversation with the owner. I asked if any of his fine meats had been stolen. Surprised at the question, he said in 35 years of business no meat had been stolen until two weeks ago! He said a person had some cuts at the counter and just ran off. They were so stunned and bemused that no one did anything! The owner then learned that we were first timers so he gave us an awesome camouflaged cap and a whole bag of eight giant sausages!!! I left with a smile on my face, and an anxious need to get my veal on the grill!

Looks like it could be a decent place, but the hours are impossible. I attempted to go twice, arriving at 5:30 one time and 5:15 the next. Both times, the place was essentially closed despite being open until«6:00». Workers standing around in a circle talking 45 minutes before the posted closing time(which is already inaccessibly early)? I can find somewhere else to take my business.

Great butcher’s shop. I like the steaks, bacon, and jerky, I’m hoping to try the chicken and pork soon. They have some cookies that they make on site near the register, I would highly recommend that you try some. I will be going back.

The deli fixes some great food, and their meat selection is top notch. Try the Wagyu(Kobe style) brisket, it is expensive but totally worth it if it’s cooked right. Today I had the two meat platter with brisket and sausage, potato salad and coleslaw on the side. For 11 bucks it is a gigantic amount of food I had to take half home. The meat was cooked perfectly and tasted great.

Drove through an hour in a half of Houston traffic to try this place. I arrived at 5:15 and was informed that the deli/kitchen was closed. When I informed the clerk working the counter that it was not 6 yet, she informed me that the store closes at 6, but the deli closes at 5. Why would they not have two times posted somewhere, anywhere, to let people know which part closed first? I was livid that I wasted so much time and effort to get to this place, only to be let down. I will not be back.

Pete’s Fine Meats is one of those quirky local places I love to frequent. It is mainly a butcher shop that triples as a restaurant and a convenience store. I’ll address all three below, but first, a few misc. tips: * If you want a soda with your food, you pick it up from the convenience store area then go eat your food, then pay * They cater BBQ and it is affordable * The cookies near the check-out are fresh and delicious Butcher Shop: At my last job I wanted to cut back on how much time and money I was spending on lunch every week. My coworker and I ended up ordering(cooked) meat by the pound and having them package and vacuum seal it in half-pound increments. We would then put the meat in the fridge at work and eat the meat throughout the work week. This is great for people who want to open just the right amount of food and not risk the remaining food spoiling. It was also a great value and saved me about 30−40% over eating out every day. This was over a year ago but I still look back with fond memories. Restaurant: At the far end is the restaurant. Their pre-made chop beef sandwhiches can’t be beaten in price: right now, around $ 1.40 each. Two to three of these fill me up. I also like ordering their breakfast taco, which is closer to a burrito. Try ordering it with eggs, bacon, cheese, and sausage. It is fresh and a great value. Also ask for a side of salsa. They also have BBQ and fried chicken dishes, which are good. Convenience Store: The soda selection is great, including a nice selection of cane-sugar sodas. There are also some baked goods. Definitely worth a quick look when you are going in to eat.

This place is great. Steak hoagie is thoroughly satisfying and the meat quality is wonderful. Tried macadamia coconut chocolate chip cookie and nearly died, it was that good. Prices are very fair too which is great. Can’t wait to try more stuff.

Simply put, this place is amazing!!! I had seen reviews from fellow Unilocalers and had to give it a try. The buffalo cheeseburger was amazing. Warning: do not be tempted to make it a double as the single was huge! Service is that of a busy deli, so be patient and don’t expect the red carpet treatment. Review the menu, place your order and wait for the magic to happen. Another warning: fries/onion rings are heavily salted so request no salt and season yourself You pay after at register so remember what you had. No ticket and receipt upon request. Check out the incredible assortment of other fresh meats as you walk to register. No cooler? No problem, they sell the styrofoam coolers too. There is no excuse for not having all your carnivorous cravings satisfied here. Enjoy

Oh my it really doesn’t get better than this place, they have everything anyone could ever want I wish I could live here. The food is impeccable and is only rivaled by eating lady skirt tacos

Mike Cruz, the owner, is extremely helpful and you can tell he has a genuine desire to help his customers. I have had lunch there several times and each time was very happy with my meal. Try the steak hoagie. Since I am a backyard chef, what i really come for is the exotic game and meats. I highly recommend the bacon wrapped quail. I have bought buffalo New York Strips, gator, and beef rib-eyes, t-bones, and assorted steaks, which were all of the highest quality I have ever encountered anywhere. Don’t know how to cook buffalo? Ask Mike Cruz he will be happy to point you in the right direction. Pete’s Fine Meats is amazing and has that«old school» cool.

Pros: The food is phenomenal! Everything that they offer in their deli and the butcher shop is great. Everyone is really friendly. Cons: The hours are ridiculous. Also, if you come at any time other than the lunch rush the guy who works the deli side of the counter is super slow and surly and might mess up your order. I’m not alone in thinking this because I’ve seen him get chastised by other employees three or four times. What to order: The two meat plate with ribs, sausage, and a side of potato salad and jalapeño deviled eggs. Get a link or two of the jalapeño sausage to go. Keto Tips: This is a deli that specializes in meat. Everything is great. Order the jalapeño sausage to go as it has cheese in it(but is really not that spicy). Also, the eviled eggs or egg salad as a side are excellent.

This is based solely on the fact that their hours are horrible and they’re not posted ANYWHERE at the store. I believe they’re opened 9 – 4 Monday thru Friday, which forces all normal people to go on their lunch break! Can’t go before work. Can’t go after work. Can’t go on weekends. Are you kidding me?! I don’t understand why their hours are a guessing game. That’s no way to run a business. I just went on their website, which says Mondays are 9−4pm and Tues-Saturday are 9−6pm. I live right next this place and those are NOT their hours. I get off every day a little before 4pm. I drive by Pete’s on my way home, which is only a couple blocks, and they are not open 95% of the time. I drive by here on weekends and it is routinely closed. Not sure what goes on at this place. I think they work when they want to work, whenever that may be.
