This antique jewelry store had a really wide selection. The person we talked to was incredibly helpful and answered all of our questions about antique jewelry. They have such an educational and well rounded staff. Ask about what role each one plays. It was very interesting. I was looking for a nontraditional engagement ring and she showed me quite the selection. They have more than what’s in the cases too by the way so if you don’t see what you are looking for, describe it and they might have something for you. Out of the 5 antique jewelry places we went to in the Houston area, this is the place where we learned the most. It can be a little pricey but they do have a few items in the lower range. I have attached a exceptional ring they had about a month ago and may still have it. They also have a pretty nice website as well. Go in and learn if antique jewelry is your thing!

Extremely helpful staff every time I come here. They offer to clean my antique ring even when Im only there to look. I had a sizer put on my ring by Melissa which was done perfectly. They always have a beautiful inventory of jewelry. My favorite jewelry store in Houston.

My experience at Past Era has been nothing but superb. I always knew that I wanted an engagement ring that has character and is truly unique. After visiting several jewelry stores, I knew THE ring was going to be here. Daniel is amazing and I absolutely adore him. He was so patient and thorough with the selection process during my multiple visits there. He encouraged me to literally try on almost all the rings to get a feel for what I may like and dislike. After finding THE ring, my fiancé and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase and service. We cannot wait to return back to shop for our wedding bands.

Take the one-star review on here with a grain of salt and read the other reviews: some people go nuts when they get the opportunity to create additional drama in their lives. I’ve been shopping at this place for years. The jewelry is spectacular and each piece comes with an information card listing all the available information they have on it. They even have a historian whose job is to ensure that each piece is authentic. The sales associates here are the best at any jewelry store to which I’ve been: they are helpful and enabling without being pushy. You are guaranteed to leave with something you love, and you’re under no pressure to get something you don’t like. I have even taken in pictures of things I’ve bought my wife in the past to show as examples of things I’m looking for, as it gives them a great starting place when assisting me. Bottom line: if you want the special person in your life(male or female) to wear something that is truly unique(because it’s the only one), is a timeless style(because it’s been around a hundred years) and is absolutely beautiful, drop in to Past Era, even if it’s just to look around. You’ll never shop at a mall jewelry store again.

Past Era sold me a fake ring three years ago to the tune of $ 890!!! They are liars, thieves, and cheats. If you have a piece by them, I highly suggest you run NOW to your jeweler and have it appraised. I bought the ring for a man I was dating and when the relationship went south, I tried to sell it, so I had it appraised, and was told it is a big fat fake. I was told the«lapis lazuli» is plastic, or at best, glass. I contacted Past Era and demanded an explanation, and of course, they have not responded. Why? Because they are guilty, horrible people who take advantage of poor students like me. Disgusting. Guard your money, don’t listen to these other reviews. I bet half of these poor people don’t even know they have a fake piece. You have been warned.

My fiancée and I went here«just looking» but had such a great experience we ended up choosing our wedding bands that day. The variety of rings was unmatched by any other jewelry store I’d been to. Hildy really listened to what we wanted and put every possible ring option on the counter so we could see them close up. We had her undivided attention from start to finish, she made the process genuinely fun, and was incredibly informative about the histories of the different styles, the resizing process, etc. 10⁄10.

My husband and I had an amazing experience here with Daniel when we were searching for my engagement ring. It was so great we came back to find my wedding band! He was very knowledgeable and patient as I tried on many different rings to find the perfect one. I couldn’t be happier with the rings I will have for the rest of my life!

Highly recommend. If you are a lover of antique jewelry, and are looking for a one of a kind piece of superior quality, Past Era should be at the top of your list of places to visit in Houston. I wandered into Past Era and intended to stay only a few minutes, but before I knew it I had been there an hour trying on some unforgettable pieces with the full encouragement of Daniel and the Past Era team. If you want to try on jewelry that you can only dream about in a wonderful setting and with no obligation, this is the place for you. And if you want to go home with something beautiful, Past Era will help you find the perfect piece in every price range. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Past Era Antique Jewelry is the most amazing store I have even been in! The antique jewelry pieces are museum quality! A friend in Dallas had a piece from them and so when they came to the Dallas Art and Antique Show I made a beeline to their booth. Daniel is wonderful: kind, knowledgeable and so helpful. I went there in person last weekend and perused the entire collection of exquisite jewelry. I also bought a gorgeous gold chain from the 1950’s. I will go there every time I’m in Houston to see what the buyers have found, many times European pieces.

This place is AMAZING!!! Hildi is my gal always! She helped me pick out not only mine and my husbands wedding bands, but the most gorgeous engagement ring ever. All antique and in pristine condition! Over the years she has guided my husband towards numerous wonderful gifts for me. This place is friendly and top notch in every aspect. A pleasure as always to work with them, and in Hildi we’ve found a trusted friend for all our future treasure needs. She’s gotten to know our tastes and always hits the nail on the head. We will never shop anywhere else!

Fantastic service, really great staff. Daniel was very understanding of our requirements and very helpful to find the exact ring. Altogether I would highly recommend this store, they have some beautiful pieces, both on display, and also in stock. They are very knowledgeable about their products and very considerate with regards to personal taste and other such specific details. All in all I would highly recommend this store, even if you don’t buy from them they will certainly help you find what you are looking for I’m sure.

If you’re looking for antique, heirloom jewelry, Past Era is the place to go. They have a large, beautiful selection of antique jewelry for just about every budget, and they won’t try to upsell you. They’ll likely ask your price range up front, but if not, just tell them. They’re good people, and they really do want to help you find something that suits you in every way. And, if they don’t have a piece that speaks to you on your first visit, go back. They get new stuff in all the time(and only a small fraction of what they have is on their website or even in the store cases). Seriously, I cannot sing the praises of this place highly enough. I was looking for an antique ring that would replace a very special ring that I lost, and I visited three times before I found the one that was just right. Even though I inquired about rings my first two visits — and even had them email me photos and descriptions of the rings I liked — the first two visits, they never pushed me to buy anything. But when I went back the third time, Hildi — one of the saleswomen who’d helped me on my first visit — knew my name and knew that Daniel had helped me on my second visit and even went back and looked at his notes to see exactly which rings I’d looked at before. She ended up selling me a gorgeous ring that they’d just gotten in, and I couldn’t be happier with it. Past Era now has a lifetime customer in me, and I will encourage everyone I know to visit, whether they’re looking for an engagement ring, wedding ring, or just a pretty piece of jewelry.

If you’re looking for a place that will honestly make your jewelry shopping experience as pleasant as possible, Past Era is the place to go. In my experience I was welcomed with a smile and just the right pieces that would fit my needs. They didn’t show me stuff out of my price range to try and convince me to spend up; they talked me through each piece to help me better understand my purchase. When I said I wanted to look around more since they were my first stop they understood and didn’t pressure me to stay and buy. Sure enough the next day when I returned they came out with smiles again and helped me finalize my purchase. They have so much more in their store than what is on the website and for all budgets, big and small(mine was in the small range). I was able to find, with the help of two wonderful ladies(H. and C.), the perfect piece; an engagement ring from 1910 and a wedding band that is just the right fit for my girlfriend. Their knowledge and experience really made the shopping process much more enjoyable; and shopping at Past Era’s store in Houston is real convenient. As a current California resident I knew I had to stop by their shop on my trip after I had visited their online store many times. I have no doubt now, after seeing their extensive collection, that if I were to email them my budget and ideal ring they would have been able to help me from many miles away. Thanks again to Past Era and their helpful staff. Y’all really stood far above the other antique shops and«wholesale» stores with your friendliness, knowledge and selection. I couldn’t be happier with the service and pieces I got from Past Era. You’ve earned a family of customers for life. Thank you.

Past Era is tucked away inside Antique Pavilion on Westheimer. It is a small jewelry counter, but do not be dismayed by its size. Everything in there is gorgeous– I’m not much for jewelry, but it’s obvious that the buyers there have an impeccable eye. I went there looking for simple wedding bands, and they have two cups full of them. I don’t know if other people have melted them down or kept them in the family, but it seems like simple bands are very hard to find. Most estate jewelers carry stone-laden flashy jewelry and not much else, but Past Era has lovely understated jewelry along with some really amazing flashy pieces, and always something unique or unusual. I walked out of there with two platinum etched bands from the 20s and 30s that are just perfect, and the Dude got a lovely plain white and yellow gold ring. The people working there are incredibly knowledgeable, down-to-earth, and friendly. I spent a long time looking at rings on two separate occasions, and I learned all about synthetic sapphires and gold quality. At the same time, they were very friendly and it was easy for me to relate to them– which is pretty unusual for me(tomboy) and someone in a jewelry store(in any other shop, superficial and kind of bit&$y). They were also patient while I took my time trying things on and agonizing. They seemed to catch on to my personality and what suited me, and found appropriate things. It is kind of pricey, but I feel like they price pieces appropriately for their quality and the trouble they go through to find them. I felt good about spending my money in a local shop, and hey! It’s recycling!
